Welcome JOYCES7! You've come to a wonderful resource of information and support. It took me a while to get the hang of how to use all of the tools on this site, but that's been fun for me.

A couple of suggestions: 1) The Nutrition Tracker has a feature that provides a week's worth of menus and a grocery list to go with it, so you're sure to be eating well balanced meals and snacks.

2) Check out the Resource Center to get ideas on exercise. One of the newer ideas is that you only need about 10 minutes a day of a good program - and you can do this in the privacy (and safety) of your own home. I enjoy videotapes/dvd's that I use in the morning before work while I'm still in my pj's!

3) Patience. I figure I put it on slowly so I need to take it off slowly while I learn new habits.

Hi everyone. Glad to be here
I'm 69 looking forward to 70. I'm still pushing a medicine cart on the 11-7 shift two nights a week. I'm also writing a novel that I intend to be an urban rip off of Mitford.
All the things that I did to stay fit and strong get absolutely no response when I suggest them to myself.
I prefer couches, large chairs and cars.
Walking just asks the question "where are the bathrooms". And my neighborhood isn't the safest. (10 years ago i would walk for hours in the early hours of the morning unconcerned about "safety". The list is endless. Last week I ate veggies and fruits and very little meat. this week it's been hot dogs, fried pork chops and roast beef with a small veggie on the side with no fruit. That's why i joined up.
NO will power just imagination.
so I'll be reading what you write hoping to make a connection.
