| my FIL's are wonderful and want to include everyone, so we're having close to 100 people at the rehearsal...nuts...but it'll be fun!

| We live in Los Angeles but we are having our wedding in Carmel, so everyone is really an out of town guest. I know the rehearsal dinner is only really supposed to include the members of your wedding party, but I feel really bad not to have my grandmother there. The place where we are having it only can take a party up to 22 and we are already at 24 so there is really no way we can add anyone. Also, my fiance's parents are paying for it, but I feel SO guilty about certain family members that are going to be left out! Any ideas about this situation?

| I feel like I was the one who just said that. I am going thru the same thing but only I think they are saying they will pay for the dinner and then close to last min his mom will have some tramatic situation and we get stuck paying!!!

| Our wedding and reception is going to be super formal so we decided to flip it for the rehearsal and do laid back casual. My FIL's are putting it on at their house, there will be between 75-80 people and about half of them are kids or teenagers. Because of the kids we are going for pizza, salad and breadsticks. We wanted something everyone would like and could just kick back and relax and destress the night before the big day. I dont know how much it will cost my FMIL just said "decide what you want, give me a guest list and I will take care of it". I love my FIL's:)

| We are having it at a nice restaurant in Richmond. We just met with the coordinator yesterday and what he proposed was appetizer sampler trays spaced throuought the room so that as people arrive there will be something to nibble on while waiting for everyone and they can mingle instead of just ploping down....then a choice of soup or salad... then entree choice (steak, chicken, seafood and vegetarian options)... then finally another sampler platter for dessert. He mentioned this is the most economical way to go with desert since people tend to order it, but not necessarily eat all of it. Anyway, not including alcohol, it's about $50 a head. Hope that helps.

| wow. so many people are having such formal rehearsal dinners. Sorry. My wedding is 100% on us and its costing us a ton. Since we are getting married in June (next month!) we plan to have a BBQ at a beach park near our house in CT. Its small, only about 25 people, but we really can't do a restaurant gathering. Besides its ALL friends and family and we're all very casual and very close, so we dont need to have anything too formal.

| ours is at maggiano's and we're expecting 80-100 people. since more than half of our guests will be from out of town, we're inviting all of them plus our bridal party and immediate families.

| Ours is at the restaurant where we went on our first date. We are doing no alchol to save money, and there is another rehersal dinner after us, so we're going to have dessert in the party room at the hotel most guests are staying in. This has helped us keep the number down to 35ish and then we can invite all guests that are in town to dessert after. We're doing ice cream sundaes, so it will be cheap!

It really depends on what you/your finance's family feels like doing. For my rehearsal dinner we are just having the wedding party (and their families). If we added out of towners it would mainly be my family (as my fiance's family's out of towners won't be in until the night of the wedding). My family is all staying with family, so they won't be upset if they weren't invited. However, I know that a lot of people do dinners and invite the out of towners as well

| I have a question about out of town guests/family. I'm getting married in North Jersey and I have my family and guests traveling a far for this. My fiance's family is hosting the dinner and they have said that we can invite out of towners but I feel this is too much. What do you all think? If I invite aunt so and so then you have to invite everyone and that could be an extra 30 people or so

| I'm concentrating more on the reception dinner, but I have the perfect place for my rehearsal dinner. The Sage Hill shelter at Sharp Springs park near my home. It sits on top of a hill with a breathtaking view of the Tennessee Hills. Surrounded by mature trees. The only shelter with a stone fireplace and 2 Bar-b-que grills. My fiancee & I are going to cook for our party since we both love to grill and then we are going to sit by the fire and share stories with our guests. It will only cost us around $100. That includes rental & food.

| We were lucky that my in-laws picked up the tab (but then again, that was the ONLY thing they paid for and the guest list for the wedding was 75% groom's side... not that I'm bitter here). We held it at the seafood restaurant that my mom had used a couple times for her department's end of school year party. We ended up getting a really great deal because of it - 3 course meal, choice of filet mignon or chicken teriyaki, red and white table wine for $24/head including the room rental and gratuity. And, yes, the inlaws were still complaining 3 months later about the fancy expensive restaurant we chose. Schmooze and network and throw some extra business their way... a typical restaurant will work with you on the price.

| Ours is next week and my FMIL has given us $1000 for a crab feast for 19 adults and 4 children.

Oh I am excited for ours! This is something that his mom really went all out for. It's at a VERY expensive restaurant that I looked at for the reception (at $170/head, we laughed and passed!).
We have a cocktail hour and then dinner. All this free alcohol, and I can't touch any!! Not about to risk puffy eyes or a hangover!!!

We had our rehearsal dinner at one of our favorite seafood places. My in-laws talked to the owners and they let them choose the lunch menu as our menu. That cut the price big-time. Since we were serving cake afterward we thought the lunch size would be ok. It was PLENTY! For 40 people it was under $1000.
If you want to have it at a resturant, make sure to ask about letting people choose off the lunch menu!

| We invited all our out of town guests to the rehearsal dinner (all of our guest were from out of town) so there were 115 people there and it was $3200. I think you can keep it under $1000 if you have 30-40 people.
| Luckily my fiancee's family is hosting the rehearsal dinner at their country club (trust me, that sounds fancier than it is). But overall I would say it's around $800 since we're a smaller party, maybe 25 people.
| We are ordering food from one of my fiance's favourite restaurants and having the dinner at my parents house (it is closest to the church) and since the rehearsal is on a Wednesday night (we are getting married on a Friday) it was the best solution for everyone. I think dinner will come to about $300 for 25 people

It depends what you are serving and if you are including alcohol in it. Our rehearsal dinner will be for 35 people. We are having at a Mexican restaurant. Our meals as well as Sangria pitchers and pitchers of beer will keep it under $1000. We figured if anyone wanted a drink other than those they could purchase them at the bar.
It was only about $600 until we added the alcohol
| I was wondering how much money everyone is allocating toward the rehearsal dinner. Ours will probably have around 40 people, and I want it to be at a nice restaurant in Connecticut. Can we do that for 1000? Let me know what you are all planning and if you have any budget cutting ideas?
