Hi Chouchi,

I downloaded my own photo (face) and tried on different styles. My man came in and giggled with me at the fun and then told me I had beautiful hair and on and on in compliments urging me not to change it. So not only was it fun but got some sweet affection from my man. It is a fun site and I will go back and play. Thanks again.

Hi NancyJac,
This is from someone who has nearly always had short hair! Its so much easier to look after and much cooler in the summer.
There are plenty of short hair styles that you can have and they don't make you look fat. When I first started putting on weight, I tried to grow my hair too in order to try and hide the extra weight. It did the opposite. When I went to a new hairdresser, he persuaded me to cut my haif short again, & he was right - it made me look slimmer! I suggest that you try one of those free sites that were mentioned below but most importantly that you find yourself a GOOD hairdresser. Its worth spending the extra money for the first major haircut by somebody who has got good recommendations. Having a good hair cut can make you feel so good - you go for it girl!!!

Hi NancyJac,

I am in the process of growing mine long again. This time I plan on having it shoulder length with lots of volume and layers. It will be lighter this way and the best of both worlds. I will be able to tie it back but also wear it long. My hair grows very quickly too I have to cut it every four weeks. Having the layers with volume will make your hair lighter. I used to have mine down to my waist but I wouldn't go that far again. It's too hot and heavy.

Here is another site virtual reality site, it also has hair do's of the famous. Check it out if you have time.

Good luck with what you decide to do. The good thing is that your hair grows fast if you don't like it that's what I always tell myself. lol

I've had it like that before. It grows so fast that I have to get it cut monthly to keep a shoulder lenght style. The thing is, I rarely wear my hair down because I can't stand the weight of it and it getting in my face, so I'm looking for short styles that would be both off the neck and off the face. I just can't see much point in dealing with the hassles of long hair if I am going to wear it pinned up all the time anyway.

If you have a little bit of a wave, how about a long-ish pageboy? You still could pull it into a ponytail if you want it out of the way, but it would be soft around your face when down. My hair is nearly straight, and I cut it shoulder length. If I want it to look terrific, I have to blow dry it around a big hairbrush to tip the ends under a bit. I also can pull the sides up with barretts, or use a hairband. So there's still some variety without the hassle I had when my hair was much longer. Just my 2 cents....

Everybody seems to have curly hair - how I envy you guys. My hair is ram-rod straight. I use to have it permed, but then I looked like a poodle. If my straight hair was short I would always look like I just stepped out of the shower - hair plastered to my head like a helmet. I have to be able to put it up or I would go insane.

I am amazed--we all have long hair--mine is actually almost the longest it has ever been right now. And I even color it!
I, too have cut it and then been very unhappy until it grows back out, so far i haven't had that urge for about 10 years now!!! There are so many excellent products to take care of it now too.
I trim it regularly, and it seems to grow back pretty fast.
I use lots of clips, big and small, and pull it up when it's too warm or i'm doing something that it is in the way for.
As long as it is--it is still curly--I have naturally curly hair and it's another reason, I don't like it short. My joke when I used to work outside a lot in the rain, was that I didn't melt, I curled!!!

hello Nancy,

It does sound like you have you have thought this out. Healthy hair really does look the best, even above long.
Below is a free site that walks you through your face shape etc and gives choices for color and some attractive styles....made me think of having a change.

I too have long hair. I've tried it short a few times and hated it. I like to be able to wear it up. I use some hair products from Paul Mitchell for curly hair. Some ladies look great with short hair. Halle Berry is gorgeous and so was Princess Di.

Hi Nancy - I also have long hair and I've had it cut over the years and ususally hated it. Long hair is an advantage, there are a lot of ways you can wear it. If your hair is damaged they have about 1,000 products that can help. Step into any beauty salon and I'm sure they could match you to the right product. With short hair you can't pull it back and your pretty much stuck with one look. I say...don't so it!!!

Hi Rebcca,

The primary reason I want to cut it short is because I almost always wear it up anyway. Also, my hair is very dry and got even dryer and more brittle after I contracted Hashimoto's Thyroiditis a couple of years ago. I also spend a lot of time outdoors and with the sun and wind and dryness, the color fades at the ends, the ends splits, and it always gets to be a tangled mess.

I had done a google search, but the only sites I found that let you "try on" hair styles on your photo are pay sites. Do you know of any that are free?

I have long hair too. Why do you want to cut yours? If you are just wanting a change why not try a french braid or up-do? There have been times I cut my hair to chin length and while it had a nice swing it seemed I was always waiting for it to grow again.
If you google 'try a hairstyle' you will find lots of 'sites where you can upload your photo and see what you look like in various hairstyles.

I'm 58 and have worn my hair long most of my life. I'm thinking of getting it cut short but I'm concerned about how it would look. I have a very slight natural wave but mostly it is straight, thick, and very dry. I'd rather not have to perm it and I hate bangs or anything that droops across my forehead. I want something simple that is basically wash and wear but that won't make my face look fatter or make me look masculine. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
