Okay, this is SO weird. We're BOTH teachers. Our fiances are BOTH teachers. And we're BOTH getting married on the same day. Wow.
I understand about waiting until the summer....way easier. That's why we got engaged in March and decided to get married this summer. It was either this summer or next and neither of us wanted to wait until next.
I'm just starting up my report cards in the midst of all these school wide assessments I have to do. Craziness! But we are both very blessed that things will calm down and we can have a month off before we get hitched. So cool.

Whoo! The same wedding date! How long have you been engaged? We got engaged in March so we're still scrambling lots. Work is crazy now, along with moving into a new residence, and planning the wedding. I've found it SO hard to track food. I hope to be back on it again when things calm down in two weeks. Hope things are going well for you!

Amandalynn3 & Jojobean24, we ALMOST had a July 21 wedding date! That is our anniversary, & we really wanted to get married on that day but we decided to go with a Saturday wedding instead, so now it is on July 22.
Where in Michigan are you Amandalynn3? We're in MI too :)

I'm getting married July 29th on the beach. I don't even have a dress yet! Ahhhh! I haven't finished paying for it. And we haven't booked a hotel room yet! (destination wedding) I think I'm going to elope.
Pixieflower: I feel your pain. It's so tempting to do one of those fad diets to lose the weight really quick. Who cares after the wedding, right? I can't even stomach the idea of trying on wedding dresses because of the way I look.
|
|
|
|
| PixieFlower - You can do it!! You can also find ways to still have treats while losing weight. I am a burger junkie...a hamburger at McDonald's fulfills my cravings and it doesn't totally blow my diet. I just have to have the control to stay away from the fries and things like Big Macs!

DESPERATEBRIDE- Hey! I'm getting married outside on the 15th too! I am looking to lose about 15 lbs and it is soo hard to stay motivated. I sometimes just want to give up and say forget it. I like eating junk food! hmmm....maybe I should just say "give it up for 2 months and then you can have all you want..." That might work. God I hope so. First night on this site as well so Im hoping it'll help me too.

I got a black frame with the white mat and I am putting it on the table with a stand with the guest place cards so that it is right there for everyone to see and sign. I thought it would look really nice with the black and white and red rose petals under the place cards.

Hey everyone- Again long time since I put a response out. I bought Billy Blanks Elete BootCamp with Billy Bands (resistance bands). It mixes cardio training and strength training combined. It is a brutal workout but fun at the same time once you get a hang of it.
On another topic, I'm looking for ideas for a guestbook at the wedding other than the traditional guest book...what is everyone here doing?

| I am getting married on July 8th and everything fits perfect, but I am really stressing over my arms too. I have been trying to use the resistance bands and just got the total gym used from my dad. I havent started to work on that yet, but the resistance bands seem to be working especially in the bye bye arms part. I try to do like 20 reps on each arm and then go back and do another 8. My arms are sore, but I guess that means its working. Good luck with it.

Hi all,
I havent written in a few days, and I think it could contribute to my lapsing over the weekend - somehow we all seem more accountable when we post and have to admit when we're being "bad" on our diets. The weekend is hard for me because I'm not sitting in front of the computer all day to track my food easily, and something always comes out - dinner out, plans with friends, movie junk, brunch, etc. So many calorie traps and the last thing you want to do on the weekend is deprive yourself of anything! So I started today to take two of the tips I found on the site - weigh ins on Monday (GAINED a pound from last week) to keep you from binging on the weekend, and carrying around motivation (for me its a pic of my wedding dress). Hopefully that will get me through this week.
My wedding is July 9 and I am nowhere near done the planning - still have the rings, the marriage license, the food and flower details to finalize, etc. If anyone has any ideas as to how to do this with sanity intact, this would be much appreciated.
P.S. I like these mother-in-law stories - mine also thinks she shouldnt have to pay a dime (but still have her way on EVERYTHING) - if that doesnt drive you to the kitchen, I don't know what will

| I am getting married on July 1! I am so excited...other than my arms! I don't want to have flabby arms in all of the photos!! I need to lose weight all over but I am stressing over my arms! I have to really work on toning them!
|
|
|
|
Hello! I am also a July 06 Bride. I am attempting to tone my arms and the rest of my body before my wedding. This site has been really helpful so far and has definitely made me rethink what I eat and increase the amount of healthy food in my diet. Ideally I'd like to lose about 7 pounds or replace it will muscle.
I was just at a wedding last night and it was so much fun! It made me even more excited for mine!
Desperate Bride: I am also getting married outside on July 15, 2006!

Hey Kath~ My goal is to loose 17 pounds with working out and eating right. My goal is to look awsome in my wedding dress..its a little tight in the middle but i'll work on that..lol We have four attendants each too!! The whole wedding thing is a lot of $$ to begin with, but you only do it once. We really wanted to take a cruise for our honeymoon, but the cost was to much. So we are going to Ft.Myers Beach FL for 7 days. What color are you having for your wedding? Are you doing a theme? What kind of bridesmaid dresses are you doing? I just got mine in three days ago! So awsome..what a good feeling when something goes right..hehe Well we def. need to keep eachother accountable..b/c that might make me more motivated..hehe Well hope you had a great weekend bc we had awsome weather today! Take care.. ~Liz~

Hey Gals!!
My wedding is July 4! The date was picked for his grandmother who got married on the 4th as well. His gpa just recently passed away so it was a way to remember him without turning the wedding from positive to negative. Anyways...about me haha...I have another 36 lbs to lose officially. The doc says I should get to 140, my best friend says 130, and I say 120. I'm at 156 right now, but I stepped on the scale this morning and it said 152!!! (I'm not counting that yet though since Tuesday is my official weigh in date) We've been engaged since Dec 2003 but we've been waiting until I graduate from college which happens May 6!! wooohooo Anyways, hopefully we can keep eachother motivated and good luck to everyone!!! (both with the planning and the weight loss!)

Hey Thanks fresh-air, I actually got one of those gym/weight machines second hand, for my garage, ive had it 3 months and only used it as many times, just cant seem to motivate myself to use it. I love to excersise outdoors, but just cant get into the gym thing.
Good for you that you didnt overstuff yourself this weekend, going over your calorie requirement a little is not the end of the world, so long as you get straight back on track, and dont feel guilty about it, think positive, you can do it. I found I used to worry for days after overeating, but it didnt help. Just have to foget the little mishaps, and keep thinking positive, no ones perfect all the time. I try to stick to being healthy and calorie requirements at least 80% of the time, the other 20% if you slip up just forgive yourself and get back on track as soon as you can. Good luck
|
|
|
|
Hey you all,
Well, I haven't been doing too hot this weekend. I haven't overstuffed myself, but I definitely haven't been recording my food or sticking to calorie requirement. After the last two days, it's time to get back into routine again!
Liz, just out of curiousity, how much do you have left to lose? It would be neat to keep eachother accountable as we count down to the same day!!! WHOOO! (To answer your questions, we have 4 attendants each which = a lot of extra cash...EEK!). Where are you going on your honeymoon? We haven't quite decided on that one yet.
Selbers,
Yeah for you that you've already lost 27 lbs! You'll look amazing on your wedding day no matter what! I've heard that the last few pounds are the hardest to lose so keep at it!! Have you signed up for a gym? I find that helps to get motivated to go---I'm paying for it, so I gotta be there. Hope that helps! Best wishes to you!

Hey I am geting married on 1st June 06, we got engaged after 2 months aswell, have been engaged 4 years now. We live in UK but are getting married in Jamaica on the beach, with our 2 best friends, my fiancees 2 children, and his parents. Not long at all to plan as was supposed to be Jan 07, but 3 weeks ago our friends decided to get married in UK 26th May 06, so we have re scheduled ours so that they dont have to wait till Jan for their honeymoon/our wedding. Got a dress, still need rings, bridesmade dresses, shoes (that are ok to wear in the sand) am starting to panic now, keeping a track of my eating is getting harder the closer we get, I keep thinking its so close now, it wont make that much difference, 1 choccie bar wont hurt, and thinking it will relax me to eat, but it dosent, after I have cheated/eaten 3 bars of choc, or a big pizza I dont actually feel relaxed, just more stressed that I gave into myself, and will put weight on, and get more stressed. Wish I knew why I did it. Only got 8lb to loose to get to my goal weight, it seems so much harder that the other 27lb I have lost up until now, Just cant seem to shift the last few, and worried my dress will not do up. Also, any tip on geting motivated to do the dress workouts, as I really need to tone my arms, and those flabby bits that join thetop of your arms to your chest area? Good luck to you all.

Hey Kath, I have been engaged for 2 years. But the whole engagment was really fast, we were dating for three months and then he asked me marry him. So you must be rushing to get stuff done..are you having bridesmaids and groomsmen?? How many people in your party? We just got the girls dresses in the other day..they are SO cute! When i got engaged we were thinking of getting married really quick too b/c my finace is in the military and he was being deployed... but i didnt want to rush it just b/c of that reason. I wanted the "traditional" wedding. Well girl.. keep in touch and best wishes to you too. ~Liz~

Lizbryant,
Ha ha...no, I am not done my wedding planning for July 29th yet. In fact, we officially got engaged 1 week ago tonight, and have been "unofficially" engaged for 3 weeks. So I've got the place, photographer, caterer, dress, and now I'm moving on to florist and invitations this weekend. Phew! How long have you been engaged?
This is a great site for losing weight. I have never been so motivated and I am losing it! Best wishes!

I haven't really had too many inlaw problems either...but I'm sure that's because my fiance's sister got engaged 1 week after us and they are all to consumed with her wedding to say anything about mine! I don't think I would have had problems anyway...his family is great.

| All my inlaws live somewhere else, ; ) but last time my soon to be mother in law came to visit, she was trying to give me what she calls her fat clothes!!! slap in the face right. She has seven kids, and her thighs are like sharon stones. makes me sick!!!

Well I could start a whole board on the in-law topic alone. I vowed to myself I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of making me not fit into my dress so here I am.
Well everyone says its normal, all the personalities coming out of the woodwork. I think its just a scam so people actually go through with this whole wedding thing, rather than panic that it will be like this forever (though my fiancee assures me it won't always be like this).
Looking great is the best revenge (and definitely will lift my mood!)

July 9th wedding here - so glad I found this message board. I'm also looking to lose around 5-10 pounds (the pounds that I put on once the planning began).
Do any of you feel like working out is helping with the stress? I alternate between days I think its helping, and days I think its just giving me one more thing to think about and do. I'm not the biggest fan of working out so that might contribute.
Now that we're down to the last few months (I got engaged last 4th of July), it seems like everything is coming to a head, in terms of in-law fights, nit-picking over who gets say over the kind of food, the flowers, etc. Does anyone else find themselves in that rut, and feel themselves wanting to go for the chocolate at the mention of a mother-in-law?

Hey CBSquirrel,
Welcome to the group! I have about 8 lbs. left to lose now to get to an ideal weight. The last 10lbs are always the hardest to lose they say!
Wow...so your hubby will be deployed. That is a lot of stress. Make sure though that you don't get so stressed that you aren't able to cherish your time now before the wedding.
Ladies, I've only done two workouts this week - I'm SO exhuasted and getting sick now, so I'm taking tomorrow off. Everything is just cumulating and since we just got engaged, 4 months to plan a wedding is not very much time! Hope you ladies all had a great day. The only time I cheated today was to eat a cookie...and it was a great cookie!!
Ta ta for now, Kath

Hi guys! July 4, 2006 here! I'm excited to be getting married! I don't have a lot of weight to lose, but I would like to lose about 5 lbs--or at the very least, stay where I am.
We recently found out that my fiance will be deployed to Iraq this fall and his training will start in MS this summer. With all the stress, I have been eating horribly and not exercising lately.
My main goal by joining is to start and keep a healthy lifestyle. So many people "let themselves go" when they get married and I don't want to do that out of respect for my husband and myself. I know I'm not fat, but if I don't care for myself, one day I will be!
I hope I can find a few "kindred spirits" on the board.

Hey ladies,
I agree...YOU WILL BE BEAUTIFUL...no matter what the weight is. I can honestly say that I've seen both stunningly beautiful thin brides and stunningly beautiful overweight brides. The wedding dress looks perfect on them and their beauty totally radiates in their face and personality.
KG111 - I know you face pressure with what the dress fitter said. So all you have to do at the bare minimum, is mantain your weight, right? So what steps can we help keep you accountable with? Exercising? Tracking calories? We're here to help so tell us what you need accountability with.
Personally, I'm fine with exercise but need to track my cals. Yesterday was 1800 which was over, but I had a big workout. Today I have to be on at 1550 as there's no workout today. I'll report back to you ladies!

| I was kind of thinking the same thing earlier. I don't want to do one of those major diets, like the cabbage soup diet, and be irritable and a pain up until the wedding! What if he changes his mind?? (: I guess the best thing to do is relax and not be pressured to lose every pound you want to. BUT...the pressure of the last dress fitting is a HUGE weight on my mind!!!

| Hey! I am also getting married on July 21. I can't believe how close fast it is coming. For those of you trying to lose those last few pounds like myself just for wedding, relax! YOU are going to be beautiful brides no matter if you lose that weight or not. Don't stress out about losing the weight. I learned that when you put pressure on yourself, you will more likely give in to temptations.

I am getting married July 21 and I am also a teacher (8th grade). Don't give up, we have plenty of time to shape up and be ready to go. Even if you don't get rid of all the lbs, you have time to get your skin looking great and to feel healthier. Concentrate on making small changes each day and they will add up!
P.S. my fiance is from LA, but we are in Michigan now...

Hey there,
I'm a teacher too! Grade two. So sorry to hear that you didn't find anything close to home. Do you have a gym nearby that you can join? What is your exercise routine? Are you tracking your calories? I didn't track mine yesterday (we had a birthday dinner) and my cals were at 2700!! AHHHH!!! And I went up a pound and a half on the scale. THings will have to change! It's so hard here because it's the birthday season and I have a birthday dinner every week...I really have to learn to exert self-control and learn not to give into the pressure of having birthday cake, etc. Let me know how you're doing!
Kath
PS - Try to see exercise time as YOUR time to get away from the stress of planning, etc. I find it gives time for my mind to wander and think. Exercise is a mandatory step in the process of planning my wedding!
|

| I'm getting married July 8 and the woman who ordered my dress said I cannot gain ANY weight before the wedding in order to fit into it!!! Those words keep ringing through my ears!! I'm trying on wedding dresses in a week so that's my goal for now, then engagement pictures. I try to break my goals up into smaller periods of time. Of course I mess up now and then, but overall, I'm doing okay. Hope you're managing!
