Hi VWB! 30 bucks a year is not bad, especially for having it look like new all the time. I looked at the jewelers you suggested and there are some Scott Kay designs I love! When I get back to the states I will have to go try some on.
Even with only the white gold band I have I still stare at my ring constantly! :) It will be even more exciting when I find the perfect setting.

I have white gold. my jeweler said he can replate it once a year for 30 bucks. My jeweler does it by appointment while I wait so that I wont have to be without it. I think white gold gives the platinum appearance without the platinum price. My wedding band is white gold too. My fiance chose palladium, which is a durable metal that looks like white gold. as soon as I dump the photos from my digital camera, I'll post a pic.

| just thought i would add to the discussion because i am trying to figure out what wedding band i should add to my engagement ring. there's a pic. of my engage ring on my spark page...it's round cut, with pave diamonds around it. i love it! i especially like to wear it while i am doing cardio...it reminds me of the upcoming wedding and inspires me to push it as hard as i can. :)

baby_goo - i have an emerald cut e-ring. i just ordered my wedding band. my e-ring has a larger stone with two smaller side stones. my wedding band will have 5 prong set emerald cut diamonds the same size as the side stones from the e-ring.
together they dont take away from the large stone in my e-ring - they just sparkle when all together :)

VWB, thanks for the suggestions! I will have to check them out. I like plain too, it´s tempting to go for something more intricate and detailed because there are so many beautiful settings out there but it´s not really my style!
I´m curious, for those who have platinum or white gold, what is your preference between the two? I´ve read quite a bit about the advantages of both and in the end I´m more tempted to go with platinum, just because I like the idea of it being stronger.
I´ve heard that white gold can be better because replating it with rhodium every so often keeps up the nice appearance and keeps it from losing material...whereas it seems you don´t plate platinum and therefore it can show a lot more wear and lose material. What do you guys think?

| Yes, I have an engagement ring. It is white gold. It has a 1/3 carat round diamond in the middle with 9 little diamonds channel set on each side. It came with a matching wedding band that has the little diamonds in a channel set (don't know how many there are). I haven't gotten my Fiance's ring yet.

Not sure where u are from. There are 3 really great designers that do platinum. One is Jeff Cooper. Another is Tacori and last Diana. I have seen Scott Kay also. They are really nice. I guess it depends on your style and how simple or extravagant u want it. I like plain, but thats me.

Since I ABHOR diamonds, I got a white gold band with a oval sapphire set in the middle flanked with two extremely tiny diamonds.
Our wedding rings are going to reflect our Irish heritage and have the symbol of the claddagh surrounded by trinity knotwork. Since it doesn't match my engagement ring, at that point it will be moved to my right hand.

Hi Ladies!
I just love looking at everyone's rings! It's so exciting. I have a picture of it on my Sparkpage, and I have a picture of my wedding dress on there too!
I love the antique/estate style rings, and DF and I went shopping back in January to give him an idea of what I like and then he popped the question one month ago! :) He did a great job--my ring is 14K white gold, 3/4 carat with 44 pave-set side stones (well, on the sides, front and back) which puts the total carat weight over a carat. I love it!
Is it just me, or does anyone else constantly stare at their ring/left hand? Like when I'm driving, at work, or pretty much all the time! :)

Here is a link to my engagement ring. The ring is actually a family heirloom. It was my fiance's great-aunt's wedding ring. All they did to change it was set the center diamond higher so that it looked more like an engagement ring.

We sent our bands to be engraved today. Ours will just have 4 letters that are like a secret code to us (I know that sounds silly) and then the date - 08/11/06.

I just got my dream ring. Well, its not mine yet. But I know for fact he has it because I was there when he got it..i hate suprises and he loves them..so i won on this one! It is a 3.18 round, center stone, set in a platinum antique reproduction setting. I always wanted sapphires incorporated too and it has them on the setting. It is absolutely georgous! It totals 3.78 cts. My mom says she wants to trade. There is a picture of it on the website from where we got it. My pictures of it on my hand from trying it on are on my cell phone not the computer,...yet...!

| My engagement ring (and wedding set soon) is by a designer named Simon G. I am told there were only 66 rings made like mine in the U.S. and Canada. The center stone is a carat. The ring is platinum. There is rose gold in it. There is a tapered diamond on either side of the center stone and then a few more white diamonds on either side of that and there is one pink diamond on either side also. The wedding bands (there are two) will fit around either side of the engagement ring. I saw the ring in a bridal magazine and told him I wanted that one. Then I saw the price tag and thought there's no way I am getting that ring. Then he proposed and slipped my dream ring on my finger. :)

I received a ring for Christmas 2004!!
I absolutely adore it - its 18k yellow gold w/ a raised .5 carat center princess cut stone, with .5 ct princess cut stones on both sides...then there are 3 more princess stones on both sides. Pretty difficult to describe, but total weight is 2 carats...but it's not big and flashy - its delicate and perfect :)

Mine is very similar to yours, KELLINA. Although, I was told mine is called a Versace prong setting, instead of a Trellis setting, but they look very similar. My solitaire is 1.51 carats and all done in platinum. He totally picked the ring of my dreams! I’ve only had it for 1 ½ weeks!
We’ve only gone to look at bands once. He likes a titanium one for him and I would like a platinum one to match my engagement ring.
And, SARAHKRISTY117, I used to be a nailbiter, too. But, then I started a job where I handled money and I realized how dirty and gross it was that it stopped me right then and there. But, before that I tried those nail polishes that leave a bad after taste when you put them in your mouth and those worked somewhat well, too.

I notice a trend in white gold and platinum.
I didn't realize that. I have always loved silver and white-gold. The regular gold just doesn't look good on me.
My ring is so beautiful. My fiance had it made and it suits me to a T!! All I ever told him is, you know my style, and nothing that is going to get caught on things etc. (i'm not really a dainty person)
It has one diamond, not sure how big. 1 carat maybe less? That's just a guess. It is set in a semi-bezel style, in white gold.
I LOVE IT!!! AND HIM!!!

My engagement ring is yellow gold with channel set diamonds across the band. Above those is a Peridot. I chose the ring because of it's unique style as the peridot is faceted and you can see under it as it is held from the top. It was from QVC and wasn't expensive but I love it.
My wedding ring is yellow gold also but has 5 square peridots channel set across the band. I bought this from a second hand market so this wasn't expensive either but exactly what I wanted.

Mine is white gold with a 1/2 ct. round cut in the middle. The band has some black "antiquing" in it and then there is a tiny diamond on each side of the center stone. My wedding band matches, it is just like my engagment ring except instead of the 1/2 ct. it has a tiny diamond in the middle. It's like nothing I've ever seen before. My fiance picked it out all on his own and did a great job keeping it a secret until he popped the question!

| My ring is yellow gold wit hsome diamonds. It is part of a set that is really hard to describe. All I know is it is pretty and looked perfect on my finger when I tried it on. His ring is a titanium band wit ha middle layer of gold nugget. Very different and a little pricey. He wears it now though, he likes it so much. The wedding isn't for a while yet. He says if I get to wear mine, he gets to wear his.

i have 3 emerald cut diamonds in a platinum band.
big one in the middle and a smaller side stones.
i usually dont wear it because 1) its too big around my finger due to weight loss 2) stones seem to catch on everything.
i downgraded myself to a cheapo (20 dollars during xmas sale) 'engagement' ring that is 1/10 carat in white gold. very simple and practical for wearing to the gym and doing the dishes

The picture doesn't do it justice. Its white gold, but the center stone is set in platinum for safety. My fiance picked it out by himself, knowing that I wanted an antique-looking ring.
For wedding bands, we're getting matching white gold bands with a simple milgrain edge. I didn't want diamonds in my wedding band, I think that would look too ostentatious.

I searched for a LONG time for my ring. I wanted it to be special and unique since I really don't have jewelery other than costume pieces.
My engagement ring is a platinum cathedral setting with three round stones on each side and a three quarter carat marquise stone in the middle. My band which also took awhile to find is channel set round stones in white gold, but is the same design as my engagement ring.
My honey has a whitegold band with the greek key sign in shiney raised white gold and is the matte finish between the designs. Sorry its hard to explain.
I love my rings, they are not too big or too small, just unique enough for me

I got an engagement ring. I love it. It's not terribly big, but it has a center stone set in platinum and 4 channel set diamonds on either side, for a total of 9 in the engagment ring. The ring is white gold.
This was part of a set (my fiacne and I have a thing about stuff matching).
The wedding band is also white gold and has 9 channel set diamonds in the band.
His wedding band is one that "matches" my set. It's also white gold and has 3 channel set diamonds at an angle in the band.
