You should just keep in mind that although this is your day, these people are about to become your family, and unfortunately it's all about compromise.
I've been to weddings where 5 little girls walked down the aisle together, all wearing the same dress and throwing petals, and it can be really adorable, but you have to find what you're comfortable with.

You could always have 2-3 flowergirls. But like everyone else said, as long as it doesn't cause any "family harmony" issues you should include only who you want to. Good luck!

| Thanks for the advice :-) If the one girl I want as jr bridesmaid (she's a niece from a different sibling) won't do it, then I'll ask one of my own nieces... I understand about keeping family harmony but neither of us want a large wedding party (to keep costs down), and I'm not going to have two jr bms, so I'll just work something else out :-)

I agree with Amberbride.
Yes it is your day, but sometimes you have to do things to make the whole family happy. To keep peace in the family. Asking one sister and not the other would make for a sticky situation.
Some stuff you can put your foot down. Some things you have to cave in for the sake of family harmony.

| I agree with everyone else, I've been in several weddings and been the maid of honor in two. I've noticed you really only want the people that are very closest to you with you on that day and helping you plan the fun stuff. We ran into a similar issue with his aunt when she blatantly asked if her daughter would be a flower girl...I just said "we don't plan to have any children in the wedding party." I'd be careful about asking one sister and not the other, regardless of what else you find for her to do she won't be in a bridesmaid's dress and at the jr. bridesmaid age that seems to be the most important part :) Anyway, you don't have to make decisions like that immediately if you don't want to. Depending on when you get married you never know how much things will change in the meantime :) Good luck, and congratulations!!!

| I think that's a good plan all around. My H2B has several male cousins, and he only wanted to include one in the wedding because he's not close with the other 2. I felt awful about this at first, but not including his cousins freed up 2 spots for my brothers, who I had promised would be in the wedding. It's hard when you have a large family. I have 5 sisters and 3 of them are going to be bridesmaids. It wasn't hard picking the 3 because they're the ones I'm closest to. My oldest sister has nothing to do with the family and the other one is coming and is happy with that. It's who you chose and how you chose because it's your day!

| I talked to my FH about it, and he's on the same page as I am, he wants the same girl for flower girl as I do, and we're going to go ahead and ask the one niece to be the JB like we had planned and if she says no then we'll ask one of the other nieces and find somehting for her sister to do :-)

| Whatever you decide to do, I wouldn't ask one sister and not the other without including both of them (if I'm reading your post right.) Unequally including siblings would be MESSY!

Congrats on getting engaged! yay!
Also how old are all the neices? Maybe to incorporate some of them in the wedding you could have them do a joint reading (if they are old enough for that) I whent to a wedding where she had two jr bridesmaids and had them both read a passage while they where lighting their unity candle.

First off - CONGRATS! :) Very exciting!
Um, my rule of thumb is that it is YOUR day and everyone should respect that. I would make sure your hubby to be is on the same page as you and have him explain to his sister that you and he are a united front and want a small bridal party. These are the people who were asked, and if there are any changes, you guys will let them know.
It's an exciting time, so be sure you (he) let them know that you appreciate the excitement and want to be involved. :)

So I got the ring and the proposal on Saturday YAY! It still hasn't totally sunk in for me yet though.
However, I've already decided on my MOH, my second bridesmaid, my flowergirl (all from my family, I don't want a huge wedding party), and I'd like one of his nieces to be a junior bridesmaid, but he has too many nieces lol. We'd kinda decided on one of his nieces in particular, but I saw this morning on his facebook that his other nieces have asked to be flowergirls... how do I deal with this? Do I let him say no since his sister asked him? Or do I have to be the bad guy and say no? If his one niece says no to the jr bm, we were thinking about asking one of his sisters girls, one of the ones who asked to be in the wedding.
I know I shouldn't be stressing. I'm sick with a bad cold that's hit me REALLY hard REALLY fast, and I'm pmsing, so I'm really not at the top of my game and I really shouldn't be thinking at all about it.
I'm going back to bed now :-)
