I have a suggestion if you would like to hear one when it seems as if you can't lose any weight. I had this problem almost two weeks ago. I went in to see my weight doctor at the clinic and he checked my calories intake. He said because I had cut so far back that my body was thinking I wasn't getting enough food so my metabolism shut down. I did increase my calories and don't you know I lost 9 lbs. Now, I did not increase calories badly, eat more veggies mainly and added 3 more oz of protien to my diet. So I was eating 9 total oz of protein insteat of 6 oz for the day. I also stay away from stachy veggies. And I continued to work out five days a week too. Good luck, just wanted to share. bonnie

| I'm excited because it is almost Friday. Today it was nice here in Cleveland but just didn't have the energy to work in the yard after work and it was a perfect evening for it. am just ready for Friday. it is supposed to be 65 on Sat. i tried very hard this week watching and keeping track of every bite but the weight hasn't changed. am trying to keep positive and actually feel better because am eating so much less fat. normally at the end of the day i sit down and eat peanuts with yogurt. mmmmmmm it is so good but when looking at the calories & fat in that it is terrible peanuts have 10 grams of fat in 20 peanuts. i can sit down and eat piles of them. uh oh. even tho fat from peanuts is supposed to be better for you i've been eating waayyyy too many of them. oops. oh well sure did watch this week.

In mid June 2007, I started the south beach diet and began working toward fitness goals. I have lost just over 40 pounds and am at a normal BMI, if not yet where I want to be. I have "completed" in a 5k, a 4mi, and a 5 mi run, a sprint duathlon, and a 45 mile biking event. I have learned to swim and will be competing in triathlons this summer. I had been overweight for a good 15 years. So weight loss and fitness can be accomplished at our age (I'm 54.) My weight loss has stalled at this point, but here is what has changed: I am not managing to eat every 3 hours, as I was when the weight loss was steady. The frequent eating keeps the metabolism high. Also without the frequent healthy meals/snacks, I am more susceptible to making bad choices - in sum, I am getting less fresh veggies and more processed foods. Also, I am usually not getting the healthy breakfast, as I was when my weight loss was steady.

I seem to be in the same place but I think I'm expecting too much. I've just started into my third week and hope to see some changes soon.
