| I love the Gospel of John, particularly Chapter 6 and the Bread of Life discourse (6:22-59) But the scripture I most identify with is Peter's response to the Lord's question, "Do you also want to leave?" when His disciples found His command to eat His Flesh and drink His Blood too difficult to believe: "Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words to eternal life." (Jn 6:67)

Thanks Grandma and Laurie for sharing those beautiful scripture verses.
Laurie, My signature on my emails I also use Jeremiah 29:11. Matthew 22:37 also reads You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. We must put Him first before anything else even our own family.
I am so blessed to see that you have come to the Lord. Praise God.

MGRANDMA49,
I love the book of Deuteronomy. It is one of my favorites.
Here is another favorite scripture passage of mine:
"Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang: Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"
Revelation 5:11-12
I wrote a paper about these two verses for school, and one thing that came to my attention was that the thousands upon thousands of angels sang with ONE voice! That means with the same focus, in one accord, with one heart in love with Him!
Bless G-d!

No matter what valley of trails I may be in I know that my Lord will never leave nor forsake me. What a sweet assureance he gives us. DEUTERONOMY 4:30 30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, [even] in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
DEUTERONOMY 4:31 31 (For the LORD thy God [is] a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

Carmelann,
Your signature verse is one that my therapist gave to me. I have it up on my fridge, in big, bold letters.
I have so many "favorites"! One that Jews everywhere say every day, and Jesus said as well, is this...it's called The Shema:
Hear, O Israel, the L-rd our G-d, the L-rd is One. Love the L-rd your G-d with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:4-5

Confident - assured; certain Confidence - firm belief; trust; reliance
"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you WILL perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" Philippians 1:6
I am assured that God has begun a good work in me, and if I let Him, He will keep working and performing it until the day that Jesus returns.
"But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." Hebrews 3:6
and one more,
"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward." Hebrews 10:35
I have put my trust in Jesus, whose house I am; He is my confidence; therefore I can face each day with joy; each trial with hope;and each battle wihout fear.
Be blessed, Alice

| Ladies it is early morning and I am not in bed yet. I have had a busy day. But I had to tell each of you that no matter what we go thru, at the end of the road our Heavenly Father is there waiting to encourage us when we need it. To feed us when we need it. But most of all to Love us when we need it. It could be of the flesh or of the spirit, He does supply our needs. Have a good day.

Sometimes we might feel like there is no solution to our problems that we face daily. Wheater it be due to a physical illness, finances, personal relationships or other perplexing problems our God is always there for us. He will always meet our needs. I read this scripture today and it ministered to me and I hope it ministers to you.
And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

| You're so right. I've just been meditating on that scripture all day--thought about that word "subdue." Like God told Adam to subdue the earth, it doesn't mean to get rid of it. It means to bring it into subjection. I looked that word up, and in addition to bringing into subjection, it means to bring under control, especially by the exertion of the will--to curb. Ever heard THAT before--curb the appetite?! It also means to reduce the intensity or degree of--to tone down. So . . . when the Word says He will subdue all things, it doesn't mean to get rid of it. Oh, wouldn't I love that? But it DOES mean he will curb things, bring it under control, and most of all bring it into subjection to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I think that helps me to understand that these things will always be there, and He knows that. But He will be the one would keeps it under control if we let Him! PTL!

| Well, when we truly just listen to what God's word is telling us, we can do all things, even if that means losing the weight that we in the flesh put on because we in the flesh like to eat. When we get to where being in God's will and doing what we know we are suppose to do, then He will show us just what it is that we need to do. But that comes thru the spirit, then we need to apply it to our flesh. I love my Jesus for all he has done for me, opening my spiritual eyes that I may see things and people in a different way. His Word is just what a hunger soul needs. Feed the spirit first, then the flesh will not over power us.

| I LOVE it when God surprises me! After all these years of walking with Him, He opened my eyes to something new this morning. I was reading in Philippians 3, and when I read v. 20b-21, I discovered a new application. ". . . the Lord Jesus Christ who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself." If you're like me, you usually read this as our fleshly body being made into a heavenly body someday. TODAY I saw that we are created in His image, but we pervert that when we don't eat healthy. But HE SHALL CHANGE our vile body like unto His . . . and He is able to SUBDUE ALL THINGS!! Our hunger, our cravings, our binges, our WHATEVER IS OUT OF CONTROL RELATED TO FOOD, our emotions . . . ALL THINGS HE WILL SUBDUE UNTO HIM! Not unto anything else--not to our will power, our diet plan, our desperation--not even to Spark. UNTO HIM! Glory! Praise His holy Name! Thank you, Jesus, for this new revelation today!

MGRANDMA49, Your scripture reminded me of one of my most favorite scriptures. It is also in Micah. "Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me." Micah 7:8 The part that says "when I fall, I shall arise" always makes me want to shout. He didn't say we would never fall, but He did say we shall arise. Praise the Lord! So, in the physical and the Spiritual, we will have battles, and sometimes we will fail, but we get back up and keep going because the Lord is our light.
Be blessed, Alice

My scripture for today is, He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8 May our Heavenly Father embrace you and give you the power you need to walk thru what ever you must go thru. For with his loving arms, he will carry you thru all.

One of my alltime favorites that helped me through a really dark time in my life is Philippians 4:4-7. "Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. . . . Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." When we do what is necessary for him to KEEP our hearts and minds, that just about takes care of it all!!! And He has been faithful to do that for me over the years. We are facing some obstacles right now, that are a little overwhelming. But I KNOW He will do this again and again, for He is true to His Word. Have a BLESSED DAY, all of you.

Thank you Ladies for all those wonderful and encouraging Scriptures. We used to sing a song that goes like this: Our God is an awesome God, He reigns from Heaven above, with Wisdom, Power and Love, our God is an awesome God. He is always there for us in our time of need. He will never leave us nor forsake us. All we have to do is ASK, in His name. He is our Helper, and our Convictor and all we have to do is ask Him to help us not eat that first bite that will cause us to have a bad day.
Another great scripture is "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me." John 14:6

I hope it is okay for me to get one of my favorite scriptures in here, too. Isaiah 41:13 "For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." And one more: IJohn 3:8b "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." I find great comfort in knowing that God is holding my right hand and that Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. Be blessed, Alice

Yes, God's Word is the best help we can have. I bought this journal about two years ago from a Ladies meeting in Baton Rouge, La. A christian lady wrote it for ladies that were having problems with their weight. I put one thing in it, then quite. Then when I got serious about my weight, I took it out again. For the first week this is what she tells you to do. Make your situation a daily matter of prayer. Pray every day for the following things. 1. Ask God to show you the dress size and/or weight that would be pleasing to Him, your husband(if you have one), and that would help you to be at your best. 2. Ask God to give you strength to have the victory. 3. Ask God to give you wisdom to make right decisions about you plan of weight control. 4. Ask God to help every woman using this journal to find it to be a source of tremendous hope and help. Now that is really good. I like this site because we can share our favorite scrpture. I hope that this site will be a true blessing to all that visit it. Myra

CarmelAnn, that has been one of my favorites for many years, too. What I LOVE about the Word is that it's ALIVE and sharper than a 2-edged sword!! I could send you an answer every day and probably never run out of another favorite!! Some days one scripture speaks to me more than another. One favorite of mine is Hebrews 12:1-2. Since my grandparents came to the U.S. for religious freedoms, this scripture's meaning is intensified.
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside very weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, ad let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Nice to know you, Sharon
