Thank you for your responses. Yes, I have both my uterus and ovaries. It is just that my perimenopausal symptoms have increased. My understanding is the average age for menopause is 52. I am 51. With the hormonal imbalance, there are times I think I'm crazy!

I have neither an uterus or ovaries. I haven't since I was in my late 20's. I've been on Premarin since.

Premerin is an estrogen; it does not contail progesen (or whatever that is called); generally that is prescribed if you do not have a uterus. I was put on that at first but it did not help me at all. Do you have a uterus?

Is Premerin a birth control pill or hormonal replacement? Unfortunately, I started a new topic on the message board which I didn't want to do. I'm new to this stuff. I have the basic symptoms for perimenopause which has been going on for about 5 years but has gotten worse lately. My doctor is sending me to a gyn that specializes in menopausal management. Hopefully, he can help.

Sorry, don't know anything about Woman-to-Woman, however, want to share my story - I found a compounding pharmacy with a pharmacist knowledgeable about "bioidentical harmone replacement" and got a saliva test kit from her. I sent the test to the lab, the results were then sent back to the pharmacist who then referred me to a doctor that is also knowledgeable (this particular pharmacist teaches the docs in my area about "bioidentical harmone replacement"), he then prescribed what I needed and she compounded the prescription a cream and I needed DHEA. She made the prescription based on what MY BODY needed, not like anyone else's but only what the saliva test reflected that I needed. So far it's been great it's been 2 years now and there's no side effects because I am not taking a drug. Hope this help you gals. Oh, I read Suzanne Summers's book called "The Sexy years" and learned all about this in the book. Good luck!

They have a web site; it is called womantowoman.com and I believe it is all supplements; I have taken the online test for menopause with them and it showed that I was in the hight end of the menopause line (something like that) but they are kind of expensive (for me anyway); so as of now I have not tried them. It does sound interesting though and if this estratest does not work then I am just going to give in and try them. You ought to check it out though, I think it said they have been in business for about 20 years or so.

Sorry I am not much help but again the site is: womantowoman.com

Hello. I am 38 and I truly did not think I would be going through this so early in life; but here I am, I have tried Premarin (did not work; plus grossed me out); Estrace (Worked for some things) and now my dr. has changed my prescription to Estratest (apparently my testosterone showed up as being low also) if this one does not work I am going to contact Woman to Woman and start their program, has anyone else tried it and did it work or not? My main problems are still hot flashes and sleeplessness. Which I have taken stuff for the sleeplessness and it will work for a time and then suddenly stop working, which is a real bummer.

I just turned 50 and have been going through perimenopause for about 7 years now. I have tried everything but nothing works for long. I am and have always taken a calcium/magnesium supplement, two homeopathic sprays that have helped tremendously with the anxiety and nausea during this time, but I still need something for the mild hots and irritability I get. The weight thing is just horrendous. I never had a problem with my weight until about a year ago. That's why I'm here. But it is verrrrrry hard to get it off, no matter what I do.

Well, the supplements did not work for me either so I am now on Estrace; I am praying this will work. I have read that sometimes you have to try different things until you find what works for each person, but this is really not much fun.

I've taken Premarin for years. I do not have any side effects from it but do think that it probably added to my weight and also my difficulty in getting it off. However, for me, I don't like the effects when I am not on it.

My mother took premarin for a year and she said that she gained about 25 pounds it seemed like within about a month or two. I started taking it when I went into menopause, and I did not like how it made me feel but I did not gain weight mainly because it made me literally sick at times another problem I had is that I cannot sleep every other day, I do not know if it caused that or not but I have stopped taking it and am taking calcium and magnesium, plus soy isovlavones which someone told me helps with hot flashes. Most people that I know who have taken premarin did gain weight from it.

I take an herbal supplement with soy and black cohosh in it and a calcium supplement- cal/mag/zinc

took premarin for several years but hated the side effects and the cost, so studied what I could do about it.

Don't know if it would work for everyone but I feel much better now .

I didn't have a weight problem until I started taking Premrin. Now that 50 is getting closer I find myself 25 lbs over weight. Has anyone else had this problem. Is there an alternative other then hotflashes and bone loss?
