Glonski Thank you for your review. I agree. Making Christ more human does not make him less of a God. DennyB

| We saw the movie last week and my husband had read the book and seen many shows on the history channel about it. He is catholic and does not have a problem with it. We both enjoyed the movie. The book is a book of fiction but the way I look at it ...if there were a grain of truth in it what difference would it make. Jesus would not have been any less a person. He would still be who he is to all of us who believe in him. Would making him human any less of son of God? Nope! I would be afraid to think that if I were the last remaining decendent of him that I had not fulfilled what was expected of me to accomplish in my life. I would really have to get busy. Fiction is fiction.

I am planning on seeing this movie also. I also read the book. I know it is a work of fiction. I am really looking forward to seeing it. I think all the hype about this movie has made it even more popular. I will let you all know Tuesday.

I have to agree about the book being fiction. That's what it is and has never tried to be anything else. If you don't want to see it then don't see it. People are taking it's content out of context. It is entertaining. It's creative. That's all that needs to be said.

Hi - My daughters had given me the Audio CD set over a year ago. I listen to it and did really enjoy it. I knew at the time it had a bunch of controversial things in it, but I took it for what it is - "Fiction". I am looking forward to seeing the movie and will check that out too.

Hi, I read the book and definitely want to see the movie. Yes, I agree it is definitely fiction, written to make money and he is doing it. I found it very entertaining. He is indeed stimulating lots of thought and discussion. In my life, I think these discussion have strengthen my faith rather than having any negative impact. My future son-in-law saw the movie Friday night, he is a film major, and loved it. He thought it was very well done.

| The book is an intricate thriller, at least that is the way I see it. I enjoyed the complications and escapes. I view this book the same way I would a James Bond movie or an espisode of Mission Impossible. It's just entertainment. I don't agree with half of the things I see on TV or the movies. This is no different. I don't expect to see a witch riding over my city smoke writing "Surrender Dorothy". Lighten up everybody, it's just a movie.

| Dennis, I feel the same as you. Nothing can shake my faith nor that of my family. But, having read the book, shearly for entertainmnet, and with all the press the movie has gotten, I am interested in the opinions of others.

My wife is a VERY devoted Catholic. She has read the book and it has been discussed at some length in her three Bible groups. Everyone KNOWS that it is pure fiction..... and was written to make money - and entertain. That being said.... it has created a lot of controversy and discussion. I believe that discussion is good. Some do not think that discussion is good. I feel that Christianity is very strong and has withstood the test of many years of attacks and attempts to bring it down. Discussions about the merits of the DaVinci Code do not even come remotely close to all that has happened in the 1,985 years of Christianity. And if you want to see the movie, you should go.... then feel free to discuss it with others... and/or here at this thread. Just my thoughts.... nothing more.
Oh, by the way, I would go see Tom Hanks with long, short, or no hair! He is that great of an actor! No offense intended.

I enjoyed the book (a lovely work of fiction as anyone who'd read it will know -- some very unrealistic escapes and stunts) and hope to enjoy the movie too although I must say Tom Hanks in long hair is not appealing.
Christianity, in my humble opinion, is strong enough to withstand one novel by one man. If the story doesn't appeal to you, I can appreciate that. To me, the religious element is simply a vehicle to tell an adventure/mystery story.
And I am well aware that many folks will disagree. As is their right. Gotta love the First Amendment.

| Elaine I just wanted to add the fact that this forum is for everyone and we are all entitled to our opinions. I know the book is supposed to be fiction, but unfortunately some people tend to believe such things. I didn't want to sound harsh, but I would be amiss as a Christian if I did not speak up. Each person is entitled his/her opinion according to their belief system, I do believe it attack's Christ's divinity. Keep Sparking buddies,it works.

| No...I won't be seeing it. It rips apart Christianity and Christ's divinity. Everyone have a great weekend.
