It's a PLOT! I had my hyster at age 40 and in the past 14 years the weight has crept on! I think the doctors implanted fat magnets in all our bodies!!

I lost 80 lbs about 12 years ago, then had to have 2 surgeries for post polio syndrome (Dec 95 and Nov 96) then had to have a completele hysterectomy in June 97. I now own the "lost and found" club because I gained that weight back lying around so much and recovering (I lived alone) and because of medication, have now gained even more weight. I am at the highest I have ever been in my life and am disgusted and discouraged.

One problem I am working with my doctor on is hypothyroidism and after surfing the internet, discovered that most women over 50 suffer from it but few doctors check for it. I had all but 2 of the symptoms and we started out with a low dose but I go to see her next month and I'm asking we increase it substantially because I still fight fatigue, some depression, hair loss, dry skin, sleep problems, let's not forget the weight gain and whatever else they had listed. Google and see if you think it might also be your problem.

But I also have problems with weight because of the PPS because it's difficult for me to walk and exercising is even more difficult because there are so many I can't do. If I can even lose 100 lbs, I will be thankful. No, make that WHEN I lose 100 lbs, I will be grateful

Have your doctor do blood tests and check your thyroid and do that once a year to see if there are any changes. Good luck to you

yes hystersisters is a WONDERFUL resource!!! Also Christiane Northrup's book, The Wisdom of Menopause, has been the BEST resource I've found.

I am 51 and had my Hyster when I was 36. I have noticed that I have to work a little harder to lose, but it has been getting harder with age. I think the hyster had a bit to do with it, but age has more for some reason. Just my opinion. Keep working, it does come off. I lost 100 lbs when I was in my late 40's so it can be done

i had my hysterecomy, complete, in august of 07. after recovering from the surgury, and then nursing my husband in his surgury, the holidays came and i am only now back to the plan of getting the real me back.i have had some depression, but am coming out of that. i have basically eliminated fast food. which is relitiivly easy as im not into meat much. never been a fried food freak. just keeping out of the junk. i find i do better in the summer when the sun is shining and the fruits and veges are plentyful.my hystorectomy was a blessing. i only wish i had it 30 years ago

Hi over 50's !!

I had a complete hysterectomy in May 2007. I am amazed that I can cut my caloric intake, work out like a maniac, and STILL show a weight GAIN on the scale. Wow, it's so frustrating!!!

Or............ do all of the right things and STILL my jeans barely fit!! I think I'm going to have to maintain a "10# less than before" average in order to have my jeans fit comfortably.

ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE THIS INSANITY???
