Even though I am an Oregon girl now, I used to live in Las Vegas. My favorite chapel that I have seen weddings done at is the Excaliber. The prist dresses in a mid-evil theme and the chapel looks like it is from a castle, very faily tale like. For around $700 you get everything the chapel, flowers, pictures and video and dinner served for your guest, a very great deal. Another pretty one is the Balagio. Couples can get married on a gondola ride around the river that runs through the casino, very romantic and what a special way to say your vows. It is a little bit more cost wise, but the Balagio is a very classy casino indeed. Let me know what other ones you were thinking about.

I hear ya about losing weight for your wedding. I still have about 9 months until ours. I better be at goal by then. I'm not really sure what my goal is though. I'm starting for 150. At 159 I leave the overweight BMI and enter the 'NORMAL' range.
I'm thinking 145 would be nice, but maybe not realistic. I am in fairly good shape, and have lots of leg muscles.
Oh well, time will tell.

| I'm starting to consider changing my plans and going out to Vegas for the wedding myself! The date just seems so far away and I don't have the patience to wait that long! The only thing stopping me from suggesting that is the fact that I do not want to be this big on my wedding day so I need time to lose weight!! LOL

Ahh, Star Trek - too funny! Good for you!
Tropicana sounds nice.
We still haven't gone to see the travel agent. I think I'm getting cold feet. Why else would I not rush there to plan the happiest day of my life?
We are in the middle of renovating our house, and very busy. I don't know, maybe thats why.

| My best friend got married at the Tropicana in Vegas and it was very cute. The place where the ceremony was was a little tropical bungalow sort of thing and it was perfect. So if you are on a budget but want it in a popular hotel that's a good one. It's not the classiest hotel I know, but the wedding chapel is definitely very cute.

| I just wanted to let you know, I got married at the Silver Bell wedding Chapel on the strip 30 years ago. The marriage didn't last but the chapel is still there. There are plenty of chapels to choose from and they all offer lots of extras. Have fun planning it.

| Hello, I'm also getting married in Vegas on June 23rd 2007. I attended a wedding at the tropicana in Sept. and it was very nice and simple. That was how that couple did it, if you show up great, they didn't stress over what people were doing they just told everyone to do there own thing or join as a group.
|
|
|
|
| I went to a wedding at the Paris Chapel and it was beautiful. I stayed at the Venetian last summer for a bachelorette party, and we peeked in at the chapels. They looked VERY nice.

Hello all, I'm new here but HAD to chime in :) I'm getting married at the Valley of Fire in October. We are staying in Vegas and the wedding people will transport us to the location. If you're leary of the Vegas wedding Chapel, you can check this out!
We were in the midst of planning for 1.5 yrs...then everyone decided what they wanted us to do. This is when we decided to elope - and do it the way WE want. Now, we've told everyone what's going on...if they want to attend - it's up to them. (Makes for a stress-free bride)
Anyway - Congrats to all of you and Good Luck w/ your goals!!

Sorry for writing again...But I just re-read one of your posts The majority of the out of hotel chapels, from the outside, look like dumps. They are all in the shady part of the strip (lots of hookers, much dirtier etc..) I recommend using a hotel's chapel, especially if you're having guests.
I can't tell you how relieved I was as we were going to get our marriage licence, that I didn't choose a chapel on the strip.

I just got married in Las Vegas in March. We brought about 30 people with us-we had a great time We all stayed at the Monte Carlo Hotel which was just beautiful, and they totally catered to my Now husband and I. They gave us an awesome room upgrade, steamed my dress (for a small fee) champagne...the whole 9 yards!
We got married at the Princess wedding Chapel located in the Greek Isles Hotel and Casino. We had our reception there as well.
It was simple, and elegant, and they were very helpful. The place was clean and nice. A little off the strip, but not too bad.
It was VERY affordable.
There was one small glitch with the ceremony unfortunately...My husband and I had requested a Civil service as religion doesn't play a huge role in our lives, and there are some mixed cultures in our families, and we had an extremely religious service!!
We got to keep all of the pictures that were taken for a very reasonable cost as well, plus we get the rights to them, which means we can print them at will.
We also received a DVD.
If you want anymore information about this at all, please let me know! I have lots of pictures if you want to see them
Whatever you choose, have fun and enjoy!!!!

Thanks to you both! I will check those out. Good websites are appreciated. The hot-air balloon won't work because we have too many people coming. The strip might be nice though. Cheers!

Pictures, good or bad, would be appreciated. And if you see any real dumps, let me know so I can avoid them. We aren't getting married until next Jan or Feb, so I have plenty of time to book the chapel. Just the hotel and plane tickets I am worried about now.
We are going to a travel agent next week. We'll see what advice she gives us and I'll post what I find out too!
Thanks! Naan

Vegas is far from stress free... like you mentioned you are planning a wedding from a distance, plus if you were thinking I will shorten my guest list, it will just grow. We were thinking about Vegas, but decided against it because of the guest list.
As for the little chapels, some are really bad. Stick to the ones closer to the main strip if you want the little chapel.
When are you getting married? Just curious because we are heading back there for a friends wedding at the end of July. If you are getting married later in the year or next year, I would be more than happy to take some pictures and send them to you.

I agree - we are doing the same. I wanted a stress-free ceremony, whoever comes, comes. Now it is becoming more involved! Argh. I wanted to just show up and go get married. But I guess that turned out to be unrealistic because too many people are making a vacation out of this now, and they want to know when, where etc. yuck.
I expected planning the reception to be harder. I am not worried about that part right now.
Good luck to us!

| Heck no, it's not easy. When I tell people that we're getting married in Las Vegas they're like, "oh, well that should make planning a lot easier." No, it does not. We are still having a traditional reception at home for family and friends and I think it is so much harder planning a ceramony 800 miles away!

Exellent suggestions. We had decided we wanted to stay in a nice hotel, but get married in a little chapel for the fun of it. Are they really that run down? I don't want that. As we were surfing the net, my fiance commented on how some look like funeral chapels. That would be horrible to have the limo pull up to one of those places. Ugh.
I will check the ones you have all listed so far! We have been busy renovating our home and keep 'forgetting' that this is something we have to book and get done, so our families can plan to come if they want to. It isn't easy!!
 Thanks!

| I've been looking on the internet too. We are getting married in Vegas at the Stratoshpere Tower in June. Another one that I thought looked beautiful was at the Flamingo. I think they had one that you could have in a little gazebo in their bird garden. I was in Las Vegas last year and the bird garden is really pretty.

| The Bellagio is absolutely gorgeous...so is the Venetian, and my personal favorite...the Paris hotel. Mandalay Bay (which has a four seasons in it) is also quite nice. You should be able to find some pricing on-line. I agree with the other poster, stay away from the little chapels, they're pretty crappy...good luck!
|
|
|
|
| All of the major hotels have nice chapels. I don't know how they are price wise though. We just got back from Vegas yesterday. There are a lot of little chapels on the strip. If you are trying to have a nice wedding and avoid the cheesy/tacky aspect I would say stay away from the strip unless it's a major hotel. The little chapels on the strip are closer to the downtown area and some are really run down.
|
|
|
|
| I went to a wedding at Mandalay Bay and it was lovely. The hotel was really nice and the chapel was very nice. Good luck finding something!

Hi, We are planning on getting married in Las Vegas next January. We're very excited.
Any ideas or suggestions for a nice chapel? How about a hotel? Which ones are nice? Any stories of bad experiences of places to avoid? I love the idea, but am a little nervous of picking a place. I don't know where to start. I have checked on the internet though, and there are lots of places to pick from.
Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks, Naan
