First of all....congratulations on your weight loss.

Second - it takes time for the skin to adjust.

Third - HYDRATION, HYDRATION, HYDRATION

Fourth - nutrients are essential for supple skin. Make sure you are eating plenty of fruits and veggies.

Fifth - MOISTURIZE.....olive oil is a great (cheap) moisturizer used throughout the world. A little bit at night goes a long way.... :o)

Finally - "count it all joy"......"a happy heart worketh good like a medicine".....

When you are busy smiling - people don't notice the wrinkles....AND move, move, move.....

A man on a fast horse will NEVER notice...and if he does.....he will NEVER tell.

Well, thanks everyone.... I can't tell you how good it is to whine and not be told off. Thanks again for listening!!

Well, actually I am almost at my target weight-goal... just 3lbs. away. And yes, although I had wanted to lose weight faster I have taken more time. It gives me a sense of achievement...... though I would ALSO like to look good in visual appearance not just feel healthy. Fortunately , I didn't have to lose as much fat as most ppl on Spark so mebbe my whining is unjustified. But you know, sometimes one likes to share the doubts and misgivings with others. My family is absolutely unforgiving to my excess weight as they are all fit and healthy.

So thanks again.
Keep smiling
J

Yes, it is called good old fashion exercise. We are in this mess because we haven't been doing it all along. Now it is time to pay the piper.

We can whine and get no where or we can commit and create a plan. Your choice. I decided to commit and create a plan and so far that plan has helped me lose 23 pounds. Slow? Yes. Worth it? Yes. Am I whining? Sometimes, but at least now I know that my whinning is because I am doing something constructive rather than destructive. The whinning is because sometimes I get sore when I push myself beyond a limit, knowing that eventually I will achieve that limit and go for another.

So all you lady whinners....face the music. You can sit and continue to add to your problem or you can get up and dance your problem away.

I've not been on this exact site but check on other places in spark. I'm 48 soon to be 49 and I admit I've not kept myself in shape whatsoever. I hate it dread and look back with why the heck did I let myself get in this shape. I've had a total of 3 kids my youngest one is 15 soo I can't blame this on baby fat... I've got the "BIG" paunch from being to heavey while pregnant thing going on and its my upper torso that needs alot of work and I weigh 210:-( is there anything in the world that could help me to sorta get some tightness to something ?

Get over it! We all have complaints that we don't look 25 anymore. I have noticed that my body is finally catching up with my weight loss. At first I had extra loose skin that I thought made me look older but now the skin is going back into place and I'm looking and FEELING younger!!!

Ok, you have had your whine and now it is time to get to work. There are certain things you can't change but there are others that you can change. If you are worried about some of the wrinkles, some of those you can tone up by doing exercises and strength training. That will help with the excess bagging.

If you haven't done it already, talk to your doctor to see what he may advise as to what your options are.

I do agree with ICANIWILL1, you can look like a nice corpse or you can have good health. The choice is entirely up to you.

Good luck!

Well, Its not really a choice is it. High BP, Diabetes, Arthritis, kidney stones, colon cancer, Cardiac problems, arteriosclerosis, etc etc etc and a cherubic face.

Being at a healthy weight, No more aches and pains upon waking in the morning. No more straining to get out of chairs, No more wheezing at even the thought of climbing a flight of stairs, clothes fitting better, Good reading for BP, cholesterol, blood sugar, less strain on the joints, less strain on the heart, Ability to move better which combats depression. Better sleep at night because of breathing better. Peace of mind cause the guilt of carrying excess weight is no longer a bother. etc etc etc

At least one option will provide a cherubic looking corpse. The other will provide a nice healthy person, who will live long enough to know looks is not be all and end all. And good health is a blessing to be cherished.

Hi All you lovely People,

I have this need to whine a little.... I have chosen this forum because you guys are my age (50+) and may understand what I am crying about.

Well, thanks to sparkpeople, I have lost 3.5 Kgs of my target 5kgs. though I have taken more time than I had anticipated because of Holiday Breaks (those lovely days when temptation is just arm's length away!)But this is the positive aspect.

Now the whining... As I lose weight I find I am looking older and more wrinkled. You see, I am below 5feet tall ( I am ashamed to say how short I am!). I have a pleasant face, good olive colored skin,a head full of lustrous hair and nice features. But I have been conscious of my height from my childhood. I have always shopped in the petite section. But in my youth the youthful exuberance covered my short height. But now with weight loss I seem to have shrunk more and look really tiny.(Although this weight I have set myself is in accordance to the BMI needs and almost as much as my weight when I was about 25)

Am I doing the right thing losing weight to stay within my BMI or should I go back to being what I was? Is weight, health more important to looks? I do feel so depressed sometimes looking at the mirror.

If any of you have a kind word for me I will be grateful.

Thanks
J
