You said you had a fear of taking diet pills and I would listen to that inner voice! Why don't you take a year and do it the healthy way! I won't lie and say it is easy. It isn't. You have to make time for exercise and eat healthy when you really want to eat junque! But you can squeeze in splurges here and there and not feel deprived. You can do this! I also wanted to mention that diet pills do not handle the issues of WHY we gain weight. When we choose to eat healthy and exercise we are dealing with the WHY and not just the symptom of being overweight.

We can do this!!!

Prescribed diet pills are a really easy way to lose weight and they do work. But not in the long term and the side effects can be devastating. When you stop taking them you will end up fatter than before you started and you can't take them long term because they are amphetamines. You can also get heart palpitations, dry mouth, trembling, lack of concentration etc. DO NOT TOUCH. I am talking from personal experience.

Don't bother with diet pills. They might have short term effects but after that wears off you'll just gain back the weight and be back where you started. Here on sparkpeople though, you can learn how to get healthy the right way & how to incorporate it into your everyday life. Pills will wear off after a couple weeks (if they even work at all) . so save your money and remember that all your hard work is going to pay off & that you'll be healthy for life !

I'd steer clear. Read this Q&A and, more importantly, the articles it links to at the bottom: http://www.sparkpeople.com/community/ask_the_experts.asp?q=56

Diet pills usually aren't both safe AND effective, and I don't want to mess with anything that's not both. Even if one is, you'd have to stay hooked on it for the rest of your life, or you'd just slide back to where you are after you stopped using it.

I haven't tried diet pills myself, but at least one person close to me has and has permanent damage to her digestive system as a result. No thanks!

I don't know about NV diet pills. I know on Sparkpeople, they encourage us to try and lose weight naturally and that a lot of those diet pills out there are scams (and most of them are really).

Although I do have to say that I did 'cheat' and used one in the beginning. But that was only after many, many, many trial and error sessions. I took one that made me sick as a dog for days. A friend told me to try Stackers 3 and I was nauseous for the 3 or 4 days I took it. (I immediately discontinued it) and the other ones just didn't work. I thought the one I took worked in the beginning, but to be honest I think I would have lost the weight anyway; considering I've been doing it naturally for 5 months since then and have been getting the same results.

I know Alli is suppose to be FDA approved, but I've never tried it. There is no magic pill for weight though. I say its at your own risk, but remember if you do take one you still have to watch your diet and exercise.
