Congrats to you! I remember one of your earlier postings when you mentioned planning but hadn't had the formal proposal yet. That's so sweet and you guys are going to be so happy. This is one of the most exciting times of your life--it is for me. I live in the Wash, DC area, too (Arlington, VA). Our wedding is in 69 days--my fiance has made some really perverse comments about that this afternoon--anyway... Our wedding/reception are going to be in Manassas, VA. We thought about it, but decided we didn't want to wait that long :) My new current favorite date is the weekend after Easter, which is 04/14/2007 :)
Thanks for all the congrats!! My ring is currently being resized (only 1 size too big) so I had to find another old ring to put on that finger til it gets back! :)

Most of my family/friends are in Michigan, so I got barraged with calls and emails on Wed :) It was fun! Tonight we are going out with my friends out here (I'm in DC)... who we haven't told yet because we wanted to do it in person! So it will be a fun night tonight :)

coming to visit me today, and my friends
are taking us out to eat at a really nice
restaurant. I'm just so happy!!!

| We scratched the 7-7-7 idea... too far away! :) We didn't want to have a long engagement... so now we're thinking of either a Jan wedding (but have to be careful because most of our guests will be from out of town, so the weather can't be too scary) or an April (weekend after Easter) wedding. I like the idea of having the church already decorated for Easter, so I'm all for that! :)

im getting hitched 03-17-07. i kinda like the way the date looks.
i started planning in november and will be completing all reservations/deposits over the next few weeks. i am afraid that with st patty's day being on a saturday things will get booked.

Mine is August 13 of 2006. I agree with those before, start looking for a place right away and book your place. Summer weddings require a little more planning. And anything with numbers like that 7-7-07 seem to attract people (for one of two reasons: it would be neat like you said, or it would be an easy anniversary date to remember).

| Mine is 0ct 7 2007, its on a sunday, but monday is a federal holiday (labor day i think...) so that date might work. Its so much cheeper in the fall too. Plus sundays are cheeper as far as venues and things go.

Just a note - a LOT of people are getting married July 7th, 2007, so if you want that, start booking things!

Congrats on your proposal.
My Boyfriend of 2 years proposed to me last night. I just wanted something casual and unexpected. Well that was it!
I dont know when we will have a wedding or anything else. Have not talked about it. But we will see!

He proposed! I normally really hate Valentine's Day, but he made it the best holiday ever :) We live in DC, so he took me to our favorite restaurant, then we toured the memorials... and on the bridge that overlooks the tidal basin, the monument, and the Jefferson Memorial, he got down on his knee :)
I'm SO EXCITED!
So here's what we have discussed so far... we need to pick a date during a time Congress is either slow or not in session (due to my fiance's job). So this means either around federal holidays (think memorial day, labor day) or in july/august. I was hoping to not have a spring/summer wedding due to costs being more expensive, but at least it will be warm weather :)
So is anyone else planning their wedding in the summer of either '06 or '07? I'm thinking near 4th of July in '07... how sweet would it be to have a wedding date of 7-7-07??
