Hi Principessa,
I should be getting on a plane straight to Italy then! I need that feeling!
My Mom's family is from Italy (Cimarelli), but I have never been there myself. Just got one more reason now!

| You are too funny! Mine is as fake Italian as they get...he is actually German. I am Italian though and we went to Italy on our first trip together. They love American women there. It is the only place you can be a size 12 and feel like a model. They love the curves!

Hi Principessa, I am latin and it is pretty close to the way we say on my own language. He was a fake Italian though (he told me he was, but the truth is that he was Argentinian).

That is funny. No one knows what it means! Hope you like the stuff. I think Sephora carries it too.
Have a great morning.

Hi Principessa, I remember when I used to be called that (long time ago, another guy...) I will check the site that you've mentioned.

| I have thick hair and had the same problem. Go to www.blissworld.com and get the ingrown eliminator by Poetic. I am a waxing addict and it is the best stuff ever.

HI, I'd try another esthetician, cause that might have been the cause of all your bumps. Good luck next time!

| it is probably just my sensitive skin, but i broke out with bumps after being waxed. it was horrid. and it hurt like... well, it hurt. i was convinced to try it by a friend that loves it. i was broken out the entire time i was hairless. it was not good for me.

hI, I really like it waxed, and my fiance too. So I think that as long as you both like it it's 100% normal!

In answer to some of your questions - first, one of the things I love about waxing is how soft you are afterwards. Like you said, with shaving, it can still feel a little prickly if you feel the opposite direction, but not with waxing. I was like "WOW, that's good!"
I have heard different things about itchiness. Personally, it doesn't itch me when its growing back in. And I have heard that its not supposed to, and the more you do it, the softer the hair gets and the less likely it is to itch. But I have heard girls say that they do feel some itchiness when it grows back.
As to how "normal" it is, I think personal grooming is up to the person, but Brazillians or "landing strips" or "triangles" are getting more and more popular. I worried about what my Dr. would think too, especially since I have been having problems with endometriosis and was seeing different gynos across the country. The first dr. commented on it, but in a positive way. She said, "Wow, I am seeing more and more and more girls with this." And then she asked me how I liked it, etc. My other Dr.'s never said or did anything about it, and I don't think they thought it was a big deal at all.
Hope that helps.

|
| I have never gone Brazillian but I find that after a couple of waxes the hair tends to grow in softer and less stubbly when I have had the bikini line done. I don't find that it itches as much as shaving and I don't get irritated.

| Hi! I'm married, but was curious... I've never had a wax, but I know my hubby likes it when I shave "there". It's hard to do, and itches like CRAZY when it grows out... is waxing better? Does it itch when it's growing back in? I know that with shaving, it's still prickly when you rub the wrong way... is it like that when you wax?? Also, how normal is a full wax? I'm wondering if I start waxing, what will my gyno think next time I'm in there all naked and hairless! Awkward LOL :) I don't shave there much, mostly just do the bikinni lines.

I am SO proud of you for going. In fact, I just went last week, and I was looking for you to tell you that the more times I go, the less it hurts . This time, it was like a piece of cake. Also, make sure you don't go right around your period - it will hurt much more.
I know going was tough, but I also know you really wanted to - so great job - I am really proud of you. At least now you know, and can make a decision about what you want to do in the future. Were you pleased with the place you went to?

| I think that you can probably get a Braun Epil-Silk in a store - they're actually really common. I just tend to shop online unless I absolutely need something that day - living in the city, it can be a pain to get to Target, compared to hitting Target.com from my living room...

|
| hehe, kh1111 you are soo cute!!! well congrats to getting up the nerve to try and get it done!!! anyway, i am really considering getting an epilator now, anything with less pain works for me!! okay, anyone have any store bought brand they can recommend?

| I was the one that started that personal girl honeymoon prep post because I was SO freaked out to get a professional wax in that area. Since then, I DID IT!! It was REALLY painful! My fiance loved it though, so it made it worth it afterward. I'm going two more times before my wedding in July, but then I think I'll go back to shaving until the next special occasion. (: It is nice to not have to shave daily and I guess it is a lot smoother than I could do shaving, but it doesn't last THAT long for the amount of pain I had to go through. And this period of growing out before the next waxing is really irritating!! Please someone say that it is less painful the second time!!!

| Bought an epilator a couple of months ago and find it great. Hurts less than wax, but not entirely painless. It's great as I have senstive skin and doestn' seem to agrivate it, and lasts a couple of weeks so your not having to shave every few days. Paid about £20 for mine in the UK. Certainly a lot cheaper than paying someone to do it for you.

I think it hurts less than waxing, definitely.
I think I get two or three weeks out of it, but my hair grows kinda fast and is noticeable - black hair on really light skin (I'm practically translucent). Reading reviews of different epilators on Amazon, some people get a month. Some people touch up once a week. Some people have more free time than I. :) I tend to only worry about hair removal when I have to wear a skirt or shorts. We haven't quite hit that season yet here, so I don't really remember right now.

that actually sounds really good, man ihope i can come up with 60$. so you think it hurts less than waxing? and also is a few weeks like two, or three or four? haha, sorry for all the questions!!

It's like a bunch of motorized tweezers that spin around and pull out the hairs. You move it over your skin slowly and it yanks the hair out. The results are generally good for a few weeks, similar to what you'd get from waxing.
The one I have was about $60. I balked at the price, too, but it's been worth it. There are some that are closer to $25 on Amazon. If you read the reviews, you should be able to pick out a good one.
This is one I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001HYMGA/qid=1146614373/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-4094653-8542254?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=3760901
This one looks pretty good, and is inexpensive: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009XH70Y/qid=1146614373/sr=8-6/ref=pd_bbs_6/103-4094653-8542254?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=3760901

I use an epilator - I have a Braun 3370 Silk Epil Soft Perfection Epilator that I got two years ago from Amazon. It has an epilator head and an electic razor head with a guard for getting hair to the perfect length for removing. It also has two covers for the epilator head - one to reduce pain and one for just keeping the head in the right position for working faster.
I prefer it to waxing. Like waxing, I tend to miss a couple of hairs, so I need to spot check the next day. But it's not messy and since it's not attacking my skin, just the hair, it doesn't hurt as much. It actually doesn't hurt my legs much at all, except around my ankles. My bikini line is hit or miss, pain-wise, I think depending on when in my cycle it is - there's apparently good times and bad times to attack that. I can't use it on my armpits, because I can't hold my skin taut and hold the shaver at the same time. I tried it once, but without holding the skin back, it got pinched in the tweezers. I just shave my armpits instead.
I think since getting the epilator, I've only shaved my legs with a razor 3 times. And that's mostly because the fuse in my bathroom is really tempermental, so I have to take the razor to another room, or reset the breaker every day, so I tend to let things go for a while. I run my electric toothbrush down til it dies because of the same problem, so this says nothing of the razor.

| I am using the Andrea roll on wax version right now. It's about $12 for the wax and because it's a roll on it is less messy.

| that really surprised me about nad's!!! I was thinking about trying it next cause its sooo expensive i figured it cost more for a reason, that reason being it works better, but i guess maybe not. my leg hair is pretty thick too so i need some strong stuff, lol. i have naired before too, long time ago but all i ended up with was rashy legs and the hair was still there just shorter!! I really can't afford to go to a professional for my legs and bikini, i can't really even afford to do just my legs right now. i'm so happy to be getting married, but man it hurts the wallet. well, thanks guys for your imput, but i doubt i will try the avon just cause i never use avon anything and i don't like ordering stuff! i just wish someone would post that they use some store bought stuff that works awesome!! lol, and doesn't hurt, haha, ya right eh?

| Waxing is hard but since you said you've done it before, I'm sure you realize that. I've tried a few different waxes. My favorite is the one I bought from Avon. I got the little tub of it for like $12. I waxed my legs, my eyebrows and my brother's extremely hairy back (that was fun lol)with it to give you an idea of how far it goes. It's microwavable but like all waxes is messy. I HATE Nads. There are so many great things about it, like it's water soluble so you can wash the strips and use them again and clean up is a breeze, but I can only get it to remove very very very fine hair. I can't even get it to do my eyebrows without going over them like three times. I know this is long, but I hope it helps!

| Hi Michelle - We chatted on the old post. Before I had it done professionally, I tried to do it myself, and for me, it was HARD! I tried a couple of different thingsm from Nair, to shaving everything, to wax. I found it very difficult to get into the right position and do something as painful as wax. I also dripped wax everywhere and found it to be very messy. Nair (and others) bothered my skin. Electric razors didn't get a close enough shave for my tastes. Regular razors were the most promising and I did that for quite a while. I didn't have a problem with ingrown hairs, but I did have a problem with little nicks that would swell like beestings. So I decided to bite the bullet and let a professional handle it. Honestly, I don't know what your salon charges, but mine charges $25. It was so worth it!! Once I got over my emabarassment (and I'm not sure I fully have yet), it was really so much better. I found a great person who tries to make it as easy and pleasant as possible. And I can go a good 6-8 weeks in between waxing. So, to me, $25 every 2 months or so is less than what I spent on other products and a fraction of the aggrivation. And I can tell you truthfully, the first couple of times are the hardest. It does get much easier - both less painful and less embarassing. I don't know if that helps you, but good luck.

| i know there is an old post 'honeymoon personal prep' about this, but no one posts in there anymore and i have a question. for my wedding/honeymoon i was going to go to a professional and get waxed, but money has gotten real tight around here so i want to just try it myself. I have waxed before and i usually use Parissa warm wax, but i don't really like it. I was just wondering if anyone out there waxes or nairs or whatever themselves and what brand they use and if they think it is good or not? Or if anyone has tried..mmm i think its called epilady? anyway, please let me know what you are all using and how much pain/rashes/hair regrowth/cost/ is involved. thanks soo much
