What a subject!! I don't have that problem unless I laugh to much. You know like in the movie Pretty Woman where she says she laughed so hard she thought she was going to pee her pants:) Good luck to all hope you find a fix, because someday I may be asking for the same help.

I tried joining a gym once, but every time I did any exercising with a group, I would leak with every move. Kegels never helped me - I taught Lamaze class never truly believing what I would tell new mothers about Kegels. I found that walking does the trick for me. Not flat-land walking, though. It has to be up and down hills in both hard and soft dirt. As long as I can walk a couple of times a week, I have no problem with leakage.

I dealt with this problem from the time I had my first child. I had been doing Kegals for 30 years and it never did much good. Losing weight didn't help much either. I could never seem to empty my bladder. Then I started doing these hanging leg lifts at the gym. The first time I tried them I could barely do 3. I hurt so bad afterwards that I couldn't even stand up straight and when I went pee I felt like screaming it hurt so bad. But I continued doing them, and by the time I could do 3 sets of 10, the problem was totally gone, after dealing with it for 30 years! If Kegals don't do it, try a hanging leg lift.

When all else fails, go see your doctor!!! I did, and a week ago I had a minor procedure called a TVT, Tension-free Vaginal Tape.....and it cure the problem! It's been great, and I wish I had done it years ago, but I never knew it was possible. I only heard by word of mouth from a co-worker!!! Here's a link http://www.chicagotvt.com/
Good luck!!

Good for you Raydine1 and I agree with you about getting help as this absolutely does not have to be a problem. I am doing kegels as I write, just to be certain I can reach 80 without this problem too.

Great post! I have yet to figure out how I can go to the bathroom ,emty my bladder (or so I thought) and 5 minutes later sneeze and have leakage! It's like, "ok....now where did that come from?"

I have the leakage problem also, I'm 51. I never go anywhere without the pads. I had a hysterectomy about 7 years ago and it helped that problem immensely, but I still have leakage and once I get started there is no stopping. I can just have emptied my bladder and then sneeze or be doing my exercise and have leakage. But for me it is so much better than before my hysterectomy, I had fibroids that got very large, the Dr. said my uterus was the size of a 6 mo. pregnancy. During that time it was awful. So I just learned to live with it. You know cross your legs when you feel a sneeze coming on (HA). I try to practice the kegal exercises also, probably need to be more dillegent.
In the same boat, Barb

For years I have done Kegel exercise and they work!
Eliminating the worry you mention is worth the time and you can do them anytime/anywhere.
from Wikipedia
"A Kegel exercise, named after Dr. Arnold Kegel, is an exercise designed to strengthen the pubococcygeus muscles. The exercises consist of the regular clenching and unclenching of the muscles which form part of the pelvic floor (sometimes called the "Kegel muscles").

The aim of Kegel exercises is to restore muscle tone and strength to the pubococcygeus muscles in order to prevent or reduce pelvic floor problems and to increase sexual gratification. Kegel exercises are said to be good for treating vaginal prolapse and preventing uterine prolapse in women.

Kegel exercises may be beneficial in treating urinary incontinence in both men and women. Kegel exercises are also known as pelvic floor exercises, or simply Kegels.

Although Dr. Kegel contemporized and popularized this practice, it is by no means new. The Taoists of ancient China developed a number of different sexual practices to strengthen and tone these same muscles for health, longevity, sexual gratification, and spiritual development. Directly akin to the Kegel exercise is the Taoist practice of the Deer Exercise. The Yogis of India also had a similar practice in Hatha yoga known as Aswini Mudra (the horse gesture) which is taught and practiced to this day"

At 56, when I drink ALL my water, it is hard to make it to the bathroom all the time. It seems I'm in there ALL the time. It is really hard on my 1/2 marathon training and outside. Afraid to drink to much, but don't want to dehydrate. The pad problem has been around for a while, but when drinking all my water, it gets worse. Just wondering if I'm the only one with Poise Pads??? Hard to hold when have to go...... LB
