Really?! Wow! I didn't realize I had lost that much since we started the challenge. School is fixing to start so I've got to go back to work. I've been trying really hard to lose as much as I can beforehand, cause it's gonna be tricky working in my exercise after next week.

Ok. these are my measurements that I keep logged in and according to my record since I joined on June 20,
Lost no weight and lost 10.5 inches...go figure..
I'm starting a 12 week challenge on 8/1 and hope to lose at least 20lbs before my trip....

Hi Beth, just checking in to let you know I have lost 1.5lbs and that's with no last week..My cold won't leave me alone and today is hubby pre-op testing..He had some last week, today and tomorrow the last one....Operating on Tuesday Aug.2...Will see the surgeon this afternoon to get all the particular...Do you want measurements too..I'll do them later.. I just having been into this since I have had this head cold..Coughing keep me up at night and I sleep during the day..I'm all screwed up..Worrying about hubby.. this is his 4th major surgery in 4 yrs.....He's had 10 since 1999.....and knock on wood I have never had any.....
I think him and my oldest daughter are in competition who can have the most surguries she has had 10 also and she is only 41....started when she was 16 when they removed a 5lb tumor from her..she made medical history at the hospital she was in.....
Well let me know about measurements...I can do them tonight....Have a great SP day, your Carole

That's pretty cool! Austin is kind of a "fer piece" from where I am. LOL That's a beautiful part of Texas, but a little too crowded for me. I live in a small (very small) town not too far from Ft. Worth.

OK Guys, here goes...
Beth lost 1/2 pound and 1 1.2 inches
Carole remained the same (dratted plateau!!)
Earlene lost 1.4 pounds and 2.75 inches
total for the week 1.9 pounds and 4.25 inches
cumulative total 8.4 pounds and 8.9 inches!!!! Way to go!
After next week's post, I'll do cumulative total for individuals, too.

Okay Beth here it is..I was going to wait till tomorrow but maybe next week will be better..I'll make it easy for you this week..I lost ZERO!! NOTHING!! NADA!!!NOPE not a lb. or an inch.. Is this that week we level out and droll over other members weight lost..I guess it is ..When you think you have done all the right things and you get no really sucks......It will be less calories, more exercising and no smokes..Let's see what next week brings..
Congrats on your 1/5...you did better then me....Now that was easy but so.
So tonight that glass of wine that I have not had for over a month now I will have tonight and start again tomorrow..I needed a change and did what you did...Change my image..I needed a reminder after that weigh in..

Thanks for your input about the weed-eating. I've tried entering it in the "add cardio" section - nothings there. I posted the question on the message boards, but haven't gotten a reply yet. Oh well- no big deal.

How's everything going? Good I hope. I gained a pound today (don't know why), so I measured my waist and I've lost since I posted - that made me feel better! I mean - that's what it's all about isn't it?

Have you tried entering it in the "add cardio" section? If nothing else, it's walking and that counts for something, right? I just mowed my yard - it's a power mower, but the drive cable is broken so I've got to PUSH. Mowing, fortunately is included in the cardio...

Waist:38....Hips:44...L. Arm: 14.5 Okay then for today; Weight: 183.5....Waist: 37.....Hips: 43....L. Arm13.5...
I think I'm correct 1.5 lbs. & 3.0 " lost

I would of never thought since I gained 3 over the holiday ...it must be the water...or the walking & sweating...Good for us especially us non-smokers that just stopped......

I seem to be tighting up that flab more then losing weight...

Good morning Beth! I'm so excited - since I got back from my Mom's the pounds just seem to be melting off. It feels so good after being in that slump for 2 weeks. I've cut back some on my calories and have been doing Richard Simmons. His are not quite as intense as Jane Fonda, but lasts longer. Whatever it is, it seems to be working!

My measurements are:

waist 35.5
hips 39
arm 12

We are definitely on our way!

Good morning everyone - and a lovely morning it is here in North Carolina. Just got back from my walk and enjoying a cup of coffe while I post.

That's 1 1/2 pounds and 1/2 an inch! We're on our way!

Hello everyone! The boards have been busy since I've been gone. My Mom had knee surgery and I went to stay with her for a few days. She doesn't have a computer so I couldn't check out what's been going on. She's doing great and although I enjoyed being with her, it was sure good to be home!

Sorry I missed out on the beginning of the challenge. I finally got past my plateau!
Was very excited when I got on the scales and had lost 3.8 lbs!!! I guess I just needed a change of pace!

OK Everyone - listen up!
Carole (DIETKRAZED) and I have come up with a challenge for the group. We think we can lose 10 pounds and 2 inches by September 3. Are you with us?
Weigh-in and measurements will be Sunday with posting by Monday. We'll use waist, hip and upper arm measurements. Tickers will be required - it'll save time posting our weight. Carole and I will take turns each week posting everyone's progress. Let us know soon so we can list everyone who is going to participate. Start date July 2.

But not any weight training yet, but he was really happy, I had lost 10 lbs. since the last time he had saw me, and he wanted to know what i have been doing, and I told him about sparkpeople, and he said good. It will probably be really funny when I start the tapes, and my grandsons want to be here when I do them the first time. I hope they don't bring a camera, or I could end up on t.v. Ha,ha. I'm having a great time with mine - tried one I'd never done last evening - "DANCE YOUR PANTS OFF!" - it like to wore me out! I'm a big klutz, too. so I just stumble along until I can remember the moves...
I bought the dress I'm going to wear to my HS reunion in a thrift store for $4! I'll try to get a photo so I can post it.

Hi earlene, I'm going to start my Richard Simmons tomorrow. I really like sweating to the oldies, and I'll try it first. I don't know if my legs are strong enough to do the whole tape, but I'll do all I can do, then do cool down. It should be interesting, and funny. I'll have to let you know what happens. I bet you felt better you got done with your Jane Fonda tape. I've never tried one of her tapes, but I've heard they are good. I'm not losing much weight or inches either, but we are going to get there. We are all winners, and I've got a special outfit picked out for my birthday in August, it's a size 14 and really cool. That's a great idea about the Goodwill clothes. So far, I haven't lost enough to have to buy clothes (even though some are a little baggy). I have enough that I grew out of to last me for a while! (haha)

I got my Jane Fonda tapes this weekend and tried one out today. I did more stumbling over myself than exercise. But it's a fun one - a lot of dance moves. I finally won the bid on some Richard Simmons too - haven't got them yet. I'm gonna really be able to "mix it up" when I get them!

Didn't lose much weight or inches this last week. Oh well - at least I didn't gain. I'm looking forward to a better week!

That's a good plan you've got there Martha. I try to do the same thing and am always amazed by what He can do!

hi Beth, Earlene And Julia, and welcome Vicki, Sorry I was off a while, we have been having storms, power outages,even the phones were out last night. We are looking forward to a good week-end. I'm so glad to see someone else likes Richard Simmons Tapes. I had most of them, and lost most of them in moves also. But I started finding them at Goodwill, so Earlene you might want to check one close to you. That's also where I get my clothes while I'm losing weight. That way I can have new clothes, and give them away when i"m done with them. Happy Birthday Earlene, and many more. I will be 64 in August, and still act like I'm 16. Ha Ha. IT gets easier being by yourself, My husband died in 1979,and I had 2 teenagers to raise by myself, and I didn't think I could do it either, but it gets easier all the time. I found if I trust everything to God, and take one day at a time, you can get through anything, so hang on Vicki, and may god bless each one of you, and we are going to make this time, because we have each other and God to help us. On your home page near the top right hit the "CHANGE MY DIET GOALS" button and follow all the steps and it will calulate it for you.
I'm 5'10" and it says my ideal wgt should be 142 so I set that as my goal, but Lord, I can't remember when I last weighed that little! I weighed in the 170's when I was in 7th grade! We'll see what happens - I'll be happy with 155 - 160 I think...
I just don't know about the sodium, sometimes it just happens that you don't lose for week or two - those dreaded plateaus - stick with it - you'll lose for sure next week!

The only place I'm tracking my sodium is on my sp nutrition tracker. But I'm only eating fresh or frozen veggies, very rarely do I eat canned anything anymore. I will say though that I did eat a grilled chicken sandwich from Sonic yesterday - no fries, etc. I ate fresh brocolli and carrots with light raspberry vinaigrette dressing with it. I got the calorie/nutrition count from sp. I didn't eat any more total calories than usual. I'm taking in about 1200 calories a day. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less, but never as many as 1300. Do you think the sandwich could have more sodium than the tracker said?

By the way - thanks for visiting my sparkpage! I am about 5'5". When I set my goal weight I was just shooting in the dark. I figured if I could get to 150, I would see if I wanted (or needed) to lose some more. How do you figure how much you should weigh?

Are you tracking your sodium intake? Once I added it to my Nutrition Tracker it was easy to see where I was going wrong. salt in prepackaged, canned and convenience foods is just outrageous! See how quickly it adds up!

Hello all. Feeling a bit discouraged today - I gained .6 lbs. I don't understand. I stay on the low (very low) side of my calorie limit, drink tons of water and am doing my exercises every day. I've even tried changing my exercises. But still have been on the weight roller coaster all week - up one day down the next. I weigh .2 lbs more than I did at the beginning of the week.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!!

Welcome Vicki! I am pretty new to the group too, but everyone here is so nice and supportive! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and good luck with your weight loss!

Don't be scared about being on your own. You'll be just fine. I've been on my own for about 2 years (if you don't count the 5 that my son was still at home). I love the independence. It's very satisfying knowing that you can make it on your own!

Beth - thank you for the birthday wish! It was a good day. And congrats on your 2 pounds. Hope I can do as well on Saturday.

Hi, I would love to join your group. I am 54 and single after 33 yrs of marriage, I have a 31 yr old son and 31 yr old daughter, a wonderful daughter in law and a beautiful 6 month old grandaughter. I put on a lot of weight during a 5 yr struggle to save marriage, now trying to lose it. Am looking forward to being on my own for the first time in my life(though a little scared too)

Jane Fonda, Richard Simmons - what difference does it make? Absolutely none! As long as we're working out and getting the exercises we need to reach our goals. Beth - I just bought some Jane Fonda workout tapes over ebay. I used to do the step aerobic one all the time. But just like you, they got lost along the way. I am anxiously awaiting their arrival. I saw some of the Richard Simmons tapes and thought about getting them - they always looked like fun. But I opted for getting something I was familiar with.

Hello Martha, Beth and Julia! Thought I'd check in and see how everyone was doing. Sounds like ya'll are doing great. I'm doing fine. I had my 50th birthday yesterday. It was a good day. I've lost 13 pounds now - drinking my water, keeping my calories down and doing my exercises. My weight loss has kind of slowed down some. I guess that's to be expected, but it sure is annoying - I am working so hard to get it off!

Martha~~ I never did make it to CURVES because I won an auction on Ebay for some of my old favorite Richard Simmons tapes! I had a few of them, but they got lost in the move, so now I can enjoy more cardio and have fun with the strength exercises, too. I am psyched! I was really beginning to hate the days when I was scheduled for the strength training. Problem solved! Watch out world! Us SPARKPEOPLE are taking over!

Mom is home from the hospital, and seems to be doing real well - that's a load off my mind.
Didn't mark any loss this week, but I can "feel" the difference in my body, so it's OK. Bet I'll show a loss next week! (Heehee) I've got an appointment to do a tour of CURVES tomorrow morning. We'll see how it turns out... I'm still trying to make up my mind if it's really necessary.

Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a great day and are sticking with the program.
My AC has been kaput since yesterday morning, The motor in the inside unit is burnt out, but I soldiered on and did my strength exercises and I'm so sweaty! Did my walking this morning - it was cooler, but still awfully humid... Hopefully the guy will have a new motor tomorrow morning... Fans aren't doing much but stirring the hot air around.

Hi Everybody, Guess what? I got my water in today, Got all of my exercise in this week, except the weights. Now I pray I'll do as good this next week. Hope all you did well this week. Thanks for your prayers and help, I'll make sure Nicholas sees another doctor, we live in Ohio, and my daughter knows of a doctor in Toledo thats a specialist. I still have problems getting up early in the morning, because I'm a night person. On top of that I have fibromyalgia, and have trouble getting started in the morning, I'm hoping after I lose some weight, it will get easier. How did you get the pretty bottoms, with your weight on them? That is so neat. Martha

It's a beautiful day and I'm doing just great. Got up early and got my walking done before 7:00 AM to beat the heat. Already had 6 cups of water and I'm getting ready to go fix my lunch. I'm determined to get fit and healthy and stay that way! Today is Day 42 of no smoking.
