It's great to hear that it is possible for the alterations to be done... I'm getting married Sept. 16 and once I get the final alterations, I'll just "maintain" Thanks, guys!!!

well if u have the person to do it, it's ok. i am also getting married this fall and I am frightened at the thought of endless fittings...however, i'd rather loose some pounds then feel unhappy on THE DAY!:)

Some seamstresses are wonderful and can alter a dress to a larger size with no problem. However, I would recommend going to an independent seamstress rather than one employed by a bridal shop. Not only will you save money, but they'll likely have more experience (perhaps).

Good luck and you can do it!

You will want to chat with your seamstress to see what she is comfortable doing - if you haven't chosen one, you can use this as their interview! I post on the Knot.com as well, and a girl said he seamstress could finish the work in just a few days - you may want to hold off on losing too much weight once the final fitting has been done - just concentrate on weight training to improve your shape! When is your wedding? I would love to get married this year, but finances and planning won't permit it, so we are looking at summer 2007.

yes! That is great to hear. I don't want to get to a weight then "stop" or "maintain" until the wedding, I want to keep on truckin'. Thank you so much for the advice!

From what I have been told, nothing is impossible! The alterations may cost more depending on how your dress is made, the detailing, etc. but in my opinion, your health and feeling great on your wedding day are worth it, right?
