My fiance took me on a surprise weekend trip for our four-year anniversary. He didn't tell me where we were going, but when we got there it was my favorite place. We had a great hotel room that led right out to the beach overlooking the water (although we couldn't swim - it was November in Michigan!) The next morning we drove to a scenic overlook to look at the bridge and while we were standing there he asked me to marry him. I was completely surprised because he had told me the ring was still being sized! He was very sneaky.

DF and I have been together almost four years and after 2 1/2 years of long-distance travel (NY-Orlando) I broke down, packed my bags, and gave up my NY-skyline view apartment and bachelorette lifestyle to move to sunny Florida. There was no question whether he was worth the risk, and we've been enjoying living together very much. We've been talking around marriage for a while- there's no question that we're both in this for the long haul, but no dates had been set.

Well, two weeks ago Drew asked if we wanted to go out to the Melting Pot, since we hadn't been out for a nice dinner in a while. I thought that was a great idea, so the next day after work I shuffled my errands to Friday and we hustled over for a 6 pm reservation. I was suspicious, but it was just a nice mid-week treat- the food was tasty and there was much of it! After we got home, however, Drew shuffled me to the sofa, sat me down and said "Stay here!" I made some quip that someone was being suspicious so he dramatically tiptoed from the room and came back with something hidden behind his back. Mischevious imp that he is, he got down on one knee, presented the ring, and asked me if I would marry him. I seem to remember throwing myself at him and prattling gleefully before I realised that I hadn't actually said "yes" yet, and then said it several times. We were both quite giddy and there was much cuddling and kissing on the floor which puzzled the cats.

I was vaguely aware that he had been preoccupied- now I know why! He had special-ordered a custom ring, and there was some problem with delivery. We're not a very traditional couple and I have no interest in diamonds, so he'd had a titanium band ring engraved and enameled with 7 matese crosses. While the proposal wasn't a surprise, the ring was and I'm completely delighted! No date yet, but we're having fun brainstorming ideas. :}

It was approaching Christmas & as I have 5 children i asked my boyfriend if we could have a $20 limit on our presents for each other. Considering he was a big spender I thought this would be a hard task for him to hold to. We bothe decided to combine money to give the children a Christmas they would never forget. Christmas morning came & went as perfect as we had planned it to be, all the children had opened thier presents so it was just my boyfriend & I left to exchange gifts. I was waiting for my ritual dolphin jewlwery or figureine as I collect them but instead he gives me a big moving box. he was behind me the whole time so I opened the box & slowly a big helium dolphin balloon starts floating out & attached to it was a piece of ribbon & a little card on the bottom of that reading " Marry Me " I then turned around with a stunned look on my face & there he was on his knee with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. It took me about 5 mins before I could say yes as the most perfect proposal left me breathless.

love all these stories, brings a tear to my eye and a giggle to my lips..

My fiance and I met each other through our involvement in the burning man festival and the related community in Seattle. We'd been talking about getting married for a little bit and hade gone to look at rings. This year at Burning Man, at the end of the week, on Saturday night after they burned the man, he suggested we go out for a walk in the desert. We walked for a little bit and then he said he needed to get something out of his back pack, I am spacing out and looking at all the lights back in the "city" and when I turn around he is on one knee with a box in his hand. He asked me to be his wife and of course I said yes. He caught me completely by surprise, it was awesome.

After our walk, he went to bed and I ran around all night showing everyone who would sit still the ring, lol..

We're getting married in Hawaii on April 21st :)

I was presenting a poster on the research I had been doing on some cancer cells at the student research symposium at my university. The school was *smart* and only had lemonaide or coffee for us to drink. I knew I was going to have to be speaking to people for a couple of hours and this would not suffice. I of course didn't have any money on me to get some water. I knew my fiance would be coming to see my poster in a little bit, so I called him and asked if he would bring me a bottle of water for me when he came. He said he would. Anyways, he came and made me go through my whole poster for him. When I was finished, he asked if I wanted my bottle of water. I said sure. He kneeled down on the floor to get the bottle out of his bad and said that I could have it but there was a string attached. He pulled out the bottle with the ring attached to it with a string and asked me to marry him. I was pretty much in shock, because I wasn't expecting anything. I knew he had ordered a ring, but this was april and I was expecting it maybe June or July... He had gotten the ring in much earlier than he was even expecting. I nodded my head and gave a squeaking "uh-huh" :-D - 15 minutes later I had to be reminded what had happened because I didn't remember - I was so shocked!

On June 22, 2007 my fiance and I went to St. Louis MO to see Phantom of the Opera at the Fox Theatre (one of our favorite plays!). We went to my aunt's house (his co-conspirator) to get ready, we got all dressed up, and went with my aunt and uncle to Old Spagetti Factory (one of the neatest restaurants in STL). I noticed all night that he was being really quiet and couldn't figure out if he just wasn't excited- but he is a quiet guy so I just let it pass. After we ate we realized that it had started raining- not a horrible storm or anything just a light, soft, summer rain. I began to notice that the 3 of them were acting sort of antsy but again just let it pass. After dinner we drove to the Arch, and found the only covered carriage that was running. I thought that was my surprise- I had told him before that I thought they were so romantic and wanted to ride one, but didn't think we were going to. We got on the carriage, and he gave me a poem/letter he had written about how he was going to take care of me once again I thought that was my surprise... then he got down on one knee (yes in the carriage). And asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes and we're now getting married on June 23, 2007.

My fiance and I decided to go on a cruise over my spring break because I was really stressed out. I am a full time nursing student working a full time job and my family life was going haywire. It was a 7 day cruise that went to the bahamas and florida. On the second to last night he took me to the back of the ship and pulled to chairs up to side of the deck. It was pitch black outside, no one else was out there, and all I could see was the water and the stars. We just sat there talking and a kissed him. While I was kissing him he moved from his chair to down on one knee in front of me. He then proceeded to tell me that he could not imagine spending one day of his life with out me and wanted me to spend the rest of my life with him. Then he asked me to marry him. He had the ring sitting in the box on my knee. It was soo sweet.

My fiance and I are weirdos.

You see, we went to a university where the squirrels had positively diabolical looks on their little faces, and Tom was telling me how he knew they had plans to take over the world and I told him exactly how they planned to do it. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him right then and there, three weeks into our relationship.
No ring or anything, just utterly spontaneous but completely serious at the same time. My ring came a month later but I didn't care. Having the ring with him at the time would have been too planned for me anyway.

We were supposed to marry on Memorial Day Weekend of 2005, however in December of 2004 my fiance was diagnosed with lupus and had to stay at home for treatments for a year and a half. This canceled our wedding plans, and now that his treatments are finally over he is trying to get back working and supporting himself again before we marry, which will probably be as spontaneous as our engagement.

The night Jeremy asked me to marry him was completely without glamour, but not without romance.

To preface things a little: we both work at a seasonal Renaissance festival. For 4 months of the year (Feb-May) we give up our weekends to immerse ourselves in a recreation of 1533 England (sort of, but I digress). We met there, at Scarborough Faire, in January of 2004. Fast forward to May 1, 2005. We’ve been dating for almost a year. My parents (who at the time lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I grew up) were visiting for the weekend. That was to be the first time they’d seen me “in character.” Now, my big brother & his wife are also on cast with us. That becomes important later.

So, we work outside in the Texas weather (rain, shine, heat & humidity) all day long. From about 8:30 am to 9:30 or 10 at night, in funny clothes, pretending to be people from the past. As you can imagine, this is an exhausting experience. So, Sunday night, after a very full weekend, my fiancé, my roommate (also a cast member) and I are making the hour drive home. As a sort of end-of-day tradition, we ask one another a series of questions.

What was the high point of your day?
My roommate and I both respond, then turn to Jeremy, who says, “Well the highlight of my day was….oh, wait. I can’t say that. I’ll tell you later.” I gave him a quizzical look, but figuring that maybe it was a private sort of thing, I’d wait until my roommate was out of the car and ask again. We moved on to the next question.

What was the low point of your day?
Again, my roommate and I answer and wait for Jeremy. Who says, “Well, I guess it was…oh, I shouldn’t say that either. I promise, I’ll tell you later.” Another quizzical look. Moving on to the next question.

What did you learn today?
As you can probably guess, it was a repeat of the first two questions. Luckily, we were almost home, so my quizzical look didn’t last too long.

We get home. My roommate grabs her things and heads to her car. Jeremy and I are standing in the parking lot. I notice that there’s a full moon. The flowers he’d bought me earlier are clutched in my hand. Jeremy comes to stand next to me and reaches for my hand. At which point I not-so-subtly expressed my sincere desire to use the bathroom as soon as possible. (Hey, we have to drink a lot of water to battle the heat, and it was a long car ride home!)

Inside the house, as soon as necessities are taken care of, I turn to Jeremy and begin asking the questions again. What were these mysterious things that he couldn’t tell Paula about? He sighs and says that to properly explain he needs a prop. (In retrospect, I should have expected this. But no, I was completely clueless). I said, “Ok then, why don’t you meet me at my car.” See, we were on our way to go have a late dinner with my parents, my brother & his wife, and I had volunteered to drive, since he drove the long way home.

As you can imagine, he looked at me somewhat aghast, but said ok.
So I’m sitting in my car, waiting. He climbs in and before I can start the car he grabs my hand. He explains that the low point of his day was spending the day trying to find my parents so he could speak with them, and the high point was talking to my father and asking his blessing on marrying me. I smiled and blushed, but we’d talked about this, so it wasn’t a big surprise. Then he said that he wanted me to be his wife. I nodded and smiled and said, “I know.” Because I did! We’d talked about marriage; we knew we wanted to get married someday, to each other even. We were just waiting for the time to be right. And he didn’t ask a question, so I didn’t think it was the proposal. Then he took my hand and placed a black velvet box in it, and said perhaps the most unromantic words ever. “No, seriously.”

But it was perfect. The light bulb clicked on and I started to cry. There was hugging and a kiss that said yes. I think I actually said, “okay.” Then I asked if I could open the box.
He’d had the ring custom designed by a friend of ours who is a jeweler. (Pictures on my SparkPage too).

What he learned that day: The worst place in the world to be is with someone else’s’ engagement ring stuck on your finger! He’d shown the ring to my brother’s wife, and she’d tried the ring on… oops! Luckily it came off all right, and she & I both agree it looks better on me!

Disneyland is our absolute favorite place to be! When we first started dating, we found out that one of the things we had in common was our love for Disneyland. So, it made sense that our first vacation together was to Disneyland! Well, for our second vacation, we went back and it was during the 45th anniversary celebration. We took our picture in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle and we made a deal that trip that if we were still together in 2005 for the 50th celebration, we would take another picture in front of the castle to update it.

We went to Disneyland the Sunday before Christmas because he wanted to update our christmas picture, get our 50th anniversary picture in front of the castle and also because he wanted to see Disneyland all decked out in the christmas decorations. So, we drove up from San Diego, walked into the park and took our new christmas picture in front of the big christmas tree they have on Main Street. After the picture, we walk down Main Street towards the castle and as we get closer to the castle we see this HUGE crowd of people. Before I can even say, what is going on, we look and see Mickey is climbing the Matterhorn. So, we waited about 20 minutes for Mickey to climb up the mountain and to give time for the crowd that had formed to clear so it wasn't insane in front of the castle. During all of this, Nick is just completely annoyed and flustered and I had no idea why. We walk over to the castle and start to pose for pictures. After we had taken two pictures, the cast member wanted us to put our hands together so they can put Tinkerbell in the picture. Nick stops him and says, "There is something I have to do first" and the next thing I know, he is pulling a black velvet box out of his pocket and is dropping to one knee. Of course, I start crying instantaneously and say, " Are you kidding me!!!!" and all I can see is this ring just sparkle. I was in utter disbelief. I have no idea what he said and even if he did ask me to marry him but I finally said, "are you going to put the ring on my finger?" His answer was, "yes, as soon as you take your promise ring off of your left hand!" As it turns out, everyone in his family and my parents, brother and girlfriend all had known since Thanksgiving this was going to happen and nobody told me. But, if I had known, the proposal wouldn't have been as great as it was!!

My fiance, Stan took me to my favorite restaurant (The Keg). Beforehand, he had arranged for a dozen blue roses to be sitting on the table for me (blue roses are my favorite flowers). After dinner, he got down on one knee and proposed to me. While he was doing this, I could hear girls around me going , "ahhhh". After that, the supervisor of the restaurant asked if it was good news. I said ,"yes". Then she brought us free champagne. He did this all on my 28th birthday. We will be getting married July 7, 2007

Randy and I had actually been talking about "the wedding" for 6 months before he proposed. When I was married the first time we just sort of drifted into marriage with no formal proposal. I told Randy that this time I wanted the whole ball of wax...one knee and everything. We knew we wanted a Christmas Wedding...Christmas Eve to be exact. So last Christmas (2005) we had Christmas Eve with my kids and grandkids and had a great time. Christmas morning we were alone...we opened gifts and when we were done, Randy got on one knee and asked me to be his wife the following Christmas Eve. He had picked out the ring all by himself and when he slipped it on my finger, I just loved it. So then the plans became official and we will be married on Christmas Eve 2006.

Hi everyone! I just love to read the proposal stories too--so cute!

JOTRKMOMMY, what a sweet idea about getting the rings made from the same piece of platinum--and one for DD too! :)

Well, here's my story:

Adam and I celebrated our 3-year anniversary in January of this year, and as his gift to me, he gave me a box and all that was in it was maps he had printed from Mapquest. I was so confused, until he pointed out that they were maps to jewelry stores! His gift to me was to go ring shopping--not to pick out a ring, just to give him an idea of what I like. He figured this is something I'll be wearing for the rest of my life, I might as well love it! He said that he had 2 years to propose to me after then. So, I found a style that I liked (estate/antique look).

I figured it would be a while before he asked me, considering he had 2 years to do it. So, on June 2 (about a month ago!) I was talking to my mom on the phone and she goes, "Oh, Adam is walking up the driveway! Here, I'll give him the phone." I guess he mouthed NO and gave her a look, and she suddenly realized what was going on and said, "Oh, it wasn't Adam. It was someone else. Those guys with crew cuts all look the same. I have to go now." I thought it was weird, but didn't suspect anything.

So, about an hour later he arrived at my apartment and I didn't really suspect anything, so I didn't ask him if he went to my parent's house or not. We were getting ready to go out with my friends that night, and he said he wanted to take a quick nap. So, after I got ready I went into my room to get some jewelry to wear from a large soft-sided case I have (my side job is to sell Premier Designs jewelry, so I have a big case to carry it all) and he asked if he could see my jewelry. So, I pulled all of the trays out and showed him my pieces. He pointed to one tray that had ring boxes in it and said, "What are these?" I thought they were empty, so I said, "Oh, they don't have anything in them." He picked one of the boxes up and opened it and it had a ring in it--one of my rings. So, without realizing what was going on, I said, "Let's play a game and take turns picking boxes and see who gets the most!" So, we went back and forth and it was my turn to pick with 2 boxes left. (He later said he couldn't remember which box the engagement ring was in!) I picked an empty one, and then he picked the last one and opened it towards himself and said, "This one has a ring in it!" and turned it around, got on his knee and asked me to marry him! He later told me that he'd had the ring since March, and was just waiting for the right time to do it. :) There are pictures of the ring and my dress on my Sparkpage.

These are great stories! I love reading them, however I do not have one to add ... yet! My guy and I are already planning our wedding, many of you have seen me around on the boards ... but I don't have a ring yet.

I have a two year old from my first (mistake) marriage, and we are planning to design our own rings. However, they will be made all from one block of metal (most likely platinum, if we can get it), and there will be two for me, one for him ... and one for my daughter. So we aren't quite official yet I guess. But I definitely hope he is looking to give me a story to tell ...

This is such a romantic idea that I thought I would add our story too.
Tracy and I meet through friends about 6 years ago. We both had been through really bad divorces so neither one of us were ready for marrage. He has a 13 year old son and I have an 11 year old son and we also have a beautiful 2 year old son, so we are very busy people.
Every year in the fall Tracy goes deer hunting with a bunch of guys for a week. Last October he went to Eastern Oregon. When he came home he was standing in the garage with his hunting gear on and smelling because he had not showered in a week. I walked out to him to welcome him home and he started crying telling me he missed me and wanted me to always be with him forever and asked me to marry him. He got down on knee and held my hand, since he had not planned on asking me, he had not pick out a ring. I was surprised because we had never really talked about getting married, but that was the happest moment of my life.
I did get a ring a few weeks later, which was good because we both could check them out together before we purchased. But once I got the ring on my finger I stared telling all of our family and friends.

SORRY THIS IS SO LONG!!

Karl and I had been doing the long distance thing (Mexico City and Austin, TX)for about two years and we had already discussed the subject. We knew we definitely wanted to get married but I still have to finish college. He always said that when I had an idea of when I'd graduate we'd start looking into it.

It all happened on a family trip. I was out for the weekend with my parents and my sister. We were set to meet some family friends at this little cottage villa in a forest type setting. So after a 5 hour drive and my dad inexplicably giggling the whole way there, we arrived. Someone asked me to check the cabin next door to see pick which we would stay in. I looked into a room and saw someone's feet peeping out... I honestly thought I was in the wrong cabin and ran out of there. Once I was out, I heard the door open and I figured it was the (very angry) owner... but no. I was Karl, just standing there and smiling. I knew then that he was going to propose. But the surpise was too much to bear. I think I started crying right away. He took me into the cabin, got down on one knee and proposed.

There were a lot of tell-tale signs that I failed to notice because, as I said, I didnt expect that to happen for a while:

I mean, he comes to Mexico quite often but we never travel much because he has a busy schedule and is usually tired, so being that far, it was the last place he'd be at.

Also, his bathroomstuff-pouch (whatever you call that) was in there, but I thought someone owned one just like that...
Oh and his suitcase was in the living room. DUH.

Mine wasn't romantic by any means...

we had been talking about getting engaged for awhile and I think he was waiting until Valentine's Day to do it and I knew he had been looking for a ring. Well, the weekend before V-Day we were at Sam's Club (LOL) and noticed that they had some REALLY nice jewelry so I was just trying on rings for the heck of it. Well, I found one that I just loved so he said "well do you want to get it?" LOL So we went back the next day and he officially asked me in the car in Sam's parking lot and put it on my finger. We always joke around about how he proposed in the tools section of Sam's LOL It would have been romantic had I wanted to wait but I didn't want to wait LOL

These are so fun to read and I am glad some are long so I don't feel so bad about what I am about to do:

We had been dating about 10 months, which in my mind was not long. I knew we were in this for the long haul, we had moved in together but I had planned to get impatient in about a year. So I was cool.

He apparently was ready. In April 2005, we visited his parents in Palm Beach and he told his mom his intentions. She offered her engagement ring to him. So in May 05, we flew to Vienna, Austria where he was born to see his sister and the same day his parents came up to CT to cat sit for us. When planned to meet at the airport to swap house keys (they stayed at our house, we stayed at thier apt in Vienna). She hands Nico (my fiance) a ziplock bag with the keys, instructions, their international mobile phone and THE RING, which she'd had cleaned. Well me being a control freak, I grab the bag and put it in my carry on. Why I didn't take inventory of the bag, I will never know. Divine intervention.

Two days into our trip, we have dinner with some friends of his at this gorgeous restaurant that is built in the greenhouse of one of the palaces in the city. It was so nice there. It rained terribly while we were in this amazing glass restaurant but it had stopped when we left. We decided to walk home through the palace garden. He was telling me how much his life has changed since he met me and I started crying because it made me think of all the bad relationships I had been through before I met him and how lucky and overwhleming it was to finally be with someone so right.

So now I have done the unthinkable- mentioned the exes. I think he would have proposed right there had I not done that.

We go back to the apartment where he grew up and it is about 2 am. We open a bottle of champagne and sit on the windowsill in the living room. It is pitch black in the apartment and there is light shining in from the courtyard outside. He says, I have a present for you. I have NO IDEA he is going to propose. So he says, this is not the American kind, its more European so if you don't like it, we can get the American kind. Then he goes in his jacket pocket and the courtyard light goes out. There is no light. It looks like the pink Fauchon chocolate boxes. So I think he got me European chocolate. I am so transfixed on why he got me French chocolate when we are in Austria that I don't catch half of what he is saying. But then he says, "I never thought I would do this. Will you marry me." And I have to catch up to speed. I am like, Is that a ring? Did he just say will you marry me? Where is the chocolate?

I just started hugging him and crying and after like a minute he was like, "I am hoping you are going to say yes" and I said Yes of course I will! So we turned on the lights and my ring is the beautiful white gold eternity band of marquis diamonds. It fit perfectly with no fittings and I am so happy his family likes me so much that his mom would give us her ring!

We are getting married June 29 in Mamaroneck, NY for my family and September 8 in Vienna for his family.

My fiance and I got engaged while I went down to South Carolina to visit him because he was graduating from bootcamp for the national guard. The ring that i have right now, is one that has been in the family for years, well his mom and Joey(my fiancee) both told me that he was probably going to propose to me, but I made sure not to get my hopes up. Well, we were hanging out in my hotel room down there and he told me to go grab this light thing out of his pocket on his jacket, well it wasn't in there, but at the same time I pulled the ring box out....But, it didn't look like a ring box to me really, so I didn't want to get my hopes up, but Joey was being really quiet and stuff, so thats when I started to get suspicious. So then I asked him what the box was, and he was like oh something my battle buddies gave me ya know, and he was like you can open it if you want too, so I opened it and I started freaking out. I could not believe that I was getting engaged, so after all the crying and me jumping into his arms, he took the box from me and asked if I would marry him one day, it was so romantic! But, I had to leave South Carolina without him, but he does come home in August, so that will be good! I'm so excited to be able to spend my life with him, because he is my everything and he is truly my rock that keep me strong and stuff!

Hey all. I got engaged on April 8th and it was amazing. Dann and I do theatre together (it's how we met, cast opposite each other) and had a show that weekend. On closing night, after curtain call, Dann stepped to the front of the stage with a microphone he had hidden in his tuxedo jacket (just so happened that was his last costume in the show). He proposed in front of hundrededs of audience members, and gave me a one-of-a-kind ring we'd found in December that I'd thought someone else had bought (nope, it was him). The things he said were beautiful, and I was totally taken aback. To make it even better, almost 50 of my close friends and family had secretly planned to be there, AND the filming crew added the proposal to the end of the the show's DVD. Now we have that moment forever! :)

My Fiance and I are volunteers at a haunted attraction in my hometown. Actually, he is one of the owners. That is where we met. My aunt and uncle are also owners. We had just finished scaring for the night last October, and were having his nightly meeting. My fiance said he had one more announcement for the night. He waited until his best friend got in the room and got down on one knee. All I can remember is that he said something about the best 9 months of his life and I don't remember much else other than saying yes. It was also our 9 month anniversary.

Hello I'm Yvonne and 6 years ago the moment of a lifetime happened. I met Frank. We liked going to this karaoke bar up in Chicago. After weeks of singing our hearts out to each other, we started dating. The most memorable for me was when we went to the Graue Mill in Lyons, IL. There was a walking path there with a waterfall. It was autumn and you could smell the log fires & burning leaves. Pumpkin & Apple spice filled the air. We stopped at the pond to feed the ducks. Just sat there next to each other talking and tossing bread. May not sound like much to some, but it was heaven for me.
We got engaged on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. A sunny September day. No one on the beach but Frank, my best friend Vic & Moi...
As the sun set over the lake that day we walked out to the main pier. A beautiful setting as you can imagine. Frank got down on one knee, and said "I know that we have only been dating a few weeks, but I know in my heart that you and I are meant to be together so...will you marry me?" After I composed myself I of course said "Yes, I Love you with all my Heart!" BTW we are a 7/7/7/7 couple. The 7th year anniversary of our engagement we are getting married July 7th, 2007.

Hi my name is Caroline and I'm getting married July 22, 2006. My fiance was working in Mexico for a year so I went and lived with him in a small village for a couple of months. The night I arrived we hadn't seen each other in 7 weeks so I was pretty excited, plus I was going to live in Mexico for 2 months! He picked me up and brought me to a beautiful hotel suite with an amzing view. My trip had taken me 14hrs( I had a 10hr wait in NY) so the first thing I wanted to do was take a shower. When I came out there were rose petals EVERYWHERE, 24 yellow roses(my favorite) and a champagne bottle. I figured something was going on. He sat me down, knelt on one knee and said these words exactly...." blabededo..ohh!" It was halarious, but of course I didn't laugh. He tried again and the same sounds came out. He was soooo nervous so I just got up and started saying YES YES YES. Poor guy had a big speech he had written but couldn't say a word of it he was so nervous. I always tease him that he never really asked me to marry him. We went out to a beautiful restaurant on the roof of our hotel in front of a beautiful cathedral. Just our luck that night there were huge fire works as they lite the lights of the cathedral. That was also the night we had scorpions for dinner. It was a beautiful and memerobale night. The sweetest thing is he called my mom and dad a month before to ask for my hand in mariage. I later found out he was just as nervous asking my parents. I'm looking forward to our wedding day and I hope he won't be too nervous and will be able to say "I do".

Proposal story.

He draged me out hill walking on the 29th of December. We live in Scotland, it was cold and icy underfoot, windy and miserable. I complained loudly for over an hour as we climbed to the top of hill, moaning that I was cold, that my legs hurt, that I hated him for making me walk in the cold... and then at the very top, with the most amazing views around us, he asked me to marry him... just about forgiven him for the cold icy walk now:)

I don't know if people are still readng this thread, but I am new to sparkpeople and thought I would join in!

So here is our story:
We met while working at summer jobs on a island in Northwestern Washington State. We bacame great friends but I was dating someone else :( We then went back to college in the fall continuing our friendship through daily e-mails and weekly phone calls. (He was in California, I was in Washington.) The following summer I didn't return to the island for work, but since we were in the same state we did get to see each other once in a while. One weekend we both went with a group of friends to Canada. And I realized he liked me! But I still had a boyfriend (although it hadn't been working it quite a while...since it started really!) At the end of the weekend we were playing and joking with each other and there was this moment when I could feel that he was about to kiss me. I freaked out and ducked away! After we dropped him off I told my friends. They were both like "FINALLY!" Everyone knew that we liked each other even though neither of us had admitted it.

A few weeks later he came to see me to say goodbye, as he was on his way back to California. After that weekend in Canada I had finally broken up with my boyfriend becuase it helped me realize what I was missing out on. When he came to visit we finally both told each other how we felt. For the next year we dated long distance. A horrible 9 hour drive away. He was so amazing! He came to see me 13 times in 9 months, even though most times it was just for a weekend! During this time I spent a month in South Africa, and I wrote him a letter for each day I would be gone! When I came home he was waiting with my parents at the airport! He could only stay six hours though because he had a test back at school! He drove for 18 hours just to see me for six! That is when I knew he was a keeper.

Finally, he moved to Washington and although I never wanted to live with someone before I got married I knew that he was the one so I gave in. Now on to the engagment!

I am very picky about things I wear, and I knew exactly what I wanted for an engagment ring. So we went together to pick it out. They didn't have exactly what I wanted anywhere, so we ended up having it made. So I knew when he had the ring. But he wasn't asking!! For weeks everything he did I thought he was about to propose! On our nightly walks I would think it was it, we went on a picnic and I thought it was it, one morning he was making pancakes and told me not to come in the kitchen (I thought he was spelling Will you marry me out in pancakes!!- yes, I was going a little crazy!) He was actually putting red food dye in them to make them look bloody. HaHa it was near Halloween. Nope, nothing! I keep getting excited and then let down. Although I do have to say that I never once tried looking for the ring (I hadn't seen the finished product so I was excited to see it!) I did find out later that he had gotten extra jewelry boxes from the store and hidden "decoys" around in case I did try!!

So every year my entire family ges to a pumpkin patch just before halloween. My husband and I have a tradition of searching for THE PERFECT PUMPKIN, so it usually takes us a long time. As we were searching he keep saying that over and over. We walked WAY out to the far corner of the patch and he called me over. He had bent down to touch on of the pumpkins and said "Do you think THIS could be the perfect pumpkin?" As I looked over I say a pumpkin with a heart shape cut out of it. In the middle was sparkly easter like grass with the ring box in it!! Since he was already down on his knee he just had to pull it out! It was sooo romantic! And when we turned around my whole family was there (at a distance) clapping and taking pictures. It was great to have everyone in on the surpise!

Our year (almost exactly to the day) engagment was followed in a perfect wedding in Maui, Hawaii. And six months later we are VERY happy!

I love hearing proposal stories.

My Fiance and I talked about getting engaged for months and he always said he was going to wait until we had finished college and we were no longer 200 miles away from each other. But my thoughts were always..well there would be nothing wrong with being engaged for a while, just seal the commitment. Turns out he was really thinking the same thing.

We went for a valentines trip to Paris this Feb and on Valentines day we chose to go to the Eiffel Tower twice once in the day and again in the evening. He had made sure I was gonna dress up for the evening. He took me to a great restaurant and I had my favourite french dish. My Fiance is afraid of heights and on the evening trip he didn't seem to be worried at all of course once we got to the top I found out why.

As we got outside at the top he told me how amazing and beautiful I was and he got down on one knee and asked if I would be his wife. Of course I said yes!

Awww, I love reading other peoples stories.

My fiance enjoyed driving me crazy, teasing me about getting engaged. He told me when he bought the ring, and even showed me the box it was in and where he was hiding it in his bedroom but I wasn't allowed to see it. This went on for a good 6 months and it was driving me absolutely crazy. He kept telling me I would get it when I least expect it because he wanted to catch me off guard.
Well, it was one day at hockey practice. You see, my fiance is the coach of a women's hockey team and he's trying to teach me how to skate. He had me meet with all the girls at center ice and had them sing Happy Birthday to me. (My birthday was earlier in the week). I hate it when people make a big deal about things like that so I tried to playfully smack him for embarrassing me. Finally, I stood there and let them finish. Then when I turn around to yell at him, I see him getting down on one knee. I actually said under my breath "are you kidding me" since it was completely unexpected.
He told me "Sweetheart, there's been something I've been meaning to ask you....Will you marry me?"
Of course I said yes and the team had a little celebration for us at the end of practice.

I'm such a baby. This thread keeps making me tear up!

YEAH4ME, I'm a little like you were when you started this thread. IMPATIENT. Early in our relationship, my boyfriend and I talked about our expectations when it came to living together. I told him I didn't want to live with anyone until I was married, and he said he couldn't marry someone without living with them first. So we compromised and said we would get engaged, then live together, then get married.
Fast forward to one week after our one year anniversary. We were just lying in bed, cuddling and be gross/cute, and he said to me, "I think we should get a place together when your lease is over." That was in February! Now it's April, and still no "Big Question." My lease isn't over until January 1st, so I have a lot of time to wait. But, let me tell you, it is so agonizing sometimes! I don't know what he's waiting for!

Every once in a while I get really antsy about it, and I start looking at rings, and gowns, and flowers, and invitation designs, etc, etc. Or, you know, reading other people's proposal stories! As soon as he asks (if he ever gets around to it!) I'll post the story here. Until then... I wait...

All these stories are so wonderful...congratulations to everyone!
My fiance, Joe took me to Chagrin Falls (gorgeous area in Cleveland area, I always considered it to be a good date place but had never had a date there, and he knew it) to a fancy seafood restaurant. We were seated at their best table in the corner (I was facing the waterfalls, Joe a brick wall). We ate and after our plates were cleared we were sitting and talking and I looked over and noticed our matre'd walking around carrying a HUGE bouquet. He didn't walk towards us though, he looked as though he couldn't find who he was looking for. Until he showed up next to my chair and said 'here we are!' The proposal was written on the card, it said "love is finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and asking her to marry you" and then Joe got down on one knee and I said 'Yes!' The matre'd asked if I said yes and then he told the other people in the room and everyone applauded, it was like a movie!
After we left the restaurant, Joe said he had another surprise (I couldn't think of what else he could do!) He drove us to a Coldstone Creamery and standing outside waiting for us were my best friend, her boyfriend and a handfull of my family to celebrate with us. Very romantic and very wonderful!
Exactly one month to go til the wedding tomorrow!

Here's a nice one- apparently my fiance had the ring for about 2-3 months and had been TRYING to get me to go away for a weekend, but I kept saying- ok when, where and I need to get off of work- so in other words it never happened...

Fast forward to our friend's Annual Halloween Party- the friends who introduced us BTW... I was dressed up as a hot air balloon and he was an Indian Telecom Worker (not very PC, but that's who he works with! lol!) So we're there for like 3 hours, getting drunk.. blah blah blah....

He brings me in a room all alone and is kissing me and telling me how much he loves me and wants to spend forever with me and I THOUGHT HE WAS DRUNK! LOL! Then he drops on one knee and pops out a ring! I just about died!

So I was proposed to by an Indian man with a turban! lol!!!

My fiance and I were looking at engagement rings for a few months when we found a diamond that I really loved, but I didn't like the band. We had previously look at almost every jewlery store in town and had not found one that I felt comfortable with. Because this was such a big purchase, we told the jewler that we would need to think about it and at this time she informed us that another couple was interested in it and she would need a decision by the next day or she would have to ship it to another store. We agreed and my fiance and I went home.

The next morning, my fiance called me with some bad news. The jewler had called in sick and the person filling in could not locate the diamond. They feared it had been shipped out by mistake.

After a little heartbreak, I moved on and wished to continue looking. But my fiance was not in the mood to look anymore. I couldn't convince him to look at rings anymore. I actually feared that he was having second thoughts.

Over a month later, plans of an elaborate proposal involving a stage, some actors, and my entire family go array when my 4-year old nephews and my 50+ year old dad can't mover as fast as the rest of us can to make it to a show on time. I was proposed to with the ring I had chosen and thought lost, in a cabin in the hills of the Ozarks.

I got the best of both worlds: An elaborate plan to propose in front of a hundred strangers (and family), that didn't work out. And a beautifully personal proposal with just the two of us.

I love hearing all your stories - Congrats to you all!!

My husband and I had been together 4 years, and were actively planning a wedding for May 2006, but were trying to save money for a ring before making it "official". He always said, "I'd marry you tomorrow in a heartbeat." We purchased the ring, but he insisted it was up to him when he gave it to me. That was a hard wait. He suggested we go to dinner to our favorite restaurant (rather fancy, we usually go there maybe once a year), and I started to get suspicious. But then I realized what day it was - April Fool's Day, and thought it would be just like him to mess with my head by making me think that would be the night. When I got home from work, I was stunned to see he had cleaned my whole apartment, saying he wanted me to have a nice place to come home to. We went out to dinner, he had arranged to have us seated in the same exact table as the first time we were there, and had arranged to have us served on these awesome plates that the restaurant had used years ago, but had discontinued. When they brought out my salad, the ring was there, in its green box. When he realized I saw it, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I was amazed by his thoughtfulness and blown away by his attention to detail.

I know this is long, but it gets better. About 3 months into our "official" engagement, my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I was up visiting my Mom and my sister, we went to a florist, and my Mom told us that the test results were really not good. It was very advanced and aggressive. They were not even sure he would live until May. She asked if we would be willing to move up the wedding. I said yes. We immediately went to the reception facility we had already signed the contract with and asked them when there soonest available date was. It was 3 weeks away. I tried to get ahold of Mike, but couldn't. So I said we would take it. I drove to his place that night and said I needed to talk to him. I said, "Remember how you always say you would marry me tomorrow? Well, you have your chance." He didn't even bat an eye, was unbelievably supportive, which is one of the reasons I love him so very much.

The next 3 weeks were a flurry, just madness. My sisters made all the bridesmaid dresses, I was trying to move, plan a wedding, and deal with my Dad's illness all in 3 weeks. But I really felt that as long as Mike and I were there, we had a minister who could marry us, and those we loved were there, everything else was just a bonus. That helped keep me calm. And it came together just beautifully. I could not have asked for more. I picked a special song to dance with my Dad, and he just sobbed. The next day, he left for a special treatment facility and began 4 months of intensive treatment. The very best part of the story is that is looks like his prognosis is very hopeful. And when I look back on it, I now just can't imagine having to wait until this May to be married.

Thanks for listening to my long, involved tale.

Wow! Great ring! Congratulations :)

My fiance and I had been dating about 2 years and I had relocated for him, so we had talked about marriage, and gone ring shopping, but wasn't expecting a proposal until this summer.

He arranged dinner with another couple at a really nice restuarant, but they "cancelled" at the last minute. Then we went back to his house to watch a movie. I opened the door and the place was lit with candles and rose petals were all over the place. There was a small scavenger hunt around the house with the last clue being blank. I turned around and he was on one knee. I immediately started to cry and then said yes :)

It was such a surprise and I loved that we have another memory in what is soon to be our house"

First of all, congratulations - that is so awesome!

Second, I know you were just passing time until your own story, but I thought I'd share mine too...

My fiance and I had been dating for almost four years. We knew we were going to get married, we'd talked about it, he'd asked my parents about a year and a half before, but he was really committment shy. We're both in college and he felt like he was too young. So, I go out to SD for 4th of July weekend (I live in MI, so this is my once a year trip out there to see him and his family - we go to the same college). I get to his house and his whole family is there for his grandma's birthday dinner. His grandma walks in and his mom pulls her over to the side to show her something, so I started to suspect. Later that night, we were on our way to the bar to meet his friends. I told him that I had finally gotten my promise ring fixed (the band was weak, so I got a shank put on). He stopped the car and said "you know what, I don't like that ring." Then he got out of the car (in the middle of the road) and got down on one knee. He pulled out another ring and said "I like this one better. Katie, will you marry me?" I started laughing (good laughter!) and then I said yes. I leaned over and kissed him and he took the ring out of the box and put it on my finger. Then he pulled out his cell phone and told me to call my parents and then his (even though we were 2 blocks from his house). I knew it was coming, but it was still a surprise. He was going to do it the next day when his family was all there, but he couldn't wait any longer. It was so sweet. And I love the ring. Both of our birthdays are in Sept, so I really wanted sapphires on the ring. Its white gold with three diamonds and three sapphires on each side of the diamonds. Its so beautiful and I love him so much.

Everyone has so many cute stories. Congrats to you all!

FINALLY READY TO JOIN THE CLUB!!!!!!

When I started this thread, I thought I'd have a long time to wait for my proposal and that all your stories would help me pass the time while I waited for him to pop the question--boy was I wrong!!!

It happened on Friday morning--we woke up with my alarm set for work, and I kind of rolled over and said "babe--lets stay home from work today--we're both having quiet weeks, lets just stay here and snuggle!"

So he says he'll think about it, but he has to go upstairs and check his calendar and email to see if anything is going on at the office. So I start writing a blackberry email to my boss to say I'm not feeling well and I'm going to stay home...

Then Chris (my fiancee!!! EEEEE) comes in with this big grin on his face holding a breakfast in bed tray with flowers, a cut orange, oatmeal (spark-approved, actually, now that I think about it--very healthy--but that was definitely the last healthy thing we ate this weekend!). He stands by the bed and I'm just thinking (stupid me) that he's being cute and we're ditching work today.

So he puts breakfast down, and asks if I've already sent the email to work. (I hadn't). He says "Good--Because you are already off today. I talked to your boss--I have a surprise for you!"

Then he sits next to me on the end of the bed and grabs my hands and says something I'm sure was really sweet and which I can't remember AT ALL! And then he got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of his pocket.

(Sidenote--He had me totally convinced that he was getting a different ring than this one--when we tried rings on I fell in love with this one, but it was a litle expensive and I also convinced myself it was impractical because it doesn't fit nicely with a wedding band--but I never stopped thinking it was my favorite!!)

I put a cell phone camera picture of it here:

http://tinyurl.com/zdpt7

So of course I said yes, and the other half of the surprise was that we were going to this little Bed and Breakfast and spa in St. Michaels, MD for the weekend. We went to this same place and stayed in the exact same room almost exactly a year ago after a pretty rough point in our relationship, so it's a very special place for us.

We spent the weekend lying around in super-fluffy bathrobes, drinking champagne and browsing theknot daydreaming about our wedding. I also got a massage and facial (and squeezed in a 3.5 mile run somewhere in there too while the boy was napping).

All-in-all I am on cloud nine and just can't stop gazing at this ring on my hand and I get up just about every 5 minutes to kiss him on the head and say things like "we're getting married," "you're my FIANCEE," etc.

Anyway--sorry that was so long-I'm just so excited and the story is so new and fun to tell!!!!

Thanks for keeping me company while I waited!

Elena :)

such a great thread!! And so cute!!

So now my story...

It was December 26, 2003...We had been together since September of 2002. Never gone ring shopping, talked about spending the rest of our lives together, but never a really "serious" conversation- so I expected nothing. We were spending the day at his sisters house to celebrate christmas. His mom, step mom, 2 uncles, brother, sister, and brother in law were all there as well. We were all exchanging gifts. I got mine last from him. It was a big box at least up to my knees. So i have no clue what it is- various things are running through my mind. As I open it all those peanuts start comming out and there is another box inside of it that is about the size of my head. I open that one and a bunch of newspaper is in it. Finally down at the bottom is a ring- no box, just the ring. My face lights up and I instantly start to cry when I look up at everyone and FI is down on one knee. His sister and his mom already knew but they were crying as well. Anyways he said a ton of sweet stuff (none of which I can remember either haha) and asks. I was in such shock that it literally took like a couple minutes to respond. And to top it all off- his sister had a video camera going without me realizing!

aww everyone's stories are so cute...and I'm so excited to hear what happens with the person who started this post, youll have to keep us updated.

My fiance and I were together for a year and a half and we originally had planned to move in together because we were moving away from home for me to go to law school, but he told me last minute that he would rather wait till we were engaged, which i understood...but then the anticipation kicked in because I was up here all by myself...so I knew it was coming, it took about 2 months, my birthday came and went but then on our 1 and a half year anniversary we went to dinner, dinner was over and we were aboutt o go home so i was like guess its not tonight either, kind of down...and then he pretty much begged me to go on the bridge overlooking the river, and he asked me there...it was beautiful

We are in Europe to visit his family in England but we stopped by Paris for 3 days first.
We were at the Effiel Tower on our first night there and he kept begging me not to make him go (afraid of heights) but I told him we had to. So we were up on the Effiel Tower and it started snowing! That's when he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. I'm not sure exactly what he said because I was toooo excited lol.
Turns out he had the whole thing planned even down to the begging me not to make him go (he knew I would tell him to suck it up lol)

We were supposed to go have dinner at the restaurant where we had our first date...

But there was a major disaster at work and we had to work until 11pm Friday night and then be back at 8am the next day...and that was just the beginning. So that first night, standing in our living room, right after we got home, he was fidgeting with his coat pocket and I asked him what he was holding. He said "Will you do something for me? Marry me and stay with me for the rest of your life?" I hugged him and kissed his neck and said "I love you," then realized I also had to say "Yes." He got down on one knee and put the ring on my finger.

He likes to continue to ask me to marry him, frequently when we're just watching TV on the couch or when he wants to cheer me up. It's really cute - sometimes I say yes, sometimes I point out that I'm already engaged and he acts sad, so I say it's to him and he gets all giddy. He's a lot of fun.

It was Christmas night and we were at a friends house for a birthday party. He had a couple of girlfriends of mine make everybody come into one room to witness it. I had no idea what was going on, I was being rounded into this room being told that everyone was going to do a shot together. I remember thinking, "okay, where are we going to find this many shot glasses?" So I was sitting on the couch with a shot of bacardi limon in my hand and here he comes with a cardboard box that looked like a package that you would find in the mail. I read the address and it was addressed to the jeweler. That's when he got down on one knee and gave me his speech. That's my little red neck engagement story!

We were at home together on a Thursday night.
We had just sat down with a glass of red wine and a tray of cheese, oysters, crackers and hummus.
Mark was standing in front of the t.v. trying to find a music station for us.
He was taking an awfully long time, so I finally said, "Sweetie you can sit on the couch and find a station. Come try my hummus - it's awesome."
He turned around and his face was really red. Then he came over and got on his knee in front of me. I couldn't believe what was happening.
He was choked up and looking really worried. He said what he intended to. It was very sweet. I hugged him. He said you still haven't said yes.
I can't believe he was actually concerned about what my answer would be. I said, of course - Yes! How cute is that. He is a fantastic, perfect, loving, wonderful man. I love him more than I ever thought possible, and the same for him. And the ring fit! I always thought I would be weepy, but I was just so happy.
I was in total and complete shock. A Thursday night, at home. It was perfect, and unexpected.

My fiance apparently couldn't wait until he wanted to LOL. About a month before my birthday, we were down at the park - he'd never been there before, but it was one of my favorite places growing up. We kept hiking around looking for someplace "alone" which was really funny since it was labor day and well everyone goes to the park on labor day, and well, we're both big people and out of shape and hiking around is a bit not-so-easy.

But anyway, we finally find a spot in a little nook by the river and I'm standing with my back to him leaning against him and he says, "I have something for you. Do you want it now or for your birthday?"

Well, I pretty much knew what was up, since his plan to ask my sister for my ring size wasn't so cunning... she had "found out for him" by walking up to me and going, "hey what's your ring size? Kevin wants to know." But shhh dont tell, I've never told him that LOL

So I said I wanted it now, and he spun me around and had the ring in his other hand.

Ironically, as we were calling our friend Danny to tell him we were engaged, Danny called us to say that HE had gotten engaged the very same day!

Everyone's stories are so sweet!!

My fiance LOVES Christmas, and for the past few years every Christmas eve before dinner we have taken one of those self-portraits infront of the tree... ya know where you sit next to him, lean in, and one of you points the camera at yourselves?... ok well it's christmas eve and we are running late for dinner and he's insisting that we take "our picture" NOW... I keep telling him "we'll do it later tonight". He keeps bugging me, so finally I agree... So there we are, standing together, I'm leaning my head on his shoulder and he holds his arm up as if he has a camera, but he had my ring in it's open box. I stood there for a second trying to figure out what was going on before he got down on one knee and I finally realized... I know he said some wonderful things, but I honestly don't remember, and of course I said yes! It was totally unplanned and unexpected. The best thing about it was that it was a special moment with just the 2 of us, but my whole family had known about it because we were bombarded with questions when we got to dinner!

how fun reading the stories!

my fiance got all 'funny' like before he asked me - we were talking about marriage and rings and ring sizes then out of the sudden he totally went silent. i told him it would be cool if he would propose at the concert for the band we met at 7 years previously.. so when the week of the concert finally came around no more nothing about any sort of weddings and even somes 'what would you do if we werent togethers' which totally freaked me out.
so the day of the concert finally was here and he ignored all my happiness that we were finally going to see the show as a couple, was late getting home before the show so we had to rush to get there.. and then right before we walked in to get our seats he pulled me aside and got on one knee and asked me just as everyone was rushing in.

he planned on being aloof for the entire week as to not give in and ask me as soon as he got the ring a few weeks earlier.

I knew it was coming, just didn't know when. When I got home from work I was instructed to dress nice and meet him at my mothers house. When I got there I really knew something was up, my mother is so easy to read. So, about an hour later he comes to the door with flowers and asks me to walk outside where a strech limo was waiting. We then went on a "tour" of places we had gone that were memorable to our relationship, the first place we went to dinner, the first place we went for drinks, then went on a long ride just talking and enjoying the ride. For the last stop we ended up at the beach, which was where we went our very first time out, and we went to the same place we were the first time. We walked up and there was a blanket set up with candles and champagne and more flowers, we sat down and my sister came from out of the dunes and served us dessert and drinks. We sat and talked, enjoyed the dessert. Then asked me to stand up and he got on one knee and said a speech of wonderfully loving and romantic stuff, (which because I was so emotional I could not remember now for a million dollars) I said yes, we hugged and kissed and popped the champagne and enjoyed listening to the waves and seeing the moon dance on the ocean. It really was magical, I will remember it always.

Yay. I love proposals.

My FH and I had been dating for five years and we knew we were going to get married but I didn't know when he was going to ask me. It was our five year anniversary and all week I was wondering about whether or not he would ask that night. I tried to tell myself not to expect anything but I had a feeling.
We went to the Prudential Center in boston and ate at the Cheesecake Factory...my favorite place. He was acting very weird and didn't eat hardly anything. For a while I thought, yes, he will def. ask me but then as the night went on I figured nope, not tonight.

We were walking through the Prue when he was like randomly, "lets go to the top!". So we went to the top and started to look around the city all lit up. It was so gorgeous and there was only ONE other person there. He said to me, "Sarah, we need to talk" very seriously. My heart was in my throat. He said, " You can't be my girlfriend anymore.I couldn't believe what he was saying. He said as he was getting down on one knee, "I need you to be my wife. Will you marry me?" I hugged him and kissed him and cried and said yes. I was so excited he had to calm me down to put the ring on my finger. Haha..... I love him!

My fiancee took me out to our favorite Italian place the night before we were flying to Wisconsin to visit. He was so nervous the entire time, but I chalked it up to him being nervous that we were going to my parent's for Christmas. We got home and exchanged gifts. I gave him three t-shirts and a pair of track pants. He's still fidgeting. Then he gets down on BOTH KNEES and asks if I'll marry him. I was smiling so hard he had to remind me to give him an answer. It was very very sweet.

One time we went to this resturant that me and my FH went to for my birthday/our first 6 month anniversay, because they fall on the same day. At that time, he did the "waiters make a big deal and sing Happy Birthday" basically imbarrassing me as much as possible (he loves to do that)..... fast forward a few years later, as we haven't been back to this resturant since then, and 15 of our friends are listening to the story about the first time we'd gone to this resturant.... everyone gets a good laugh, and then my Hunny looks at me, and says REALLY loudly "well, if you think people were staring at you on your birthday, I've got something that can top that story" and procedes to get down on one knee.

Of course I said yes, after crying for a minute, I had NO idea it was coming. Total suprise

Just thought I'd add this in...We had talked in general about getting married, but I had NO idea that he'd ask that day. He picked out the ring and planned everything all by himself.

I knew... We bought my ring together in March of last year.

But, I didn't know when, had my suspicions about the trip, but wasn't sure.

We went to Disney World for my birthday (we live an hour from Orlando). We had invited my mom, his mom and brother, and some friends...there were 10 of us all together. Well, the Disney people take a picture of you in front of the castle...in hopes to make money. Anyway, we took a group picture. And then I was like "come on, come on, it's getting late." He said "Since everyone's together, I have a question to ask." He pulled out a gorgeous solitaire ring, got on his knee, and said "Will you marry me and make me the happiest man on earth?" I was literally crying HYSTERICALLY! Of course I said yes! His mom knew about it in advance, only because she wasn't going to come, so he had to tell her. So, they were able to take pictures. I look so funny in them. It was an awesome day, and people recognized me as the "Crying girl" all day!

Jason proposed while we were in Idaho for the weekend with the 4 wheelers in July, 2005. He had gone up and asked permission from my dad on the day before we left. Dad told him to ask my mom, who said that it was up to my daughter. She was thrilled and jumped into his arms when she realized what they were asking.

He asked me Saturday night while we were sitting at camp and it couldn't have gone better :)

I don't have a lot of time for all the details, but the proposal: he lost the ring before he was going to propose (found it in his boot), had the rangers play like they arrested him, and had our song put on and got on one knee!!

This is mine.

Friday, February 17, was our one year anniversary. We went to Benihana for dinner. It was a wonderful treat and after we had finished eating, Chris headed off to the bathroom. When he came back, the waiter brought out a dessert plate with dessert on it and the blue Keepsake ring box. At first, I couldn't figure out what it was but once I realized what it was, he grabbed the box, walked around me and got down on one knee. He said " Leah, I love you. You fill my heart with love and make me happy. I want us to spend the rest of our lives together. Will you marry me?" I, trying not to cry, kissed him...then I realized I should probably SAY yes, so I did. ONce I did, the entire side of the restaurant clapped and cheered.

Ok so I've been lurking around here for awhile because I count myself among the soon-to-be engaged. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost four years (our anniversary is April 11th!) and he surprised me and took me ring shopping in February...!!!!

So I know it's coming, but he's really enjoying stringing me along and I think he really wants the actual proposal to be a surprise and totally shock me!

While I wait (and believe me, I am getting IMPATIENT!), anyone have a fun/sweet/romantic proposal or engagement story to share?
