| We're using Norah Jones's version of "Love Me Tender" for our first dance. My father/daughter dance will be something Stevie Wonder. My fi's Mother/Son is TBD.

| My fiance and I are also having our bride/father, groom/mother dance at the same time. I actually never thought to have them separate. And, we're not having a wedding party dance, too much slow stuff in the beginning...we're getting married in Cuba, a month and a half later we're having our reception at my parents' house in a big wedding tent in the yard and we're foregoing most of the "traditions" that go along with receptions. No bouquet toss, no garter ceremony, no cake cutting, it'll be more of a party than a reception. But, we are having a first dance and a "parent's" dance. For our first dance we're using I Do by Paul Brandt and for the parent's dance we're using You've Got a Friend by James Taylor. I'm really excited about both choices, if you listen to them you see that they're perfect!

me an my fiancee cant decide on a song for the first dance so we are having 2!! we are both choosing a song for the other to be played on the day(neither of us are to know what song the other has chose)im stuck between 'truly madly deeply' by savage garden and 'head over heals' by alanis morrisette.Of course give me a few months and i will have found more songs to add to that list!!
im not having a father daughter dance either per se instead im singing 'wind beneath my wings' to let both my mum and dad know how i feel about them.

| My groom and I are not so much into country music, and because of that, there will be some country at our reception, but it will mostly be pop and r&b. Our wedding dance will be Christina Aguliera's "I Turn To You," and we are going to try to get someone from the chuch to sing it live for us. It will be the only song done live, that way it will stand out beautifully, and she has an angel's voice. It will make our dance well-remembered for all of us for years to come.

Hello! For our 1st dance, we're using "Steady As We Go" by the Dave Matthews Band. It was suggested by someone on The Knot and it is so pretty. I don't know what to do for the father/daughter dance yet. My dad has done so much for me and I want it to be very special.
To the girl who likes punk music--I too like a lot of punk/alt music, especially Social Distortion. I want to have my DJ play "Don't Take Me For Granted" as one of our songs too- but its definately NOT a first dance song. (and 1 little word will have to be edited out for fear of shocking the older guests...LOL)
Any suggestions for some other good alt/punk songs that won't offend most guests? I'm at a loss here, but I want to play stuff that I like too!

We have chosen "True Companion" by Marc Cohen. He is the same artist that sings "Walking in Memphis." It is a fairly obscure song, but gives me chills everytime I hear it!
We are also planning to take dance lessons and dance to an upbeat song of some sort immediately after our first dance.
I haven't made a decision for the father/daughter song yet, but saw some great choices in an article on www.weddingchannel.com.

our first dance song is going to be "Far Away" by Nickleback. If you listen to the words it really describes our relationship in the beginning.
Father/Daughter dance I was thinking "Do I Make You Proud" by Taylor Hicks...but I saw someone did thier father/daughter & mother/son at the same time...that sounds like a REALLY good idea :)

this is going to be a hard one for us. we dont have the same music tastes at all. i'm really big into country and he cant stand it. he likes alternative/metal and you really cant come up with a nice mushy meaningful song from the genre. so we're gonna have to come to a comprimise somewhere.
as for the father/daughter dance. i havent decided. i like the idea of having my dad choose but that could back fire. i'd end up with like "i'm too sexy". lol!! that's just the personality my dad has.

I let DH suprise me at the wedding with a song to dance to. Since he wasn't doing much I thought that would be perfect. He had actually stressed about it then came up with "She's Got it All" by Kenny Chesney. It was a little faster, but we had taken dance lessons and we were able to do all our moves!
The father-daughter dance was harder. We ended up with "butterfly Kisses" even though I didn't want it. There was miscommunitcation to the DJ and we got stuck with that.

Jets To Brazil :: Sweet Avenue.
I cannot think of a more perfect song for us, especially considering that one of our first conversations was about this band! The lyrics are just so sweet and beautiful. Plus the lyrics "this day could someday be an anniversary" is pretty cute for a first dance, in my opinion.

Actually I decided on our first dance song when it came on the radio. My best friend and I just arrived at Border's Bookstore to look through wedding books and "Broken Road" by Rascall Flatts came on. We both froze, listened to the words and decided it was absolutely perfect for myself and my fiance.
As for the "father-daughter dance..." I'm not sure I'll even do it. I hate my step-father and I just found my father a year and a half ago. Shoot, our little boy (who will be 5yrs old next year) will be walking me down the isle.
