I started with the Fastbreak program, set up on spark. Take the time to log in everything you eat. That taught me so much, and I find that when I am really focused, it is the best tool. You can key cetain nutrients, so you can track what you want to track. And it gets easier and faster, after you have done it for a while. You can add favorites, and food groupings, that makes it really fast.
Then, start one good habit at a time. Perhaps it's just looking for a way to add a little fitness into your day. Sometimes, people can't get to a gym yet...but you can choose to add stairs, park far, walk around the block...just keep adding.
Also, think lifestyle change. no more diets. and by the way...congrats on knocking off the cigs. I can't believe how many years i spent puffing on those things and so glad I quit too.
Have fun, ask questions and post successes. Take care and Welcome! Ferret.

Happy New Year!! I quit smoking a few years back with the help of a support website and thought maybe I could also get the support/tips/etc online to help lose this extra load I've been carrying since I quit the smoking! I'm 53, (hard to believe, how did that happen?) and I've packed on at least an extra 50 lbs in the past 5 years (How did THAT happen?). I don't feel so good since, physically and emotionally. Yuk. I'm not doing the New Years resolution but it seems as good a time as any to start. This looks like a good site, a little overwhelming at first. Where do folks start? Do folks find it helpful? Well, thanks for listening, gotta go fill the woodstove....
