Thanks TO ALL!!! It is an up hill climb. But, I do agree the credit goes to sparkpeople. Keeping track of what I have been eating was a big one for me. When I first started I only planned on starting to exercise first. Than once that was under my belt I was going to sart a diet. However, when I started tracking what I was eating I learned so disturbing news. I was eating some days all my calories in one meal!!!! From that point on I have continued tracking and have learned what to eat so I stay in the brackets. I'm onlt weighing myself once a month otherwise I get very discouraged when the scales have not tipped in my favor. Soo April 3rd is the big weigh in. I must admit I'm not feeling a whole lot thinner. But that could be beacuse I can't remember what is like to be thinner. It'll come......So our you all from Wisconsin? I live in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Thank you again for your replys. It keeps me motivated. I hope I can help all of you as you have helped me.

My fiance says he loves me as I am - even tells me not to lose my butt! It's one of the things that attracted him to me. ;)

But I'm not happy with the extra weight I have, so I'm doing this so that I'll look good for ME more than for him.

He's actually really impressed with how well I'm sticking to my diet and exercise - I give all the credit to this website, really. I do have the willpower that keeps me from going overboard with snacking, but if I didn't have this site to help keep track of what I eat, I'd probably have a much harder time losing the weight.

Just keep your goals in sight, try not to get dissapointed if you don't see results right away. You've got plenty of time - start the good habits now and the rest will come if you try.

I think it's a good idea to wait. I only had six months to plan my wedding, so I didn't have that luxury. A lot of girls around here say they bought their dress a size smaller than they would wear now as motivation to lose weight. They are so brave. I would rather just wait and get the smaller dress after the fact! As for loving yourself, you should do that at any weight, but just starting a healthier lifestyle like sparkpeople encourages will give you a big boost of confidence. You'll be so proud of yourself. I am!

You hit the nail on the head. See, right now I'm scared to even try on a dress. I want to lose so much that if I find a dress I want to get it in the size closest to what I think I'll be. But, than you never know how it will look once you've lost the weight. I'm getting married on Feb. 24th of 2007 so zi think and hope I can put it off maybe until Aug/sept. But I'll keep an eye out when we go for bridesmaid dresses. Its all so exciting!!!
It soes sound that I'm a litle doen on myself, however, I thought at this weight (my heaviest) that i would never find such a wonderful man. I did and he loves all 300 ponds of me. But here is one problem.....I don't love me. so I know this weight loss is for me and only me. I wnat to be healthier and feel better about myself. This wedding was just to big kick in the butt to get going. I want to get my pictures back and say how wonderfull I looked not how much weight I have packed on. Thank you for your reply and your right this is the best support group I have ever had!!!!!!!!

Motivation: I have a picture of me trying on my dress that I keep where I can see it (at work, FI doesn't get to see it!) - I just keep my eyes on that, and think about how good I'm going to look.

When I tried it on, it was a little tight. They can let it out a little if need be, but my goal is to have the seamstress ask why I didn't order the next size down instead!

My "goal" is to lose 25 lbs (from Feb 26 to my fitting, hopefully in July), but I'll be happy with 15!

I think, especially since you've realized what your calorie intake was, you'll do great. It took me a long time to realize that just exercise wouldn't do it, I also have to pay really close attention to what I'm eating - I can get 2000 calories in one meal if I'm not careful!

This site is the best support group I've ever seen. If you want cheerleaders, you've come to the right place. We'll cheer you on, give you advice, consolation when you need it.

Congratulations! just remember one important thing about your wedding. it's not about how much weight you can lose by the wedding, it's how happy you will be when you say I Do!

A year is a long time, but it doesnt make it any easier. Join a gym, but do something fun. If they have classes like dancing or something, do that. You will NEVER want to go if it's not fun. I joined a strip tease class and it's GREAT!

I live in Oshkosh. Thank you for all the support. It really does help. I must admit I my doubts about this website. I thought that there was no way that this was going to help. And for the first time in a long time something has helped and something about talking with all of you gals out in internet land as really helped keep me motivated and keeps me going. I love the way we track our food. I never intended on dieted right away I was just going to exercise and see what started happening. However, with keeping track I saw that I was consuming more than double my intake and now I'm making better choices and I've been staying within a few hundred of my index. I just love using this!!! It has helped do much and so have all of you out there!!!!! thanks. Ironicly I'm off to workout at Curves, that wedding of mine will be here in no time. Take Care and thanks for the reply ~

Thundr - what part of Wisconsin? I'm originally from there, near La Crosse.

And Hillary is right - you have over a year, you joined an amazing support group, and a wedding is plenty of motivation to look beautiful.

By the way, welcome!

I hope so. I know its a long time but I figure it will give me time to adjust to the whole eating differently. Its a big up hill battle, however, hearing all these great stories of weight loss. Well keep in touch. Dawn
