Hi Denise - I hope this week is better for you - I'm taking one day at a time, and trying very hard to make sure that I walk at least 30 minutes a day on the treadmill, watching what I eat and writing down everything, too. I feel like I'm doing something positive for myself - so good times! Good luck this week - keep us posted. Linda

Hi everybody - no I didn't change my mind, but I didn't get started last Tuesday, but did start this morning. Long story, but just couldn't do it last week.
Anyway today is a new day, and I started. I'm at work so have to go. So maybe I can post here in a week and tell you I've lost some weight.
Thanks for all the posts.
Denise

Stress is what is my downfall - at least now that I recognize that, I'm hoping that I can turn things around by staying with SP even when I get close to my goal - this past fall I was in a very, very stressful situation and gained back my 20 pounds I lost last summer plus a few more - aahhh - now it's back to SP with renewed resolve, and a lot less stress. We can get there - Linda

I am new to Spark too.
I did atkins and loved it. I lost the weight very quickly and felt really really good. But then I got sick (flu and virus) and I didnt stick with it. I have gained it back but it took 1 1/2 years to gain back. protein just seems to really work for me!!
I am doing WW now. My problem is I tend to weigh every day and I have got to stop that!!! It's a habit I started and cant seem to stop! According to my records this week, I have lost 4~~gained 4 lost 4 and today...gained 4. See what I mean?? I HAVE to stop!! lol
I am hoping to find the support I need and the kick in the butt when I am not following the program. So dont hesitate to boot me when I complain, or gain.....I deserve it!! It will keep me on track!
hello to all...

Denise boy, you and i sure sound alot alike! (altho i am from wisconsin) 3 years ago, when atkins was so hot, my hubby and i were on it, us too, lost a ton of weight (no pun intended!!) but then i got deathly sick, ended up in the hospital, and had to go off the diet, which of course led us both to gain all of our weight back, PLUS! about 20#'s! so i have been on spark for quite awhile, just love it here, my big problem is my willpower. if i stuck to the program here, i would have lost all my weight. so i have recharged myself and i am very serious about it this time. WE CAN DO IT, I KNOW WE CAN!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US. karen

Hi, all - diet sodas seem to help me hold on to extra pounds - I've switched over to either light cranberry juice or water with lemon or lime and splenda. Last summer I stopped drinking diet sodas for several months and after a week or so didn't miss them as much as I thought I would. This fall, under a lot of stress, I headed for the soda machine again - think this time, I may be off them for good. Too coincidental for me - just one factor, I know, but at least it's one I can control. I also like flavored green tea - have a good week - Linda

Food tracking - so true. It's an eye-opener. Also, I totally agree on the diet coke problem. I find it so much easier to drink the water in summer, not sure why.

Hi,
Well, I go for calorie counting and low fat. No junk food and trying to get the water drinking to catch on. If only I could drink as much water as diet coke I'd be laughing. I have to say writing down what you eat and being truthful about it is the best for me.

Hey, Katz
Welcome! I hope you'll find lots of support here. We are about in the same place, I guess. (Not geographically). What's worked best for me in the past is simply counting calories. I'm trying to get back into the habit and also to stop eating what is obviously junk food more suitable to a 20 year old! Too much fat in the atkins plan for me - watching liver enzymes.
Good luck to you. And happy new year!

Hi - I'm not over 50,but turned 50 in July, so hope its okay to join. I thought maybe you all could give me some information about trying to lose weight at this time in my life.
I have about 85 lbs to lose. I use to could lose fast, but of course everything slows down now. Thern there are the hormones too!! Yuch!! I'm just at a loss to which diet to start. Two years ago I lost almost 50 lbs in six months on Atkins, now I hear its unhealthy. Was thinking of low fat. I just am so confused. I feel comfortable with atkins because I know it, but feel to like this is a long term thing and I need to learn how to eat real food and lose weight. I've been overweight my whole life it seems and have tried every diet that comes out, I just need a lifestyle change now.
Can you girls tell me what works best. I want to start tomorrow and was going to go Atkins, but now I don't know. Can't seem to make my mind up and was wondering what had worked better for yall - oops I'm from Texas - some of that Texas slang popped up!! LOL!!
My name is Denise, not married and no kids. Lost my mom last year and I can't seem to get back on my feet from that - bad depression and have been eating constantly to feel this whole in my heart.
Okay that's enough just nice to meet all of you and hope I can give support to someone because I sure need that too.
