I used Dr. Rey's high waisted Instant Shape. It was $40 at Sears ($30 less than Spanx) and it works pretty well. It smooths everything out pretty well, but it doesn't me take down a size or 2 like Spanx is supposed to (so I've heard).

I seem to be a little late, but I was going to suggest a body shaper. I have a Spanx high waist smoothing thing that seems good. What did you use?

Yes, I did. It wasn't as awful as I thought it would be. I wore a body shaper and a bra that helped shape my body a little better (I was braless in the pictures I posted before). I haven't seen any pictures yet, but I at least FELT a little better than I thought I would.

I am sorry that you have to wear that dress. Honestly I don't think it would flatter anyone. I am not meaning to offend the bride, but it is just an ugly dress. Wish I could be more help. Just sending hugs that you have to wear such a dress.

The sash thing is sewn on in the front and that was what the bride really liked about the dress. I might cut it off at the sides, though be cause the sash is too short to tie properly. I would like to get a jacket, though, but the colors are ridiculously hard to match. I walked around a fabric store for two hours and ask 2 employees to help me find a matching color and nothing. :(

i say ditch the sash too. what about a jacket? i know its very very last minute, but wher eu got your bm dress at see if they have a jacket wher eyou wouldnt feel lil bit more comfortable. my one bm is also self concsious on how she looks and she is going to be wearing a jacket to cover too.

Is there a way to move the sash lower or stretch the sash out a little so it covers more area? Maybe get rid of the sash all together?

That sash is what's really ruining the dress. The dress is not great to begin with, what with the big stripe running down the middle of the front, but that sash just throws it off even more and just makes the dress look uncomfortable and awkward. If you could do something different with that darned sash, I think you'd be ok.

I'm going to be in a wedding (as a bridesmaid) this weekend and I really need some help. This is the dress I have to wear:

What can I do to make it look a little more flattering on me? I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO self-conscious and this dress does NOT help.
