That sounds really pretty! I wanted to do pink and brown but my fiance wouldn't agree to it. He wanted to do hunter green and burgundy and that seems too Christmas-ey to me.

Congrats!!! We were planning a "simple" wedding too - but it hasn't really turned out that way. It's not as elaberate as some, but more then we originally planned! Good luck!! And once again, Congrats!!!

We just got engaged three days ago. I'm hoping for a VERY simple October wedding, so far the family isn't freaking out about the short timeframe. But with the "simple" part, they don't have to do anything but show up... we'll see if it works out :)

I'm sure your right - it's just another thing I have to think about! Oh well....I'm getting VERY excited - and I can't wait to start feeling the baby move! How are your plans coming? I picked out and ordered the wedding cake today, and my younger cousin and sister are making the mints - which I think will be perfect!!

I'm sure everything will work out fine. Just try not to stress so much! I know it's easier said than done but you will feel alot better if you just take a few deep breaths. Besides... being pregnant and walking down the aisle will give you double the glow!

Don't feel bad! I'll be 21 weeks when I walk down the aisle!! I don't know what I"m gonna do! I go for my next fitting on Monday - so hopefully she will have some suggestions!

Hello! Sorry to butt in here, but I just found this thread. I'm getting married on October 28th. I just had a baby April of this year so I'm trying to lose the baby fat before I walk down the aisle. I'm a little worried about my dress fitting though, because I might be pregnant again... not for sure yet.

So I have about 80 days till my wedding! I am so nervous cause I justfound out I am pregnant - and the dress was a little tight around the top part of my tummy to begin with! I lost 12 lbs last month - but I am 9weeks pregnant and will be about 20 weeks by the wedding! Any bets on whether or not the dress fits?? I don't know what I'll do!! Everything else is going smoothly - it only makes sense my dress won't fit! Like I told my friend - I am fat and ugly every other day -- why should me wedding day be any different??

25 lbs shouldn't be a "radical" alteration. Go get your dress sugar! It'll be the best shopping ever!

Okay. Y'all probably think I am crazy but I still have not gotten my dress. I still want to lose 25 pounds and my wedding is October 7th. I know I can't wait much longer but want to lose as much as possible so I don't have to have it radically altered. Hope everyone had a good 4th!

Well ladies, we are running out of time here!!! Only 3 months until October!!!!! How is everyones planning going??? What are our wheight loss goals in the next three months? I am still looking to lose about 20 lbs. I have until the 21st, so I have a little over 3 months. I'm also looking for my veil. i tried one on at the bridal salon, but it was over $150 for a fingertip length single tier veil!!! It was really pretty with silver vine design around the outside, but still... so expensive!!! Anyone have any idea where I could find something similar?????

Hey girls!! Just thought I would share what I have been doing for exercise. Denise Austin has 2 shows on in the morning on Lifetime (Im pretty sure that is right). She kicks your butt, but it is free and you get a little bit of variety each day. You can tivo it or tape it each day. :) I am also walking and biking to help in the cardio department. I havent gotten a chance to look up everyone's links to their dresses, but I hope to soon. I'm sure they are all beautiful and you will all look gorgeous. I too bought mine off the rack the first day that I went to look!! I will have to put a picture on here, but I have to find one first!! My MOH took a picture at the store, but she has it. :) So my fiance cant see it. Good luck on your exercises!!

It is coming in in 2 weeks :) I am so excited! As soon as I get some pictures of me in it, I will post them! My goal right now, is to find my collarbone! I know it's hiding somewhere under the layers of fat in my neck, but it better come out soon :) Any tips on helping it along would be appreciated :)

Hi Everybody!

I'm getting married Oct. 14th which we will be together 5 years. In the time we have been with each other I have gained 40 lbs. I really want to lose some of that before the big day. I'm trying to eat healthier and be more active. I started doing yoga Booty Ballet, and I try to walk every night with my dad. So I'm hoping the pounds will start coming off soon.

Not at all! I've lost over 20 inches and about 6.5 lbs. WHen I start feeling burned out (from doing the same type of workout), I go for a power walk/jog, etc...just switch it up. I love the instructor's energy! Worth the money. Beware of the ebay ones....the real TJ set comes on 2 DVDs, but it is 5 workouts. Make sure that you are getting the real thing.

So I looked online for the turbo jam you talk about..and it was like $60!! on Ebay there are some for 20-25 though! Do you mind me asking how long you have been doing it and how much you've lost??

Yes, definitely! Any cardio will really help all those problem spots. I'd recommend (this is dorky, but I like it) any Richard Simmons, TaeBo, Kathy Smith, Pilates are AMAZING, too and not too high impact. Those are all my favorites!
KAIDENSMOM
6/27/06 12:43 P

So that should make a great impact on my stomach size right?? Do you suggest a certain workout??
PIXELGIRL
6/27/06 12:32 P

Well...Kaiden...if you have time at work, I'd just browse Target's exercise videos. I started at about 20-30 minutes each night. Then after about 3 months, I did 40 minutes, and now I do 60 minutes. It's a great workout. Just remember to tell yourself that even if you're doing it for 20 minutes (or whatever you decide to do), it's better than nothing!

I was just looking online for the turbo jam Mariah said she was using...but it was like $60. I don't really want to pay that much right now! Which workout do you think would be best, and I can get it fairly cheap?? Is TaeBo (sp?) expensive? How long do you do it each day?? Thanks...I am so motivated I want to start NOW - like tonight!!! I've gotta loose some of this tummy! I'm stressin' a little....can ya tell?? LOL

Kaidensmom-Yes! There are lots of great exercises you can do in your home! I got the TaeBo series, you can also do Winsor Pilates, or any workout video or DVD. I got all mine at Target, or you can order online. But, I like doing them at home so I know people aren't watching me work out!!! Ha!

Yes! Mariah, we want to see your dress!

Honestly - my exercise has been non-existant :( I had my first dress fitting last night...I didn't get home until 8 - and it was raining! It is hard for me to find time! I get off work at 5 - get home, make supper, spend time with my son, give him a bath, put him to bed, then I am ready to relax and I don't want to leave. If I had a program I could do at home that would be perfect...but right now I don't! Any suggesions?? I think if I did then I would loose the weight alot quicker!!

Good Morning Mariah and Kaidensmom! How is everyone today? I feel great today! My new goal is to do 60 minutes of cardio 4 days a week. I'm beginning to notice the difference in weight loss and I hadn't before!

thank you! It is really weird because I had been looking at that dress online thinking "there is NO way I can afford that!!" Then the first bridal dress store we went to, the first dress she took of the rack - THAT WAS IT!! My size and everything!! I told mom we HAD to buy it, so we called my dad and he told us to go for it!! She had gotten the dress in 2 days earlier, and just put it on the rack! Especially since I am not "average size" - the fact it was my size was amazing!!

I don't know who the designer of the bridesmaid dresses are, but the front is like mine the way it splits - and that is where it is white. Your dresses sound really pretty! I like the way the neckline is on yours...but I think what really gets me is the back & the way the train(sp??)is.

I think alot of people meet online now because who wants to go to a bar to find someone...not me!

I think one of the things I am most excited about is seeing my little boy in a tux! That will definately make me cry cause he is getting so big! Josh isn't his "biological" dad - but he's his dad in all the ways that count - he's the only dad he has ever known..I couldn't ask for anything more!
PIXELGIRL

Girl, that is beautiful!!!! And the bridesmaid dresses sound great! My bridesmaid dresses are Alfred Angelo. They have white tops with the same neckline as my dress and chocolate skirts.

That is so neat about you and your fiancee and how you knew each other so closely. Me and my fiancee have so much in common that it's almost like we have always known each other. We actually met online, though, through a Christian dating site. It always sounded weird to me until I did it and it worked!

What color are your bridesmaid dresses? Mine are Black & White.

I live in a small town, Kewanee, Illinois, about 3 hours SE of Chicago! I've lived here all my life, and my fiance grew up about 15 min away. Him and my cousin are best friends, and our parents are friends...thats how we met. Weird - but it has worked out perfect! Its kinda cool when we go to parties and family things because we've always hung out with the same people, just at different times - so it has never been uncomforable for me to meet his friends because they all new me when I was little. So all of the guys standing up for him I have memories with from when I was 9 or so. Kinda funny:)

Your wedding sounds gorgeous! I'd love a link to your dress if you have it. Here's mine http://www.casablancabridal.com/Products/Detail.asp?ModelNo=1825&Cat=Best+Seller&SubCat=

I live in Nashville, Tennessee. I just moved here about a year ago to be near my fiancee. I've enjoyed it a lot. I grew up in Pennsylvania, then spent my high school and college years in Houston. I'm not quite used to being in the deep south just yet, but it's beginning to grow on me. ;)

Where do you live?
KAIDENSMOM
6/26/06 12:33 P

Thank you for the words of encouragement!! Your wedding is going to be beautiful!! Everything for mine is simple and plain...but that is just who I am!! I'm not the fancy type - so I wasn't going to have my wedding be over the top! My dress is kinda plain, with little beading, made out of chiffon! It has long sleeves and a jacket that has the train on it. It is the only dress that you can take the jacket off and still have long sleeves, which I really like. My mom gave me a hard time for not doing my colors to match the season - but those are the colors I have always wanted - and I love fall, when the leaves are changing colors! I can't believe how many of us are getting married on that day:) Let's keep our fingers crossed for nice weather - we want our ceromony to be outside! Where do you live??
PIXELGIRL
6/26/06 12:27 P

You will so look pretty! I'm doing fake flowers, too!!! Well, the ones I really wanted are not in season of course, so I'm doing them all myself. I figured it would be a fun way to be involved and really contribute something to the wedding.

You will totally reach your goal! I have lost 15 lbs being on the site already. It's something I definitely didn't see happening when I started, and it takes some time, but once I started exercising, it really started working!!! Just give yourself a pat on the back that you are aware of your health and want to be as healthy as you can be. That's a wonderful place to start from! I was definitely at my heaviest, and I just though, "I don't deserve this!"

My colors are white (my dress is white with a very very light olive color sash) cream, chocolate, and champagne. It's going to be very neutral for fall. I'm getting sooooo excited!
KAIDENSMOM

yeah...me too! I have NEVER been thin, but I am bigger now then I ever have been! Actually, I am bigger then I was when I was pregnant...it's disgusting!! I was pretty upset this morning when I found out I have only lost 1 lb this last week...but then again I haven't been tracking my food or eating that great - so it's my own fault!!

What are your colors?? This is my first wedding, so I am hoping I am remembering everything! My aunt and mom are making my flowers (fake ones of course) and I got all of the flowers for $85!! I was so excited I went shopping and bought myself a new outfit..oops:) I need to start walking again, but it seems like every time I plan to go something comes up and I don't have time. Like tonight I go for my first fitting for my dress - so I can't go tonight :( I just REALLY have to buckle down cause it is coming up WAY to quick!! We ordered the bridesmaid dresses, and they are all size 10-12...which I probably will NEVER be - but I know I have to do something!! I don't want them to look better in thier dress then I do in mine!! LOL

That is WONDERFUL!!! Our is going smoothly, too. We got the caterer, my gown, the photographer is GREAT!!! I also will be getting the cake through a friend of ours, so that should be pretty inexpensive, too.

That's neat about that prescription. I may ask my doctor about it. I want to lose about 18-20 lbs more. I weighed about 150 when I met Zak, so that's what I'm aiming for right now, and I would seriously be happy in a loose size 12 pair of jeans. I've finally gotten away from the idea that I have to be stick thin to be pretty!
KAIDENSMOM
6/26/06 11:07 A

yes, my doctor prescribed it to me. It is an appetite suppresent and energy booster. My fiance's cousin has been on it 4 months and lost over 40 lbs..so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I was on 15mg - but she upped it to 30 mg today...I am hoping the weight will melt off so I can look good in my dress! I got my dream dress...now if I can only "deserve" it!! LOL

We have most everything done though!! The band is playing for free, we got a hog given to us, and the caterer is doing everything for cost!! Plus his friend is a photographer, so she is doing all the pictures for $150...then putting them on a CD so we can copy what we want! Everything has been falling into place so far....now I have to concentrate on loosing the weight :)

Mariahhla-I bet you'll look gorgeous for your honeymoon! I think we all struggle with wanting to look good on the beach (or at least in swimsuits). That would be so neat! I told my fiance I didn't want to go anywhere warm for our honeymoon because I was too fat! That is pathetic, I know...but I want to have fun and be comfortable! Instead we go a cabin in Tennesee in the Smokey Mountains! I'm really excited, but it will be hard for me to leave my son for so long! It will be well worth hit though:)

I am getting married in October (26th) of this year and I am soooo thrilled. We are taking a cruise with 20 of our closest friends and family to the Bahamas where we will marry on the beach. There will be a formal dinner and reception back on the ship after the wedding. I don't wanna look like a whale! I am using turbo jam and LOVE IT!!! I've thought about getting yoga Booty Ballet too. I am doing cardio every day. Since April 30, I have lost 22 inches and 6.5 lbs! Congrats to u all!!

Glad to see another october 14th!! I too am trying for 30 pounds, and I just started last week. So we are pretty close together on our goals and status! So far, this site is really helping me stay on track. Its motivating to me to be accountable for my food and exercise. Entering it in makes me actually want to watch what I eat and exercise. I have actually been consistently exercising, which I have NEVER been good at. I hope you find the same results!! Good luck on your goals and wedding planning. Keep in touch! :)

Hi ladies! I am getting married Oct. 14, 2006. I've been on and off diets for a year now, and pretty much still at my start weight! My dress almost fits - the sad thing is that it is a little too big in the bust and too small in the waist! Now that's just not fair!
My plan is to lose 30 pounds by the wedding, which is a safe 2 pounds per week and I just started SP this week. I'm doing OK on the eating, and OK on exercising. So I need to start doing GREAT instead of just okay!
I hope SP helps me be motivated and organized!
Good luck to all of you too on your weight loss and weddings!! :)

Jenserra and Naplesbride, that is AWESOME!!!! You have no idea how much that makes me excited about having diet buddies! Well, I just got a GREAT message in my inbox. I've been doing GREAT with my calories (about 1200 per day), but I have had a hard time getting motivated to exercise. Here's what this lady wrote to me:

I've lost 23 pounds since April. When I was just dieting I was losing 1/2 - 1 pound a week. When I added 20 min. of aerobics, I was losing 2-4 pounds a week. So let's say you lose 2 pounds a week with exercise, you can be at your goal weight in just over 2 months. And in 2 months you can just work to maintain your weigjht so you don't have to work out as hard. I hope this was motivational cause I typed this whole thing w/ my 4 month old in my arms.

Isn't that greatly helpful? I can tell you that I'm really thrilled about going to the gym tonight now. I also heard that jazzercise is good. Anyone know much about it?

Have a great morning!!
Kristen

I am also an October 2006 bride!! My big day is october 14th! Time is definitely going quickly and it will be here before we know it!! Things are going well with planning; I pretty much only have the little things left to do. But I would like to lose a little weight before the big day, and get in better shape. My big thing is cutting out the caffeine!! I'm doing well with the water but I am dragging in the afternoon. just started spark last week and I am excited to be part of the group.

We are getting married in the boston area 10/7 and our colors are harvest gold, burnt orange, and deep ruby red (I use all the adjectives b/c when I tell people its gold, orange and red they look at me like my wedding should be on Oct 31. Which would be cool if it were. But it isn't)

We've got great fall foliage that time of year, and I want my arms and back to look AWESOME for the wedding. Most people are from out of town and last saw me 30 pounds ago, so, it will be fun!

Good luck, Brides!

Hi everyone! I just found out about Spark from someone on The Knot website. I am getting married October 21st. My goal is to lose 20 pounds.

I'm down in Florida, so we don't get all those pretty fall colors like manty of you ladies do. But, our wedding is going to be tropical with green & aqua being the main colors.

I just joined SparkPeople...add me to the October brides! I'm getting married October 21--it's always been my favorite time of year. I'm having a very small, low-key wedding. Our colors are dark brown and pale green, we're decorating with fruits and pumpkins instead of flowers, bridesmaids are wearing whatever they want (within the color scheme). I even got my dress for under $100! We're having a vegetarian Italian feast (my fiance and I are both half-Italian) and towering "cake" of Magnolia cupcakes. I'm trying to make it the least expensive and stressful (but still classy!) wedding ever.

Oh yeah, and I'm trying to lose 30 pounds before the big day.

I think it all depends on where are you purchasing your gown, one thing i can tell you, if it´s possible make them hold it for you as long as you can so it can be nice an press for the big day.
Good luck!

Hi our wedding is October 15, 2006. We have Caterer, florist, DJ, Photographer, Baker, Invitations, Dress, Reception and ceremony site, and Officiant all booked or bought. ABout 1/3 of my bridemaids have gone to try on dresses. I need to get my FH to go and look at Tux's. We have the rehearsal dinner all planned and I have gathered all but two or 3 addresses for the 200 person guest list! I need to pick out linens, and figure out decorating.

Hi Everyone!

I'm Jen, the Community Manager for SparkPeople. Our PR firm is looking for some brides-to-be for an upcoming story they are working on. Ideally, you would be someone who's been using SP for at least a few months and have seen results from using the program. If you fit into this category and would be interested in participating in the story, would you mind emailing me by the end of the week?

My email address is jen@sparkpeople.com.

Thanks!

I'm gettting married 10/2/06 - I never knew October was such a popular month.
I've been with my significant other for about 7 years and he is just perfect. We've decided on a destination wedding in Vegas (well, not Vegas - a little north of it at the Valley of Fire). This will be my first time on a plane, first time that far west - a whole bunch of firsts!!

I'm getting married October 7th. (It was going to be the 14th, but that's Homecoming, so we rescheduled.) I wanted a winter wedding, but I live in the mountains, and no one wants to drive way out in the country in northern WV in the middle of a snow storm.
Plus, this way we'll have all the pretty fall foliage in our pictures!

Hi Carynb :)
Fall in New England must be beautiful! I have never been to the New England states, but would love to visit. My wedding is October 14 and I like your idea of having other "fall" desserts. But the reception hall we are using won't allow us to bring in food, since they are catering it themselves. However, living in the midwest, we have lots of fall vegetables and fruit during that time of year as well. Have you thought about decorations yet?
Best of luck to you!

Hey guys, I'm new here.
I'm getting hitched Oct 21st, in New England, were fall colors abound.
Instead of havign a cake we're having cupcakes and other 'fall' desserts. Including all that great fruit that's harvested here in the fall. Can't beat an apple straight off the tree

Thanks - great idea!

I had thought about using taupe or maybe even champaign with the fall colors, since my dress will be ivory. My girls dresses are "espresso" or a very dark brown, with matching long (elbow length) gloves. Looks very elegant!
I read in a magazine to get a corkboard, put the colors (or patterns) you like on it and you can see how they will look together. But I like the idea of tying the colors together with napkins. I think I will take your advice and go to a party supply store or better yet, a fabric store to see what patterns are available. Thanks again!

I have to say.. browns, golds, and other taupe-based fall colors are abounding. I think our bridesmaids dresses are going to end up moving in that direction as well. "Plum" was for me.. I'm a purple kind of girl. :)

Really, what I found that tied it all together was a napkin. So I strongly advise that.. go to a party supply store or a fabric store.. find what colors you've already decided on and find some patterns that use that. More than likely, it's going to be paired with some colors you wouldn't have thought of.

Centerpieces.. ah, stuff I haven't yet begun to conquer. :)

Hi! I'm getting married Oct. 20th. I can't believe how quickly it's coming up. I joined Spark back in February and lost about 8 pounds. But I recently had my appendix taken out and haven't been able to exercise for about 3 weeks. Today was my first day back on the treadmill. I also have to get back in the habit of tracking my calories. I would love to lose about 10-15 more pounds before the wedding.

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Sparkpeople too. It has really helped me "watch" what I eat. I need to lose 30 lbs and so far have only lost 4 lbs. in about 4 weeks.

We are getting married October 14. We have everything booked and have ordered the MOH & Bridesmaids dresses. However, I am having a hard time picking out the "right" bridal gown.

Our colors are browns, golds & oranges. I like the idea of Plums - thats a pretty color to add. Anyone have any ideas on fall centerpieces? Looking for some ideas.

Best of luck to everyone :)

Hi Sarah:

We are getting married Oct 7 of this year. We are having an outdoor wedding also. I am also going with the fall colors, and have done something a little different with my bouquet.

I went to the dollarstore and bought the artificial flowers that have the handle you hold, and then the flowers are hanging down. I bought the uglist colors I could find, as I ripped them all off the handle. Then last fall, I bought the artificial leaves, all in the pretty colors. I removed them from their plastic vein, and re-attached them to the hang down handle. It looks so beautiful. I will holding a bouquet of fall leaves instead of roses or another flower.....Just something a little different on the traditional bouquet.

Hey, y'all!

I'm new to SparkPeople, only having found this new addiction in the last week or so.

I'm getting married October 14th, which leaves PUH-LENTY of time for me to obsess over my weight. Oddly enough, it's really all I'm obsessing over.

So what are everyone's colors? We're aiming for outdoors, so we're going with vibrant plums, golds, hunter greens, and the like..

We live in Columbus, Ohio and are HUGE Ohio State Football fans. We knew we wanted a fall wedding but didn't want to conflict with the games (LOL) so 10/7 was a bi-week and we figured hey it should still be good weather and the leaves will start changing around then so that works! Then they added a game and it isn't a bi-week any more LOL Oh well, we tried!

So how has everyone been doing with workouts? Last week was bad for me but as of Sunday I have been back on track. My fiance and I planned out our meals for the week on Sunday (which he never agrees to!) and I have worked out 2 days in a row...and plan on it today as well! I have found lately that if I just do whatever sounds good that day as far as workouts I do much better. I have tried to be regimented and said "I'll do this Monday, this Tuesday, etc." and then the day comes and it doens't sound good so I skip it...since last week I have been just doing what I feel like each day (trying to keep into account what I have already worked out for the week) and just go with it. I think it works for me. We'll see though when I weigh myself in 2 weeks (I get too obsessed with the scale so I only weigh-in once evrey 2 weeks on sunday as part of a weight-loss challenge I participate in).

We are trying to decide on a honeymoon spot right now. Being October it is hard to find someplace where you don't have to worry about the hurricanes! Hawaii is too expensive but we want it to be sunny, warm, and have alot to do if we watn but still be able to relax and do nothing at all if that is what we want. I think we are going to end up doing an all-inclusive resort somewhere...just not sure where yet!

Working out and eating was not good for me this week either. I didn't binge or anything but I just kept eating things I shouldn't or had too much of things...aghh! Valentine's Day didn't help either. I only worked out 3 days due to a busy schedule but I still have tonight and the weekend so I have a chance to make it up. I just can't seem to get it to come together...I either eat well but don't get enough exercise or vice versa...never together! Very frustrating. I think this weekend I will sit down and map out what I am going to eat for dinner each day. This seems to be the biggest problem because my fiance and I decide each day what we want for dinner and it is a pain because I am vegetarian and he is not so it is a hassle and sometimes I end up eating too much because I didn't plan ahead (I am a person that has to have it in my mind what I am going to eat and how much or else I go overboard).

Anyway, on the wedding front...I finally ordered Save the Date cards yesterday. About 70% of our guests will be from out of town so we wanted to get these out soon. I can't believe we are only about 6 months from when the invites have to go out!

I'm 10/14/06. We have most of our vendors booked; the only ones we still need are a florist & a cake baker. We've started interviewing both, though, so we'll get that done soon. I have my dress, but we don't have BM dresses yet. I'd like to lose about 30 pounds, but I'd settle for 20. This wasn't a very good workout week for me, but I'm going to get back on track as of tomorrow. Good luck to everyone!

Hello ladies! So we have that is the week after me and one a year away. Great!

I am pretty far into my planning I guess. We have all the big stuff done...church, reception site, dress, DJ, catering, cake, etc. His cousin is a graphic designer and is doing our invitations so I need to get talking with her on that. I need to get the girls together and pick out a bridesmaids dress for them (I know a few I Like though). All the other little stuff I have written down in a planner and each week I look to see what needs to get done....but I am about a month behind because I started a new job and it has taken a ton of my formally free time.

How about you? Where are you in planning? How have the workouts and such been going? I had a rough few weeks but I think I am back on track now!

I'm getting married 10/7/06...anyone else an October bride-to-be? I am looking to drop 15 pounds (give or take) and tone up. Love visiting theknot.com...currently enjoy working out with weights at home and going to Spinning, bootcamp or kickbox classes.

Any other 10/06 brides to be or close to then?
