We are also including a personal thank you in each one to thank them for traveling so far to be at our wedding!

i'm having a destination wedding, so hotel welcome baskets are a must have. i think it's important to welcome out of towners with gratuitious reception b/c they've spent money traveling to the wedding. i'm not going to do favors - i personally don't like getting them at weddings and usually throw them away if i take them at all. i love the toothbrush idea! how fun and functional! i will also be adding wine, an itenerary and some recommendations of things to do while in town - restaurant ideas and activities (bride and groom's favorites).

I'm skipping the hotel bags. But I don't think many of my guests are staying at the hotel.

For favors, I got 2x3 picture frames from the Knot. I'm using them for placecards - printing the placecards on business card blanks and putting them in the frames, which the guests get to keep. I wish I'd known about favorwharehouse.com - it would have saved me $60. They have frames for only 89 cents!

Check out www.favorwarehouse.com I have ordered favors for girlfriends bridal showers and my best friend ordered wine stoppers for her wedding favor and they are so cheap but very good quality. I would highly recommend it.

I am sticking with boxed truffles from a chocolatier in my hometown that has sentimental value to me!

How important are things like out of town guest bags? I have some guests coming in from out of town, but I am trying to keep costs way down and that could be expensive! I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings though!

On the same note, I'm trying to come up with inexpensive favors (we're looking at about 100-125) guests. Any ideas for those? What are you guys doing?

Thanks!!

I think including snacks, gum and a couple bottles of water are very nice for those that are staying at the hotel. We are including bride and groom rubber duckies in our bags which are really cute.

I have no idea how much this endeavor will end up costing. I'm guessing a couple hundred dollars for everything. I'm not replacing the favors with the bags. This is in addition to. Its a nice gesture for the out of town guests we have coming from all over and we have a ton of them! I plan on going to Costco and buying things in bulk and making a little welcome note to have for them when they check in.

Wow, I never thought about doing hotel bags. How much are you planning on spending on them? And are you doing them in place of traditional favors at the reception?

Don't forget the Tastycakes!

Are you using Hershey's for the local chocolate? I forgot which direction out of Philly you are...Hershey feels really far away to me.

Mine will include brands and specialities of the area. So the bags will include chocolates, pretzels, coffee, as well as brochures to some local attractions.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. My dad is a dentist and he wants to add something to the bags so he got a bunch of toothbrushes that have our names and wedding date on them. I laughed when he brought up the idea but I think it's great- its funny and very functional!

I liked everything listed below. The other thing we are adding is a large muffin (from sam's club) that they can have for breakfast the following morning on their way home!

Bottles of water, dried fruit, good granola or trail mix, a few great cookies like oreos or something, and brochures on fun things they can do on their own in town.

A list of phone numbers of all the places they will need to be, copies of all the maps of how to get to the places they need to be (even if you have already sent them this info), emergency in town phone numbers (a good pediatrician if they have kids, poison control, a taxi service, etc.

Have a phone number listed of a good friend who is not part of the wedding party who agrees to be on standby to take calls from folks who's car dies or they need help, etc. so they don't have to call you to find out who to call to rent a car...

Leave out the fun trinkets you think are just really cute and they'll keep forever to remember your wedding. They won't. It is just clutter to everyone but you. :-)

Have fun!!

Hey everyone!

I'm planning on having a lot of out of town guests at the wedding and I will have welcome bags at the hotel. Any suggestions for goodies?
