be careful with corsets...I bought one after trying it on just to find out that it rides higher than my dress in the back.

Vickies stores dont carry them many.

fredricks of hollywood carries a really beautiful yet powerfully supportive corset in several styles and colors.

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence. I'll more then likely be needing many more throughout the next few months!

Jo- I think you can probably get them at any department store or Victoria Secrets, LeSenza if you're in Canada.

I may do a corset to ease my back pain from all the standing. Where can I get one that I can try on?

Honey, I feel your pain! When all else fails, go for good old fashion layering of the power undergarments. (corsets, girdle and control top pantyhose) Try on your dress and see which of these garmets (or combination) help get you into your dress until you can get down the pounds. In the mean time, stick to your sparks plan and work don't skip on the exercise.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Believe me... I thank her everyday!

My wedding is pretty much made by me or family. Cake, flowers, music, video, photography....

I think we have to pay for is the hall, church and honeymoon.

ya you are lucky! We are pretty talentless in my family when it comes to the sewing machine otherwise I would have loved to have had my dress made. You sure are luck!

That's what I found out too! The more popular, the smaller it runs. I am glad my mom is making my dress. She knows what I like.

Oh wow... you did go up a lot! I have never heard of it being that bad but I know they do fit small. Have you ever noticed the more expensive the dress or popular the designer (Vera Wang) the smaller the dresses fit? I'm going BM dress shopping tomorrow so I hope they don't ask me to try my dress on

I cannot believe how small wedding dresses run. I am typically a size 12 and needed a size 20 to fit comfy. Whatever! That is just a number to me... as long as I know I look great!

I just went in for my first fitting this week and I overheard the seamstress saying the same thing about being able to go up or down 2 sizes.

From the very little I have heard USUALLY They can go up or down about 2 dress sizes. I guess it depends on the style though.

If thats totally true whom ever decided to do that was a genius knowing how womens weight changes and our stubborness to get our bottoms squeezed into a smaller dress. Now if that same person would have the sizes to run like other sizes so youre not wearing a size bigger than usual, we'll be OK

I paid for my dress but haven't ordered it yet because I don't actually have to order it until September. I'm currently a 16/18 in clothes, but I'd have to get a 24 in a wedding dress and I absolutely REFUSE to get that size since I worked so hard to get down from that size.

If you keep to eating healthy and exercising you will not have a problem fitting into that dress! I have the same problem with my hips - I went in for my first fitting this week and she thought the dress wasnt going to fit because of my hips, but in the end has to take it in on the top!

Thanks ladies, I do feel much better now. I know that I can drop the weight, I'm just hoping the inches come off my hips... that's really the only spot that I have to worry about, small upper body with child-bearing hips LOL

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has run into this problem, awe the things us girls do.... so funny!

HOPICAN, I did something similar. My dress was going to be discontinued, but because it was "the one" I had to get it last summer for my May 6, 2006 wedding. I'm a size 16, but measured as an 18/20 dress. I ordered the 18 because I refused to get a 20 out of foolish pride. Oy! Finally, 43 days before the big day, it's working for me.

HOWEVER, had I not been able to lose some weight (7 pounds on SparkPeople thusfar) around my waist, the seamstress would've been able to make alterations. Apparently, the dress makers give some "play room" in dresses. This doesn't mean it's okay to not try...it just means that more than likely, you'll be okay.

Consider a slimming undergarment. I heard they work wonders. Definitely don't try diet pills...those are the pits!

Best wishes to you as you work towards your goal.

I hear ya! The sizes can be very frustrating. My best advice is to keep up with your Spark diet, but to try and add more water, or physical activity if you can. Anytime I eat something I wish I hadn't, I'll make myself drink an extra 16oz. of water. It makes a big difference.

I'm stressing a little bit. I ordered my dress in November and at that time I was a little lighter then I am now (about 7 lbs) BUT I ordered a size 14 and I wear a size 14 in street clothes which meant I would have to lose about 20lbs (because wedding dresses fit small) to get my fat arse into the dress. Now it should be in in May and I have GAINED weight! I ordered the dress small with the intention of droping weight and haven't had the willpower... this is getting a little stressful!
