hello Nita, glad to hear from u and that 49rs are still in there .
My friend got stuck on her weight loss and for one week she ate normal(sensible) and was chuffed to have came down 2lbs. She had not been eating enough.
Have heard of the Wendy diet and it is a similar idea.

Still here! Still working on loosing the weight & exercising 5 days a week. The weight has stopped kind of on a plateau but still working hard at it.
It has been a long time since I have posted. But all is going well with me.

Hello everyone hope all is going good for all 1949'ers.
I am still working on loosing weight & keeping up with the exercise. I feel so much better & have more energy then I did a year ago.
So we all need to keep up the good work & remember this is for us. We might be 58 but we can feel 20 if we want too.

Have at last managed to get to 148lbs.so can post again, how are you all getting on? Now I am aiming for 140lbs. there is still a way to go as I am so small, height wise lol

Hi other '49ers, Just found this discussion. I joined at the beginning of January. I have had a loss of 9 pounds since then, which is more success than I have had in a long time! I have been in and out of WW so many times and it never motivated me enough. SPARK works. Like someone else said here, it is hard to believe we are 58 now when we still feel like 20's inside!! How did the world around us change so fast? I saw a cute internet cartoon with a cat unrolling a a roll of toilet paper that said...the closer to the end the faster it goes!! Is that ever true!! Hello to you all!

Have not been posting for ages so all 49rs.out there should have lost a few lbs. How are you all doing.? Personally I have struggled .Have not given up , that would be to easy.I am now going to weight managemnt at our local hospital, no diet sheets just a chat with a very nice lady who sort of directs you
and encourages, also having to check in to be weighed every Tuesday means that I am not going mad. Have started low carb because the food cravings were getting a bit overwhelming and that definetily helps .
My hip is improving and shall try a little more exercise this week, have only been swimming for past few weeks.

Hey Peanut I know how you feel !!! If not for painpills I don't think I could get out of bed somedays. I had a shot in my spine for a pinched nerve yesterday and today the legs are fine , but my lower back and my bottom hurts when I walk and just naggs when I sit down. But in a couple of days that pain will be gone and hopefully so will the leg and hip pain . My illness causes muscel pain which I live with everyday some days are better than others and I can do without pain pills but when I am really hurting I have to take them.

After pulling a muscle in my hip last Monday I had to take painkillers, they ran out so I have tried to do without them but sleep is impossible for the pain .It is 32 yrs. since I was in labour this pain is on a par needless to say I was first in the docs. surgery for more meds. So I am typing away here as high as a kite thank goodness for modern medicine.
wonder how many callories are in these tablets ---------- as if I care..

Hi Peanut,
I went and had my spine shot today it is a little painful in the lower back(shot area) But I am hoping tomorrow it will feel better.
My heat unit wasn't heating right this morning so I had to call the manager and they have it almost done. It is working enough to keep me warm till they can finish the job either tomorrow or Monday.
It has been very cold today and supposed to get colder tonight and tomorrow may even have some icey weather.
I have decided that monday I am starting over and I am going to make it work right this time. I know I can do it.

Hello NettieJ, I pulled a muscle in my hip last Monday and along with other health problems I thought that was the end of my health and fitness goals but no I have just had to readjust my goals making smaller expectations of myself. I went to our local pool yesterday and just walked in the water for a while .
this felt good and I know it was doing me good mentaly aswell as physicaly.
Weight comes and goes but we are responsible if we let it stay,change you'r routine it might help
give your metabilism a boost.
but don't give up.
write out what u are eating and see where the extras are creeping in, my problem is portion control if I like something I like plenty of it.and would have eaten the same portion size as my husband + a dessert(he doesn't have a sweet tooth)so gues who that was for.
Have some fun along the way.

Hello Everyone,
Well, I have been at Spark People since the 5th of Jan. and I am still finding new things !! I thought I replied to a 1949 post but I guess it wasn't this one.
I am a little depressed I gained 3 lbs. and I can't do that !! I had a heart attack in Nov. 07 and only have 50% of my heart working. I joined the YMCA , but haven't been since right before Christmas . I just can't get motivated I just sit.
Well in my defense I have an MS type illness and I have pain everyday and for a few months now I have had sever pain due to a pinched nerve. I am going tomorrow to get a shot in my spine that will hopefully get rid of the extra pain. Maybe then I will get myself going again.
Ok I have rattled enough , I look forward to getting to know you all.

pleased about your blood pressure, my husband has it and it was the optician who told him to go to his doctor or we may never have known no other signs but bloodshot eye.

I got re-evaluated last Thursday & all the numbers are down but my blood pressure. It was 175/86 not a good reading. But I guess I will need to go to the doctor & see what the problem is. I am on blood pressure pills that have been working for about 2 years now. With exercise & loosing 40lbs I should be able to get off the pills but it remains to be seen. stress is a lot of my problem with life. But just have to learn to deal with things & keep exercising & diet & keep things going in the directions they are with my weight & maybe things will work out.

Nita you have a great attitude to weight loss and I find it very refreshing. for a long time I just wanted the weight of any way any how but now it is my lifestyle that is changing and healthy options are making the difference. I am aiming for 1lb. per week and I am sure in 30wks. I will be down 30lbs.
Ladies (and Gents) keep posting let's know what is happening to you the good and the bad what works and what doesn't.

I am at a stand still too. I just have to keep trying & keep exercising & I know it will start again coming off. It has almost taken me a year to get off the 40 lbs but that's ok, it took me 58 years to get it on. So slow going & keep the faith & it will come off again.
We just have to feel good about ourselves & it will start moving again.
All of you take heart & keep trying!!

hi everyone! I'm also a 49er. I have been stuggling with my weight for my entire adult life. And I am proud to say I have lost 60 pounds since joining SP. I feel so much better now that I have lost the weight. But I have not been able to lose anymore weight in the last few months. I have been staying pretty much the same though occasionally going up or down a couple of pounds. I do strength training 3 times a week and cardio 5 times a week in the form of outdoor walking or WATP basically. I'd like to lose more weight but maybe I should just be happy with what I have accomplished so far?

I too was born in 1949. I thought I was too old to start exercising last year but I have done better then I expected. I have lost 40 lbs now I started in Feb of 2007. walking on treadmill & in Sept. 2007 I started an aerobics class at the gym I go to. It has helped me in so many ways. I still feel fat & don't realize that I have lost in sizes too. My clothes are hanging off me but I still try to wear the same size 2x. I guess it is just something that is hard to realize that you have lost the weight. But I am not going to stop trying. I still have 50 lbs to go or I want to. But just don't worry about how much more I have to go. Just that I have lost the first 40 lbs.
We all have to keep up the good work & never stop trying. We have set backs but then we start again.
Keep up the good work girls from 49. We can do it together.

This is not impossible.

Feeling good is the best motovator bet you thought you would have to lose lbs. for the feel good factor but no we just have to take a day at a time and before you know it a week has gone past. Ladies if you would like us 49rs. to keep together on here let me know because we might start a group later see what happens. Have been in hospital all afternoon pulled a muscle in my right hip and was in dreadful pain ,I kept being sick and fainting with the pain my body just went into shock . was given meds and painkilling injection now Thankfully pain is not so severe and I have ibubrufen and cocodamol to take .I can bend over and walk a little.
Ladies keep going I am greatly encouraged by you all and Remember all the beat people were born in 1949

Hello everyone ,How are you geting along, getting a little exercise in ?(remember ,housework counts and playing with grandchildren if they are around) just keep moving.Don't let yourself get bored or stressed,
if you can help it.That would be when I would want to treat myself.
Have just discovered something which helped me end my meal, might help someone else .
After dinner last night I took a sweet biscuit (really sweet )and I felt the way I do after a good fill of chocolate. If there is any science out there on that I 'd like to know but it sure felt good and satisfying.
Let's keep together girls, another day closer to our goal.Aiming for 1lb. this week ,in 14 wks. that will be 1 stone, Keep it nice and steady if I lose more that is a bonus (lost nothing this week
 but put nothing on
Remembered school song from way back and think it would be good for us .

| Hi - new here and another 1949er. I am so happy to have found this site and am starting my new year goal to lose 30 lbs. Last spring my sugar was out of control and I lost 20 lbs due to diabetes. Once they changed meds and got my sugar under control the weight started creeping back up and then I really overate during the holidays.......sigh.... so I'm grateful my sugar is normal but I need to get my weight down again. I already started my journal, plan to walk every day. Yes, definitely, let's keep each other motivated. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

| Hi--I'm 58 years old and need to have a "buddy" to be accountable to, so I guess we can try to do it together? I have about 25 to 30 pounds to lose as well, I have been going to a personal trainer 3 times a week, but neglect to journal my food intake. Thus, I "forget" or "neglect" to use my journal, with someone to help keep me on track I might accomplish my goal. What are your hang-ups? Ballet2

I need as much help as I can get, as every time ,the weight goes on again a few pounds more. 30lbs to go .I am quite positive just now but that can change. I hope that I would check in every day and be honest, if I cheat I am only cheating myself.
I would like to help others to keep on course but would not know what to do. Maybe just sharing the journey to a slimmer self might help.

Jump in and starting chatting with everyone. I find the best way to motivate myself is to help motivate others. I just know that I will get to goal, but don't know how long it will take. What matters to me is signing in to SP every single day and being honest with myself.
