Really quiet around the boards this weekend. Guess everyone is having their last summer fling.
Blessings to all.
I'm back to studying.

To all of us gorgeous females.....

In case you missed it on 60 minutes...

This is for all you girls 30 years and over.... and for those who are
turning 30, and for those who are scared of moving into their 30's...AND
for guys who are scared of girls over 30!!!!
*This was written by Andy Rooney from CBS 60 Minutes.

Andy Rooney says:

As I grow in age, I value women who are over 30 most of all. Here are just
a few reasons why:

A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask,
"What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.
If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around
whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's usually
something more interesting.

A woman over 30 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is,
what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 30
give a hoot what you might think about her or what she's doing.
Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at
the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you
deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get
away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's
like to be unappreciated.

A woman over 30 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women
friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend
because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over 30 couldn't
care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends
won't betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a
woman over 30. They always know.

A woman over 30 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of
younger women. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 30 is far
sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are
forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you
are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with
her.

Yes, we praise women over 30 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately,
it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of
30+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of
himself with some 22-year-old waitress.

Ladies, I apologise.

For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk
for free". Here's an update for you.

Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's
not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.

We all need to laugh......

2005 DARWIN AWARDS
Yes, it's that magical time of the year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least Evolved among us. Here then, are the glorious winners.

2005 Darwin Award Winners:

1. When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a holdup in Long Beach, California, would be robber James Elliot did something
that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked..... And now, the honorable mentions:

2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting machine and, after a little hopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company.
The company expecting negligence, sent out one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and lost a finger. The chef's claim was approved.

3. A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her.

4. After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

5. An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving train before he was hit.

6. A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the
counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer...$15 If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?

7. Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he'd just throw a cinderblock through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run. So he lifted the cinderblock and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinderblock bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape.

8. As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store, a man grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately, and the woman was able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the police apprehended the snatcher. They put him in the car and drove back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, "Yes, officer, that's her. That's the lady I stole the purse from."

9. The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti, Michigan, at 5 a.m., flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn't open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they weren't available for breakfast. The man, frustrated, walked away.

10 When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle street, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal gasoline and plugged his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges, saying that it was the best laugh he'd ever had.

I am now "double nickels" since 8/1. The weight I am trying to lose is very stubborn. I just bought 2 DVDs from Leslie Sansone since it is too hot in Tampa to walk outside. So I'm hoping that walking inside will move the scale. I read about her tapes on one of the threads here. Thanks for the info!

Well, I made up for the first month not gaining weight and put 13 pounds back on. But I didn't smoke.
Last weekend I treated myself to the Leslie Sansone book and first tape along with a yoga tape as a reward. I've worked out more this week than I have in the last month, and having a ball with Sparkguy's 10 minute challenge.
Still haven't tried out the yoga. Listening to the football game tonight. The tape is for morning and night, so I think I'll break it open tomorrow.

Hi Lin!

Well today is not so good for me. For some reason I am depressed but cannot figure out exactly why. My husbands mood has soured over the last 2 days, so maybe that has something to do with it. I jsut feel like eating everything today. Good thing I am at work and have nothing! Will eat my left over soup and be done with it. I am trying to keep busy and forget about it, but some days are more difficult than others.

Hi Lin,

I had a busy weekend. Made a basket on Friday night after work, spent some time with my Granddaughter of Saturday morning, Worked the Kansas City Wizards Soccer Game in the blazing heat, then went home and passed out of exhaustion that night. Sunday was busy doing laundry and ironing - my favorite thing to do. At least I kept away from all the food this weekend. Leaves me wondering when it went this morning! How was your?

Hi Pam,

Thanks for stopping by! We were mumbling earlier this week, but its hard to say what tomorrow will bring!

That's great you didn't gain for a month! Great Job! I'll bet being back on track the 3.4 will drop back off just as quick!

Company was great. But ended too soon. I left them July 4th in Tulsa. I'm going through withdrawal pains from not having anyone around again. Yesterday I was putting everything in my mouth that wasn't nailed down!

Hope you have a good weekend!

Hi Lin. How is your week going? Still not talking to the scales? I like that thought. I needed that last week when I put everyting I saw in my mouth to the tune of 3.4 pounds. I was doing pretty good to. hadn't gained in over a month. I'm back on track now. Hope you are doing well with your company.

Found an article in AARP that really struck a cord. I don't know if I am trying to hide my age, or just resent folks categorizing me by my age.
For those who belong, it was on page 39 of the July/August edition of the magazine. For those who don't, check out my thread "I can see clearly now..."
I really don't feel like my perception of 55. I feel more like 38. Arrested development?

Most fun I've had in a long time.
Trying to get the placed in order for company coming on Monday. It's actually starting to look like home again!
I'm ignoring the scales right now, they don't have anything positive to say, so we're not talking. But I'm exercising and working in the yard and cleaning house, and for today sticking within range on food, so we may be on speaking terms again next week!
Have a good Sunday!

Crazy, crazy day at work today! Bunches of people off, the ones of us there didn't want to work, and I was trying to get caught up before vacation.
One of our people is moving to another section, so we had a burrito breakfast bar this morning. A couple of the kids loaded his cubicle with balloons.
Before the end of the day we were playing kick the balloons! Had a ball!

Been waking up and getting up at 5 the last 3 days. Its probably the birds fault. They start singing so early.

So far, so good on the studying. Next Monday will tell the tale.
Staying good on range for food this week, actually lower than a while. I dropped 7 of the 8 pounds I gained in two weeks, at last week's weigh-in. Doubtful I will lose any this week while my body adjusts.
Three weeks to vacation! It will be fun and hectic. My brother is coming in for a convention and I get to play chauffeur to down town for my brother and tour guide for my sister-in-law. Then that Thursday we are driving to Tulsa to meet up with his kids/grandkids. I'll drive back on the 4th so I'll have the 5th to rest up before work again.
Hope everyone is having a good week!

I have heard that before make me cry each time.

Remembering my mother!
June is the month my mother died in 1966 I was 21 when she died. She is dearly missed.
She always said to do nothing to bring shame on your self.
Remember your word is, your everything, if one can't count on your words they can't count on you.

Work hard and smart, take pride in a job well done.

Treat others, as you would like to be treated.

Don't allow anyone to use you as a door mat. You don't have to be anyones fool. Don't give anyone permission, to treat you badly. So if someone, says hurtful things, we have the choice to learn from it and or not to listen, an not take any cruel words to heart!

Our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, Honesty, Love, work, play, keeping our bodies healthy, family life, make & keep our positive friends, but not completely giving up on those who need us, but not allowing negative things or people to drain us of our positive entergy, keep intuned with our self awarness, are things we should practice daily.
5'11" tall, 165 pounds, Brown eyes, olive complection, Dark hair. Long beautiful hands and nails. Looked like a princess, when she walked.
Was a A student in school, most of her life.
Christmas, and easter was her favorite holidays.
Her family had a 665 acr. farm when she was growing, up loved animals, fresh food from the gardens,
Grandpa was a self taught man, only went to the third grade. But could out figure most people with math, he keep his own books at both stores. Was suppertendent of the schools in the county.

Grandpa grow food for his two grosery stores. So she learned to enjoy work, and the rewards..
Grandma was a loving, mother and grandmother, worked hard all here life. She raised me while mom worked. Lived to be nearly 92 died in 1989
She worked up until, she became to sick with cancer to work.

With practice, we may not become perfect, but we shall become better for it!

She believed that self and family was everything, and she worked at being the best she could be, at what ever she did in life. Was part of her nature.

When she entered the room everyone, noticed because she had a positive air about her. I guess some would call it pride. Self confident. I believe her enter beauty showed glowed all around her.
This is my love talking you know... miss my mom

Don't get me wrong, she was no angel! She had a potty mouth when she wanted to chock someone. She loved to laugh,, joke.. dance, play cards. She softly, demanded respect and she was loved by all that new her. Yet people learned that she wasn't one to mess with. Being raised with 3 older brothers. She could hold her own.
I hope that I have most of her qualities.

Received this email today and wanted to share it with all my Spark friends-I wish you enough-

Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the
security gate, they hugged and the mother said "I love you and I wish you enough."
The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough.Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom."

They kissed and the daughter left.

The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her
privacy but she welcomed me in by asking,"Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?".
"Yes, I have, " I replied. "Forgive me for asking but why is this a forever good-bye?".
"I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is the next trip back will be for my funeral" she said.

"When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say 'I wish you enough'. May I ask what that means?".

She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a moment
and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more.
"When we said 'I wish you enough' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them". Then turning
toward me she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye. She then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Send this to the people you will never forget. If you don't send it to anyone it may mean that you are in such a hurry that you have forgotten your friends.

TAKE TIME TO LIVE.....
To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH.....

Another week of Curves, 3X. It was a tough one this morning, I did NOT feel like going out. But I did it anyway, cuz I knew I'd feel rotten if I didn't and broke my streak. Nothing like a little negative reinforcement!
The scale might even go down this week. I've been avoiding it, figure my best plan of action is to sneak out of the 220s. Just keep on exercising, trying to make good food choices and tracking everything I eat, drink my water and forget about the scale.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

My brother sent me this story, just wanted to share...

MY ATTORNEY

After living what I felt was a "decent" life,

my time on earth came to the end.

The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting
room of what I thought to be a court house.

The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and

have a seat by the defense table.

As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor."

He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me.

He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen.

I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney,

a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance

seemed so familiar to me,I felt I knew Him.

The corner door flew open and there appeared

the Judge in full flowing robes.

He commanded an awesome presence as He moved

across the room I couldn't take my eyes off of Him.

As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, "Let us begin."

The prosecutor rose and said,

"My name is Satan and I am here to show you

why this man belongs in hell."

He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole,
and In the past when I cheated others. Satan told of other horrible Perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the further down in my seat I sank.

I was so embarrassed that I couldn't look at anyone,

even my own Attorney, as the Devil told of sins that

even I had completely forgotten about.

As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things

about me, I was equally upset at My Attorney, who

sat there silently not Offering any form of defense at all.

I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had done

some good in my life - couldn't that at least equal

out part of the harm I'd done?

Satan finished with a fury and said, "This man belongs in hell,
he is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person
who can prove otherwise."

When it was His turn, My Attorney first asked if He might
approach the bench. The Judge allowed this over the

strong objection of Satan, and beckoned Him to come forward.

As He got up and started walking, I was able to see

Him in His full splendor and majesty.

I realized why He seemed so familiar; this was Jesus
representing me, my Lord and my Savior.

He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge,

"Hi, Dad," and then He turned to address the court.

"Satan was correct in saying that this man had sinned,
I won't deny any of these allegations.

And, yes, the wage of sin is death, and this man deserves

to be punished."

Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with
outstretched arms and proclaimed, "However,.....

I died on the cross so that this person might have

eternal life and he has accepted Me as his
Savior, so he is Mine."

My Lord continued with, "His name is written in the

book of life and no one can snatch him from Me.

Satan still does not understand yet.
This man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy."

As Jesus sat down, He quietly paused, looked at

His Father and said,

"There is nothing else that needs to be done.

I've done it all."

The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down.
The following words bellowed from His lips..

"This man is free."

The penalty for him has already been paid in full.

Case dismissed."

As my Lord led me away, I could hear Satan ranting and

raving, "I won't give up, I will win the next one."

I asked Jesus as He gave me my instructions where to go next, "Have you ever lost a case?"

Christ lovingly smiled and said,

"Everyone that has come to Me and asked Me to represent

them has received the same verdict as you,

~Paid In Full~

If you do not pass this along to 15 people immediately,
absolutely nothing will happen.

Passing this on to anyone you consider a friend,
(as I have done here), will bless you both.

"Stop telling God how big your storm is.
Instead, tell the storm how big your God is!"

Good job. You are to be congratulated on your weight loss. A healthier lifestyle is the reward. Your weight will be what it will be. With a healthier lifestyle the weight will continue to come off. Not as fast as any of us like but it will come off.

Whew! Back on track, thank God! Curves has really been a help, and their little sign in the dressing room about enjoying the journey helped me focus on what is important.
Exercising, eating healthy, those are rewards themselves! My weight will be what it will be. But I'm enjoying life a lot more!
Down a pound and a half this week, 228.5, down 27.5 pounds since joining Christmas. Hooray!
Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

Sorry if anyone read the pre-edit post! Much better today and ready to get back with the program!
I'm going to focus on tracking, drinking my water, exercise and staying in range. Forget the scales until next Sunday.
I did maintain this week, which means my muscles did an awesome job, cuz' I sure didn't help them out in the eats department!
We're having our Spring blizzard today, everything has come to a halt. I've already had to go out and knock the snow off the Dish to get TV. I'm just hoping it doesn't block the heater vent and knock my heat off. So far so good!
It will be back in the 40s tomorrow and 50s by Tuesday, so this snow is really just an inconvenience to most of us. It is a major headache for those flying, nothing is going anywhere.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Went to Curves again today and got weighed and measured. There is hope!
Since 1/9/05 they show I have lost 7.5" and 14.68 pounds of fat, my body fat is down 2.4%! Woohoo!
Their weight measure does not correlate with mine, course I weigh buck-nekked at home, and there I have all my clothes on!
Hope everyone is having a good week!

Do you ever feel like a turtle, and want to just crawl back into your shell?
Feeling really vulnerable right now.
I made it to 228 on Friday, was the 2nd place person at 10.2%, far ahead of the rest of the folks. I thought I had lost, but there is a movement from the others to have the gal that is ahead of me weigh in when she gets back from Mexico.
Totally off track on food after weighing Friday morning. Went out for dinner last night and continued to overeat today.
I've got to use that tool between my two ears and get back with the program. Being off track really feels lousy.
Thank God, I did go to Curves today, so all is not lost. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Sure hope Curves kicks in again this week! I weighed the same Thursday as I did last Sunday. I try to stay away from the scales, but next Friday is the end of the biggest loser Challenge at work, so I sneaked a peek.
Worked out this morning, trying to keep the calories down today. Checked out the calorie tracking, and it looks like I lose weight easier when I keep it to 1200-1300 calories(duh, lower levels=higher weight loss!:)). So for this week, I guess I'll "diet" and try to keep the calories down.
I'm still happy with having lost 23 pounds since Christmas--its' just I would really like to win this contest! The $170 pot would make a terrific visit to the spa!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Seems I can't chew gum and walk at the same time! Keeping two journals requires too much information from my beleagured brain.
So if you don't see me here--check out the I can see clearly now..........thread on the Community Journal board.

Curves muscles must be kicking in--I lost 2 pounds this week! Woohoo!
Stayed in range today, just been putzing around the house. Grocery shopping, watering the outside flowers, washing clothes, changing the bed, putting away dishes, yada, yada, yada.
Having veggie chili for supper--comfort food w/out the fat.
Have a good week everyone!

Could of swore I posted here last night!
Good day for food and water, even with a birthday party at work. I took plenty of healthy munchies to keep me away from the other food.
Early to bed tonight, I'm still making up for missing Monday at work.
Sleep well all!

Didn't realize its been 3 days for this post. If anyone ever misses me, I've got a journal called I can see clearly now....
Seeing isn't doing. Even though I "see" and "know" what I need to do sure doesn't make it happen.

After my brain freeze this weekend, I rescheduled my test from the 10th to the 14th. Doesn't sound like much, but it give two full days more to study.
Tonight I'm just winging it, trying to settle down so I'll be ready to get back to the grind tomorrow.
Hope everyone is having a great night!

I don't feel as old as I think 55 is! I've still got so much to learn! Am I in denial? Probably. Yes.
That old adage, "you're only as old as you feel" makes sense to me. Some days I feel like I'm 80! Most of the time, I feel like I'm still in my thirties, still trying to figure out what this life thing is all about, thinking I've got all the time in the world.
Then I see my family dying, and the numbers are increasing each year, and I'm thinking, well, you better get with it kid, you're burning daylight!
For today, I'll try to keep young at heart, treat my body with respect, and keep looking for the answer on how to make a difference with my life.
With Sparkpeople, I'm hoping to stay active, and as physically and mentally healthy as possible. I wish my Mom had had the same opportunity.
Let's go 50+, let's go!
