I'm at the wrong computer, so i'll have to go by memory (haven't posted on this topic since Jan 07)

Saw: Big Fish (not too bad), Sleepy Hollow (again not too...), Croupier (a good gamble flick), Under The Tuscan Sun (pretty good), Lord of War (wow. now i get Sierra Leone and Liberia), Steamboy (anime quite nicely styled) and Eragon (if you like Harry potter and dragons, this is for you).

I've also become Mad for Doctor Who and don't miss an episode on the web; see

Facing the Giants...it was ok. Foreseeable ending, slow moving and religiously inclined.

Grudge 2...if you've seen the first one, you'll be disappointed in #2. Not scary unless lots of black hair, white face powder and black eyeliner gets you jumping (rather comical at times) and the plot was so disorganized we had to make up our own conclusions just to keep up...and the ending was a big thumbs down.

The Guardian...very good story line, gets you into the characters and great ending. Only thing is Ashton Kuscher wasn't right for this movie, in my opinion.

Got Doctor Who 2005 season one out; has some nice bits on building a Dalek emperor for example. Saw it originally on som youtube like site.

Also got Albert Brooks in Comedy in the Muslem World; very droll comedy but a few laugh-out-louds. Lots of funny cultural situations.

Also got DeGrassi Jr. High out; a canadian teen high school drama; the acting is ugh but WGBH still sponsored it.

Got Red Dwarf out of the library; a BBCish sci-fi show from the '90s. Has a lot of comedy in it.

Got The Pretender; another '90s show that i must of missed. Child is programmed to "pretend" to be other people to do awful simulations; grows up and runs away from evil people and helps people by pretending to be Fireman, Ranger, gater ranger, Navy guy, Doctor, EMT, etc.

I kinda like it but watching 14 episodes all at once can be trying (each show has some standard stitck to it).

Got Drunken Master out: Jackie Chan's first "big" movie. Funny, stunts are nuts (he rolls through a bed of coal on fire) and the kung fu is funny.

I was so looking forward to this Vampire Vs. Zombie vs. Zombpire movie. The first one rocked (though a lot of gunfire). This one kinda crapped out.

Haven't seen in a while; wanted to with all the hype about
the Broadway musical. IMDB.com says they're remaking the
movie; i think this is a shame since *no one* can replace Divine.

I was originally turned off by the "track suit" ness of this, but after seeing Life Aquatic and Rushmore, i wanted to see it. It's not bad, a definate Wes Anderson flick.

Da Vinci's Code...with all the hype, a let down. Haven't read the book but seen programs on cable about it...the same thing made into a movie so to me it was boring. Basically theories derived from paintings, symbols and words of one man. Wish I knew what he was thinking when he created his masterpieces...the strokes of genius bordering on insanity, vanity, jokings or was he just having a bad hair day.

Saw the movie L.I.E....think I missed something. Instead of feeling for the main character, ended up feeling sorry for Brian Cox's character in the end. sigh...

Joe the King...an excellent movie about a young boy Joe, who does whatever he can to help his family with all odds against him...an alcoholic father, a weak-willed mother and a selfish good for nothing older brother. This movie still speaks to me.

Mission Impossible III...tonight.

This thread isn't a game -- the censors at sparkpeople made me move the thread out of cafe (the dunderheads).

I have to highly recommend Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino; it's an excellent work and well filmed in Venice. Really brings the story to life.

I had a pile of eight DVDs from the library last week: i have to look up what they were...

Rushmore, from the guys who did Life Aquatic; i like their style and the soundtrack by Mark Mothersbaugh (ex-Devo film scorer).

Fingersmith, a kinda ok story about thieves and such in victorian england; has a lesbian plot so you can't miss! 8-)

40-yr old Virgin- Wrote another friend about it: "it's a romp; it's ribald and the language is a bit blue for my tastes, but it has some sweetness as well" -- much crude sex talk. most of the makeout scenes are comedic. Nice ending.

Brick -- a high school "Noir' caper with language straight out of Chandler and the '40s. Detectivey, kinda a "encylopedia brown" who grew up and got involved with a drug gang.

V is for Vendetta -- i recommend this one. The rise of a fascist state in England leaves one man seeking revenge. Based on a graphic novel

I have to watch Hero (Jet Li), I (heart) Hucklebees, Capote, Battlestar G. season II, and In my Country.
