| Hi, I'm 57 and trying to lose about 35 pounds. This holiday was a setback but I am back on track today at least. I have two grown kids and one 14 year old. I have high blood pressure too and had a stroke (small one) last year. SP is a wonderful site and it has been very helpful to me, but dieting is very difficult and it seems I always start a diet around the holidays, which makes it even harder to be successful. I joined a gym which is helping also. I'm going to take it one day at a time and hopefully lose the ten pounds I wanted to lose by Christmas. All I've had so far is a tiny piece of pumpkin bread with a smidgeon of butter and black coffee this morning. We can do this.

I too have the high blood pressure, I have two kids, both in college at the moment. I joined SP in late Oct. I really enjoy coming to these pages. Today I am late getting here, usually I signed on first thing in the am. So Welcome!

Welcome Mary, You have definitely come to the right place. Anne-Marie is right about all the info and support you will get.
I joined SP because I'm dealing with a few extra pounds that I want to lose before they become a big problem. A few years ago I lost 75 pounds, so I can relate to the amount of weight you want to lose.
My advise is to start by making small changes in your diet and exercise that you know you can live with. These small changes will soon become habits that will lead to weight loss. Also be patient and take it one day at a time. Think of this as a new lifestyle.
I know you can do it! Good luck!!

Hi Mary
I'm 53 grandmother of 6 one more on the way.I'm from Quebec, Canada and enjoy reading gardening and variaty of crafts, but most of all I enjoy spending time with my children & grandchildren.
I started SP just a little over 2 months ago. There is so much info you can get on this site it's unbelivable, and the support you get from all the team member is also very helpfull to keep you from going of the wagon when it doesn't go exactly how you'd like it to.
Make sure to use the food tracker I find it one of the best tool on the site. You realy see how much you eat and more important what you eat.
I also try to drink at least the 8 glass of water recommended every day and do at least 30 min of cardio everyday.
and best of luck in you journey
Anne-Marie

Hi, I'm 54.. my daughter is getting married in Cancun in January. Naturally, I want to be slimmer, but more important is I want to be healthier. I'm 75 pounds overweight, out of shape, arthritic, with high bloodpressure and very achy. I'm hoping that Spark will help. I'm counting on all of you to give support and help me hang in there until I reach my goal; afterwards, I'd like for you to help me stay there! I want to see my future grandchildren and be able to play with them. I, like many others, have "tried" many diets. I know I can't do it without realistic goals, eating properly and exercise. I don't want to fall off the bandwagon THIS time! I'm sure there is someone out there who is in the same boat. I would love to be a diet buddy with you.
Mary
