Congratulations to you all! I'm getting married August 4th too!

My fiance helped me to pick the date, I would've had it on August 13th, when my parents were wed, but's it not on a weekday. = (

We couldn't do it later because his niece turns 1 yr old on the 16th and then he has to return to work (he's a teacher) the following week.

So August 4th worked out and we will honeymoon on the Aug 6th-13th Dominican Republic!

Hi Everyone! I am an August 18th bride myself!I am hoping to lose 10kilos by the wedding (about 22 pounds) by August 1st. I am starting now so I can work at it slowly and not stress out about my weight right before the wedding. If anyone would like to be weight loss buddies I would love to have and offer some support.

Hello everyone! I am getting married Aug 18 07 as well! So exciting. I am just starting the planning/searching. I have a bachlorette party to go to in Vegas in April (not mine) so that is what my April goal weight is for but I also want to keep it off through my own wedding. We all just have to stick to the plan and when we fall off the wagon one day just start again the next day!

Hello to all my beautiful August 2007 brides!!! I am new to this site, but I enjoy it and it is a great big help. I will be married in Negirl, Jamaica on Aug.4 and my goal is to lose 30lbs. I'm currently 163.5. I am trying my best, but my bad eating habits are catching up with me. To tell everyone about me, I'm a 25 year old mom of a 4 year old little boy with cerebral palsy. I graduated from college in 04' but I'm back in school for radiology. Having a baby made me gain all this weight. I was 115 before I had him and reached 175, but I never got hardly any weight off after him, so now I am trying my best. I would appreciate any and all the support I could get. We all want to look slim and fit and very, very beautiful next August. Congrats to you all and good luck!!!!!!!

Hey! Yeah, my fiance and I are going to be in the same place. Actually, in order to be placed together you have to be married. So, we're not "available to leave" until after we get married. We've started our applications, but not finished them. So, we don't know where we'll be going or when we'll be going. I bet it is difficult to plan with your boyfriend bing in the ROTC program. Good luck with that!

Wow, that suprises me that the package is cheaper, but thats awesome! I should look into it. So are you and your fiance going to be in the same place in the PeaceCorps? I think it is awesome that you are going to be doing that! My boyfriend is in the Navy ROTC program, so after he graduates who knows what he will be doing. Right now it is a bit difficult to plan anything.

Actually, the package was A LOT cheaper than buying everything individually. Like you, I like saving money. In the end, I'm trying for a fairytale wedding on a budget. I LOVE to travel, so an awesome honeymoon would be cool. But, we consider the PeaceCorps a honeymoon of sorts, so we're spending the money on the wedding and foregoing the honeymoon. Like I said, do what makes YOU happy. If that's eloping to Vegas and then splurging on a honeymoon, so be it!

True the packages would make it easier, but probably more expensive. See I kind of like the idea of saving the money for a fabulous honeymoon! Then there is that part of me that wants the fairytale wedding. Hmm...decisions decisions! Thanks for your help!

Lol..it's true, I guess a lot of wedding planning is more about pleasing the family. But, just think about what you and your fiance want. If you really want to go to Vegas and elope, go for it! At times I think I'm too lazy to plan my wedding, but I want it to turn out a certain way, so I need to plan it. As far as family pleasing goes with my planning so far, we listen to what they have to say but think about what we want. For example, my fiance's step-dad wants us to get married in a church and have his pastor marry us. But, we want to get married outside and have a non-religious ceremony. So, that's what we're doing. Lol, I guess the point is: don't let the family talk you into a wedding you don't want.

Oh, and to add to being lazy...some places offer wedding packages. You'd still get a "traditional" wedding without having to take care of everything. For example, I found a wedding package (in Nashville, IN) that included the flowers, videography, photography, officiate, and location. Planning a wedding doesn't HAVE to be hard.

Thanks, I will have to check it out. I just think I am also too lazy to actually plan a wedding. I am talking to my friend as she is planning it, and she tells me about all of the things that keep on coming up (and with her older sister's wedding too). It seems as though weddings aren't about the bride and groom anymore but are about pleasing the families.

Congrats to you too! Next year is my senior year as well. I have no idea what I want to do with my degree, and I want a little break, so my Fiance and I are planning on joining the Peace Corps after we get married. I love to travel, and I like helping people. So, it should be fun. I'm not sure how long in advance you should start planning, but the sooner the better. Especially with school and graduation. You don't want everything to be happening at once. Have you heard of theknot (www.theknot.com). It's a site where a bunch of brides get together and help each other plan. It can be really helpful. Anyway, good luck on everything!

Congrats on your wedding plans. It looks like we have similar weight loss goals. I haven't set a date yet, but we were thinking about August '07 as well. I actually haven't even started planning yet. I am the Maid of Honor for my best friend July '07. I have too much other stuff going on to plan a wedding. Next year is my senior year at college, and I need to figure out what I am going to be doing after that (job, grad school...). How long in advanced should you start planning a wedding? I think maybe we should just go to Vegas or something.
