That doesn't seem high, at least to me...I'm from Houston and our sales tax is 8.25%.

Most of my family lives in Buffalo, NY so I was thinking it might be cheeper to purchase my dress in Canada then in the US, but its looking to be about the same.

In Canada we have 2 taxes, GST and PST. GST is goods and service tax 7% and PST is provincial sales tax, which varies by province. In Ontario, the PST is 8%

I know it is super high. Good luck and i hope the dress is wonderful.

Might have to do with postage (shipping costs). Not sure, though.

I contacted a dress shop to get a quote on a dress...they quoted me $1250 plus the PST.

Does anyone know what PST stands for. The place is in Canada so I figured that might have something to do with it...
