My two bridesmaids are a size 18 and a size 28. Alfred Angelo makes these awesome seperates for bridesmaids - so each girl chose their own style of top, and then we can match their skirts. I don't know what we would've done if we couldn't order these special-made. Saved a lot of headaches and poor-self-esteem excursions for my maid of honour.

If you go to davidsbridal.com, you can enter in your zip code and it will give a list of 2 or 3 stores close to you

The big chains ususally carry numerous styles in all sizes. David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo go up to a size 28 I believe.

I've never heared of David's bridal, but will need to find a dress in the near future in a bigger size...well hopefully not that big, but just in case.

I am a bridesaid for my friend and want to loose alot of weight. But, want to know where to even look for some realistic sizes.

Carrie - I am in my SIL's wedding and we just tried on our bridesmaid dresses this past weekend. the dresses we tried on ranged from 12-14, which is like 16-20 in regular sized clothing. I think you would be fine having them try the dress on. However, I did not have my girls try on the dress. I just had them get fitted. Your call though.

ACSEVIER, great tip! My dress is a size 18 Alfred Angelo. Got it for $612 (that's with tax) and it's head2toe lace. Love it.

Most of the small boutiques do have those sizes in them, they usually don't carry the 20 up sizes in their stores.

Another option for a chain store is Alfred Angelo. They have a lot of cute dresses there too. You can go to their website to see if there is one close to you, alfredangelo.com

David's Bridal...like everyone else is saying...is a great option for helping you get a good idea of what you want. I have a friend whose bridesmaids come in all shapes and sizes. Her bridesmaids as the skin and bone types, so they got one style of dress in a deep eggplant color. Her maid of honor is overweight, so they agreed that she could have a different styled dress in a forest green color. It worked nicely.

One thing about getting different dresses is that bridal stores sometimes charge you extra for that. It depends on how far you're willing to go. I have three flower girls. Being that they're all sisters, I want them to feel individual/unique, so I got them each a different little red and white dress...but it cost me more than my attendants' dresses.

My bridesmaids are all sizes, too, from a six to a sixteen, some completely flat chested and some really busty. I didn't have ANY of them try on the dress I picked. I tried it on in the store and picked a style that's flattering to all figures (strapless A-line). Unless you really, really have to have each of them try the dress, just pick what you like. It will work out. :) My bridesmaids are all over the country, though, so that wasn't really an option for me anyway. :)

My bridesmaids are all in sizes 14 and 16. We went through Davids for my dress, their dresses, my daughter's dress, and my mom's dress.

I'm having all the dresses made by a seamstress for several reasons: The girls are different shapes, they are very different sizes and I like a certain style of dress.

This way, no one feels like an idiot from trying on tiny dresses and we get the type of dress I like.

I had a discussion with one of my bridesmaids last night, and she brought up an interesting point. I found a few dresses I liked at David's Bridal, but I didn't want to have to limit myself to that store alone. However, 3 out of 4 of my bridesmaids are not petite... they are sizes 14, 16, and 18. So if I try to go to a wedding boutique store, they often only have sizes 6 or 8 to try on. I want a realistic example of what the dress will look like on them, especially since they are all pretty busty (and I don't want to humiliate them in the store, trying to squeeze into a size 8) :( So is it going to be possible to find other wedding stores that have realistic sizes to try on? Or am I going to just have to settle for a David's Bridal dress? Which is fine... I actually really like several of their styles :)
