Thank you very much for the good advice. I think I might have been on the low end of my calories and waiting too long to eat. Packing a lunch so it can be eaten soon after exercising is a very good idea.
Take care.

On the days that I swim, I am always extra hungry too. I find having a some serious protein with some carbs within 45 minutes after exercising really seems to help. you've got to really work at doing that. Sometimes I pack my lunch in my gym bag and eat in the car on the way home. For me the trick is to not go more than an hour or so after exercise without eating. Make sure that you aren't skimping on your calories on a regular basis either. I was consistently trying to stay at the low end of my calories everyday. But these past 2 weeks, I've added more exercise and eaten closer to my mid or max range and have had 2 pound losses. Sometimes listening to our bodies is important. Just make wise healthy food choices and skip the sugar and white flour carbs. Those will keep you craving more!

Dear Debbie:
The apple idea is great! I've been eating Smart Start for breakfast, but now that the weather is turning cooler the oatmeal with blueberries sounds simply marvelous.
Take care.
And Thank you.

I always take a apple with me and eat it while I am walking and it really seems to help with my appetite. I ear extra thick rolled oats with blueberries for breakfast and it is really filing as well as high fiber. Have a nice day, debbie

No, haven't been tracking fiber, but will start now. Thank you for the advice.
Take care.

Are you tracking 'fiber' Kathy? I find that if I stay at the high end of fiber range my appetite is much more easily satisfied. Maybe it would be the same for you.

Hi:
I've been going to the gym in the morning after breakfast (cereal, yogurt, orange juice) My workout includes treadmill, bike, elliptical, stretch, weight machines and dumbells. I drink water while working out and on the ride home. But, boy I'll tell you when I get home I am positively ravenous. I can't seem to eat enough. I've tried eating lunch when I get home (salad, sandwich, and fruit), but I seem to be craving pretzels. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried to drink a whole lot more water thinking that would help, but it's like I just can't eat enough. Am wondering if it's just in my mind, and maybe if someone tells me so then I'll believe them. But for all the working out I'm doing, it's like it's a waste of time because I eat so much. Maybe I'm just a lost cause. I'm not looking for sympathy, but please, does someone out there have some advice that will help me to continue to work out, but just not eat so much? Sorry, it's late at night and I'm feeling frustrated.
