| so i had posted earlier on this message board about wanting to not spend much money on favors..and doign hershey kisses...but my fiance shut that down real quick haha. He says he wants to do something unique and different (beleive it or not hes really involved in this whole wedding planning process) So we are now giving away small bags of Colombian coffee in original colombian packaging (made out of cloth not plasit) I'm from colombia so we thought that would be perfect. on the tags we are gonna say "a perfect blend"

I love the idea of a charitable donation instead of favors.
I also like the Georgia Peach preserves and the bag of sundries that people may need but not have in their purse.

| We're getting married in Georgia and are sending each guest home with some peach preserves. Also, the valet drivers are going to put a little bag in each car with some bottled water, packets of tylenol, snacks, a card from our photographer saying where they can see our photos, and of course a little thank you note from us!

| Here's an idea....my cousin's wedding was this past weekend and instead of purchasing wedding favors to give away, the bride (my cousin) & groom made a charitable donation to cause near and dear to them. It was printed on the wedding program and everyone seemed to be pleased with their decision. I thought it was awesome....something that was new to me. Again, none of the guests were disappointed that they didn't get a wedding favor to take home.

We are getting married in Vegas on 888. We are giving out decks of cards, dice beaded necklaces, and fortune cookies.
Fortune cookies because it is the start of the Olympics in China so it's for good luck!

| We got matchbooks with our name and date on them. That way its a favor people can always use,not just something they're going to throw away.

| I love weddings where I have gotten jordan almonds,chocolate,tea bags, cd of love songs, the sky is the limit. It is a myth that guest don't care about the favors it is a special trinket and memorial of the wedding. To skip it I think would be a mistake. The catch though is to make it special and think about your guest. Don't just throw bubbles on a table and say I'm done.

I recently married (June 21) and I had a friend offer to make chocolate squares that said thanks and a white heart was added to each one. They were wrapped in purple basketpaper.

| We have already bought flower seeds in wedding colors red,yellow and orange. It didn't cost too much on ebay. We also bought 50 bookmarks and 50 magnets personalized on ebay. Those who like to read can take a bookmark and those who don't read much can take a magnet. We will also have candy dishes with kisses personalized and Bliss choclates because his last name is Bliss.

| Is anyone thinking about donating money as a favor? I thought of donating the money normally spent on favors that people don't really care for to a place like Susan G. Komen or Childrens Hospital. I think a little note to people telling them instead of favors a donation has been made is a better use of the money than something no one will remember and eventually throw away.

| I havent really given much thought to it either...but I like the little hershey bars with our initials...i dont think favors are very important...people dont grab them or end up throwing them away.

| havent really thought of that...i know whenver we walk out that there be these lil bottles of bubbles that are in the shape of boots....idk maybe lil cowboy hats filled with candy or mints??? idk something have to think about

The foot cookie sounds like a cute idea.
My former employer used to give out batches of Christmas Cookies. His wife would make the batter and freeze it until it was time for the cookies to be baked. I guess it would be ok. Ask Martha Stewart, she would know.
You're right no one wants a trinket or a doo dad.

| We haven't decided yet. At first I wanted to do a foot-shaped butter cookie with our initials done in almond flavored frosting, but now I'm not so sure. My biggest issue is who will bake the cookies? Could I do them in advance and freeze them, or would they not taste as good... I just need some advice on this one too! The foot shape is because my last name will be Foote after I'm married. His grandfather is a city councillor in our town and during election time, he gives out the foot-shaped swedish fish. His aunt had foot-shaped chocolates at her wedding, but I don't know. It definitely has to be a food because no one wants "a trinket or doo dad."

| What we are doing instead of just a favor of candy, a little something for them that they will "maybe" take home what we are going to do instead is put on a placecard on the table of each guest at the wedding we are going to put a little note saying something to the effect of in lieu of a favor we are making a donation to the (insert your non-profit organization here) I have been to weddings where they have done that and I think it is a nice touch and besides....of all the favors I have received at weddings I don't know of one that I actually kept and took home, but hey candy always works too ;) hehe

| I had thought about these little mini hershey bars that I saw and you get the wrappers personalized. But I just cant decide and if I'm going to do those I have to order them by the end of the week.

We're going to have tiny flower pots with live herbs in them.
The name card (which we need for our waiters to know which meal the guest has chosen) will be in a florist pick (the thing florists use for the gift card). We're using parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Yeah, cutesy, but we like it (and they're all hardy enough to grow).
Each herb will be used for a different meal option, and we're going to color code the name cards, too (red for beef, teal for salmon, white for special meal, and tan for the children's meal). Very cheap (a few seeds, some small pots, the picks) and easy - and something we can get behind since we both love to cook.

I know one couple that gave away little boxes of Hershey's Kisses.
You don't have to give favors, it is up to you and your groom. And your budget.
If you do choose to give favors. Pick a food item. No one wants a trinket or doo dad.

| We're not spending much on favors. In all the weddings that I've been to, people really are not that interested in the favors. So, I bought some organza baggies (Ebay...great deals!) & I'm going to get some candies for them. Then attach a little note saying "Falling in Love" (we're having a Fall wedding) & then our info. Simple, cheap & tasty!

| I'm giving little books as favors. I looked a long time for favors that I liked. They don't have to cost a lot of money. Other people I know have done favors such as: cookies baked by the bride or her mother wrapped in tissue paper and tied with a ribbon.
