I bought 8" hurricane vases at AC Moore (a craft store that I've only seen in the Philly area, but it's just like Michaels) on sale for $2. I'm going to put a 6" pillar candle in each one, along with a handful of artifical rose petals (which I found cheap online). Around the vase, I'm going to put an artifical ivy wreath. The whole thing is going to cost about $7 per table.

The florist I'm going with came up with some beautiful centerpieces, some low and some high.

I love rannunculas, so they are inclduign them in all the table centerpieces.

One little note about the whole live fish thing: I was at a girl guide banquet a few years back and they decided to go with goldfish as centrepeices... but alas, by the time the banquet started, almost half of the fish were floating and all the little Brownies were in tears! I've heard that Betas are a lot more hardy - but sometimes something that's alive is not the best door prize for those of us who tend to not be responsible to remember to feed it later.

We are doing taper candles in our colors & glass bowls with floating silk flowers in our colors. Really simple. my mother paid for them and it cost her about $15!

We are doing bud vases with small flowers on each table. I have been to weddings that I cannot see across the table to talk with the other person. That drives me knutz! I know the dollar stores have these bud vases and the silk flowers are usually 99 cents each.

We are going to give away our centerpieces to the people that help us the most during our life together and the wedding. That way we dont have a ton of glass huricanes leftover.

A new twist on the old "fishbowl"... putting a glass votive with a white candle in it in the center then surrounding it 3/4 of the way up with water and floating flower petals on the water. The fishbowl is going to be sitting on a 12"x12" mirror.
Total cost per table: $1.95

Dont let the "kiddie" look fool you... they have alot of great deals for wedding decor.

Instead of a centerpiece, we are doing a cake on each table. Different flavors of course to get people to mingle and know one another. Cakes will be plain with some artificial flowers on top and two small votives on each side.

I have seen people do goldfish in bowls in the middle-then whomever wanted could take them home.

At a friends wedding, she had mirrored candle plates (Thats the best way I know to describe it) Its just a flat mirror, some have beveled edges. Can be found at walmart and I have seen them at dollar stores and Michaels. Then she had small clear tealight holders on each and irredescent confetti. It was an evening ceremony and the reflections were beautiful. It was simple yet very elegant. I think it would have even been more beautiful with black table cloths or colored table cloths other than white.

Has anyone seen beta fish as center pieces, I thought I was different, then she gave the fish to any guest who wanted them

I bought glass flowers from Hobby Lobby before Christmas (got to love their 1/2 off sales!). We have rectangle tables, so those will be in the center with galvanized planters filled with wheatgrass on either side. Everything is outdoors, so we're trying to keep it garden-y and I didn't feel like spending $$ on fresh flowers.

We're doing the exact same thing as Acsevier, with bowls of water, blue pebbles and flowers, but we're adding a floating candle in the middle. (Like 3/$1 at the dollar store!)

I'm not sure what we're doing since we have rectangle tables. We'll figure it out.

We are doing candle centerpieces with hurricanes and votives. We are saving coupons from Michaels and Joann's every week and using them to purchase them.

I got them from this website:
http://www.papermart.com/Templates/04-0-10.htm

They are WAYYYY cheaper than getting them off a wedding website!!!

I don't know how many people feel about brown, but I'm an earth-tone girl, so it was right up my alley. If you look around on the site under "boxes" and then "gift and jewelry boxes" you should be able to find a variety of colors. We're putting a votive candle in ours surrounded by shredded paper that's our wedding colors (pink and green) and then putting a little verse inside as well. Wrapping a single ribbon around it and then a seal on top. You can put just about anything in the boxes: candy, chocolates, candles, or something else that's special to you. It doubles as favors and a centerpiece, so it's a money saver, too!

Oh, I love the idea of stacked favors! We are having round tables, so it could be perfect! This is a silly question, but where did you get the boxes for your favors? Or are you ordering favors that come in little boxes?

Our wedding is by the ocean, so we have glass bowls (otherwise known as fish bowls at Michaels). Then we have colbalt blue decorative marbles on the bottom of the bowl. Then we found fake silk flowers that are the same colors that our bridesmaid will carry that we are putting into the bowl. We are going to add water. Our cost is as follows: $2 each bowl (at Michaels), $1 for each bag of marbles (at Walmart), and $1 silk flowers (at Walmart).

Much cheaper than flowers as a centerpiece

This is what I'm doing:

Except for glass cake plates...I think it will look great in the middle of round tables. We got all the cake plates off of Ebay. You could do potted plants, but I guess that might be more of a spring thing. Or there's the floating flowers in a glass bowl-or a simple arrangement of pillar/votive candles if the recption site allows =)

Hello everyone!
My fiance and I are trying to save some cash. Our reception site is very ornately decoarted, so we don't need to do much. Any ideas for table centerpieces? Flowers seem so expensive... We are getting married in Sept and having an afternoon reception.
