hi all...dont know who is left on here...but just wanted to share this with you all. i received this in my email this morning, and it is scary to me, cause i have had in the past few days, alot of these symtoms. PLEASE READ!!!!
Ovarian Cancer Whispers - so listen... Watch for Pelvic or abdominal pain or discomfort; vague but persistent gastrointestinal upsets such as gas, nausea, and indigestion; frequency and / or urgency of urination in the absence of an infection; unexplained weight gain or weight loss; pelvic and / or abdominal swelling, bloating and / or feeling of fullness; ongoing unusual fatigue; or unexplained changes in bowel habits. If symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks, ask your doctor for a combination pelvic / rectal exam, CA-125 blood test, and transvaginal ultrasound. A Pap Test WILL NOT detect ovarian cancer
take care all karen

hi kali. hope you are feeling better. i wish i had skinny jeans i could fit into!! but that is ok, cause i know i am my own worst enemy. about the cards: (thank you cards) what i did was, print out mailing labels, on our computer, so she wouldnt have to write almost two hundred addresses.just a lot faster that way. it went pretty fast too. now we are just waiting for the photographers pic's CANT WAIT!!!! there is one picture that a friend of ours took, at the ceremony, when dh was "walking her down the aisle" that i want to scan onto the puter, and then download to my spark page...also going to get it blown up, it is so beautiful. i think it is a very striking picture. hmmmm...i have the time now, maybe i will try to do it, while hubby is out bow hunting! take care and i hope you are feeling better karen
KALINDRIA 10/26/06 11:22 P
Wow, you helped with Thank You cards? My daughters did their own. Thank goodness!
I've been sick for three days and still not feeling up to par. Not eating (no point) and little exercise. And the scale needs new batteries so who knows what my weight is. Actually my skinny jeans are still loose so things can't be too bad.
Hang in there!
kali
KAREN1953 10/24/06 4:53 A
hi kali! i am here, but pretty busy. we spent sunday getting the thank you cards ready to be mailed. now we are checking out preservation companies. boy, i just cant loose weight! i was so darned good last week, all for naught! not one darned pound gone!! ok, gotta go, have a great day karen
KALINDRIA 10/23/06 11:47 P
Is anybody left here?
KALINDRIA 10/18/06 11:26 P
Life is going to be really busy for a while. We have a rescue dog in our house. She's a curly-coated retriever like my other dogs and she's eventually going to go back to her breeder who lives a thousand miles away. She's not used to other dogs and my boys really want to play and be friends but they're pushy. She's intimidated by them. Poor thing.
And then in November, it's NaNoWriMo which is National Novel Writing Month where people from all over the world get together to write a 50K word novel in 30 days. Check it out or sign up at www.nanonwrimo.org. Not only am I writing another novel this year, but I'm the Municipal Liaison for my area of the state.
And we're still trying to sell our house which means lots of cleaning and maintenance - what a pain!
So I may not be around a lot... but I still love and care about you all.

Karen I have written a new topic, Mother of the Bride after the wedding, I hope that we can all talk on this, I sent notice to Carol she is game for it also, but she is getting a new computer and has to wait to get things down loaded. Karen you lose as neither of us could see any butt. Blessings, Diana
KALINDRIA 10/11/06 9:08 P
Karen -- You look radiant -- almost as radiant as the blushing bride! You're so beautiful and your face looks thinner as well. I didn't see any photos of your butt, so I can't say but I know we're usually our own worst critics. I love your outfit. Brown definitely seems to be this Fall's color! And it looks great on you! And your hubby is a cutie too.
Be happy -- you did yourself proud.

whew! hi ladies...yep, it is all over! the wedding couldnt have been any better, for what we planned. they were married outdoors, at a county park, and the weather was perfect! we really lucked out. but we(hubby and i) are totally exhausted. we had gift opening at their "lounge" in their apartment complex today, and as soon as they were done opening them, we "hightailed it" out of there, to go home. we had been staying at the hotel where the reception was, since thursday, so we really really really wanted to get home. dh has been asleep in his chair since 5:30pm. i hate to have to wake him up, to go to bed! i put some pics on my page, but those are from our camera, and since i didnt want to babysit it all nite, or at the ceremony, there are not alot yet, till we get some from other people. gosh, at the ceremony, there were so many people wandering around the gardens trying to get close to take pics...i felt like they were the "paparazi's" and sarah and jeff were celebs! so i should be able to get some more pictures. oh i am so tired, cant hardly type! just wanted to stop in and say HI!!!! tomorrow starts "back on the band wagon" or should i say "spark wagon"!! i felt like such a big fat pig, i am sick of myself. i am serious now about loosing this darn weight. have a nice evening karen
102654 10/8/06 6:36 P
Kali,Jackie,Karen and all, Hi, hope this finds everyone doing well. Looks like I need to look at some photos!! So I am glad that things went well for the wedding. Jackie yours is coming closer and closer. Blessings to all, Diana
KALINDRIA 10/8/06 12:07 P
Thanks, Jackie. Glad you liked the photos. Can't wait to see more of yours!
KALINDRIA 10/8/06 1:07 A
Jackie -- Good to hear from you! Sounds like things are moving along well for your daughter's wedding. So exciting, isn't it?
Yes, Rachel's wedding went beautifully and we all had a ton of fun. Although I'm not at my target weight yet, I'm well on my way and a lot of people noticed and made very positive comments. Very good for my ego. And I'm much happier with the photos of me from this wedding although I know if the weddings were next year, I'd really have loved the pictures of me. Oh well.
Can't wait to hear how the other weddings are and see some fabulous photos! Aren't weddings wonderful? New beginnings, all that love and positive energy? Makes me smile just thinking about it!
Keep plugging away at those goals, ladies. It takes effort but it's worth it.

Good for you losing 2 lbs. Jackie, I can only imagine how things are for you, well at least you have many things to look forward to, at this point you are really getting exited!!!!, Well the insurance finally OK'd my insulin pump, it should be arriving on Tues. This diabetes thing always seems to happen around my Birthday, I hope this one brings my better luck than the last milestones [diabetes]. Well I just finished my homework for college, my husband has not been well, he had chest pain yesterday morning, and pain in his arm, well I took him immediatly to the doctor, as I know what this can mean. He had a EKG and a chest XRay, in about 4 hours he will be having a stress test. He had a emotional melt down this morning. I was really scarred. He did finally get to work and worked a full shift. [8 hours] they are sending him to baltimore Mar. on Tues, but he isn't going alone, I am thankful for that. My dad is in the hospital also, he has 3 fractures in his pelvis, and is working on getting rid of pneumonia. So I have been stressing lately. I bet it will be nice to go with your daughter, to get her dress. [In the states you have to order your dress 7 months ahead] It will be great to have your husband home again, Better go, it was nice to chat with you. Blessings, Diana

Kali - I've just popped in to see y our pictures - you look absulutely amazing!! And of course the bride was stunning - in fact both your daughters look lovely and I loved the bridesmaid's dresses! Jackie
RAZAYOTAIR 10/6/06 12:25 A
Diana, Kali and Karen - I am so sorry that I havent been around lately - lots of reasons, one of which is that my computer works so slowly that I just loose patience with it. I just thought I'd pop in and see how y ou are all doing - Kali you must have had your wedding by now, and Karen - isn't your wedding about now? I haven't had time yet to read thru all your postings. How are you Diana? I am really annoyed with myself that I haven't been keeping in touch and its now going to be even harder as my daughter (the bride) has arrived from England. Yesterday we went to a new bridal salon to see if she liked the place better than the one where she has a dress ordered and her sister went to in June. She did - and of course its more expenseive there! But she has chosen a beautiful dress. In the original salon there can be up to 5 brides at one time - here there is only one - and so the treatment is definitly better. Now I have to cancel the original place - I'm not looking forward to that and will loose my deposit - more money gone!
My husband will be arriving here on the 20th, my sister in law and hubby (from LA) will arrive on the 21st and will be staying 10 days. The English part of the family (mother, brother and his wife plus their 4 children) will be arriving the day before the wedding (26 Oct). I have managed to loose one kilo (just over 2 pounds) in all since the June wedding. I had hoped to loose so much more, but after my hubby went to Nigeria and during the war, I just couldn't get it together and put on weight.
Diana, I'm just reading thru y our last message - what is happening with your husband? I haven't forgotten about you and really do think of you a lot!
Anyway ladies, I have to get going - I have to cook dinner for this evening now, as I am going out all day with both my daughters (what joy!). We are going to take my dress for its final fitting plus both my "English" daughter and myself need to get new glasses - and for me, that is like taking out a mortgage!! Later on we have to go up North to pick up my son in law and bring him here for the weekend too!
Love to you all, Jackie
102654 10/5/06 11:48 P
Kali, and Karen, just wanted to touch base with you. Hope this finds everyone doing well. Hubby had like a major break down today, this was very scarry. Hope this gets taken care off. He has his stress test tommorrow. Talk to you all later. Blessings, Diana
102654 10/4/06 10:54 P
Karen, Good for you that you have been a quiter. I know this is hard. Neither of my sisters will try to quite, the baby sister, can help her kids not to smoke if she quits, my other sisters kids smoke like chimneys. Neither of my kids smoke thak the good lord. I am very proud of you for quitting, it is the best thing you can do for yourself. I bet things are really getting hectic now. Remember try to relax enough to enjoy the moments. Are you having a gift opening the day after the wedding? My daughter and husband left from the reception to their honeymoon, so we did gifts the following week. I probably should have made dinner or something, but was really wiped out, I think it was that I did so much for the wedding, and I also was getting 4-h kids ready for the fair. Better go. Blessings to you, Diana Kali, Hi how are you, exhausted I bet. I hope that you are trying to relax. Did you take lots of pictures? Later, Blessings, Diana
KAREN1953 10/4/06 7:04 A
howdy all! oh my...the topics...lets see if i can remember them all........... i will still be here till tomorrow, then we check into the motel, and all the craziness starts. today is for baking things for the gift opening, last minute shopping, and lets see...what did i forget? oh yeah, dd is coming over to do the "storyboards"...pics of the both of them thru the years. on the emphyzema....i smoked for 30 years, quit oh my god...6years ago..(HELLO FAT!!!..that is how i got so fat...) was diagnosed two years ago with early emphyzema, after being hospitalized with pneumonia. i took it hard at the time, but have gotten used to it, and in fact before i was told by the doc that i had it, i kinda knew something was up, cause i would try running on the treadmill at the fitness center, and after a few seconds, my lungs would get "junky" is the only word i can find to use for it. the doc was surprised i took it so hard, he was happy for the fact that i had quit smoking already, so according to him, it should not progress for a very long time(fingers crossed). except for not being able to run along distance or time, i feel no difference. but it is ALWAYS in the back of my mind. so that is one of my main reasons for trying to eat good food, and always work out, excusing this week, just cant fit it in! i know about trying to get people to quit....a close friend who i work with, a man about 31 years old, quit when i was in the hospital---scared the s--- out of him, to see me so sick, but a year later he went back to it....i was really upset, but kept my mouth shut, cause i remember all the times over the years that i tried and failed at quitting. ok, better go do wash, dishes and more baking for the gift opening! have a great day karen
102654 10/4/06 12:47 A
Kali, Hi, yes my dad was a smoker, he used to smoke cigarettes, then a pipe and cigars, but he quit 20 years ago. Now he knows what has bothered me all these years, I am very allergic to smoke. I never tried the stuff. I am the oldest of 4 girls, I never smoked then I have a sister 4 years younger than I, and she smokes even though the doctor told her she had the beginings of emphysema, [sp] she just keeps puffing away, she dosen't smoke in my parents house. then I have a sister that has the same temperment as myself, she never tried it either. Then the baby, well she hated that my dad smoked when she was little but smokes like a smoke house, she is what I call a clean smoker. You can't tell that she smokes for some reason she never stinks like smoke. I have told both of them that they see what is happining to dad if you think that it won't get you it will, as we have emphysema all over the place in our family. well you can't tell them they have to decide that they are worth quitting. I don't think that I will be able to stand it seeing my sisters die right in front of me. Well better get to bed I have a long day ahead of me. Blessings, Diana
KALINDRIA 10/4/06 12:26 A
The emphysema definitely complicates the pneumonia and makes ANY lung disease way more serious. Was Dad a smoker? I'm so sorry to hear about the emphysema. Hopefully they'll take care of the pneumonia soon though. It's so scary not to be able to breathe....
102654 10/3/06 9:47 P
Hi Kali, Well the worst part about my dad is that he has emphesema. I don't know about today my daughter went to see him and my sister and her girls. My daughter said he looked better. I am still worried about the pneumonia. I will ditto the ramantic. I am hopeless about a lot of things.lol Blessings, Diana
KALINDRIA 10/3/06 7:24 P
Diana, it's good to hear your Dad's been transferred to a quality facility. Sometimes that's tough to get accomplished. Pneumonia stinks. It's so exhausting when you can't breathe properly. I've been there. I feel for your Dad! I hope he's on the mend soon!
I don't know if Karen will even see this until she comes back, but I am so excited for her. I know how much fun I had and am sure she'll be having a grand old time too! Weddings are so much fun. I love seeing everyone all dressed up and smiling. And there's the whole promise of the future and the flowers... OK, I'm a hopeless romantic, but I'm entitled!
Have fun, Karen! We're thinking of you!
kali
102654 10/2/06 10:52 P
Karen and Kali, Hi, hope this finds you both well. Karen your down to the wire. Like Kali said don't jepordize your losses up to now, you can eat with everyone and still stay legal. Try, we know that you can do it. I am really excited for everyone. It brings back good memories from last year. I didn't say the diet thing to make you mad as I am your friend. You are doing sooooo terrific!!! Sounds great that your sister found a bargin, sometimes those are hard to do. Well if you can't stay legal, get back on the wagon on Monday. You will be fine. Remember to take pictures and enjoy this week and the wedding. I know it is going to be beautiful. Blessings, Diana p.s. My dad was transfered to the Southwest rehab center, state of the art facility all new. We still think that he has pnuemonia.Talk to you later.
KALINDRIA 10/2/06 4:55 P
Karen! I'm so excited for you! You're going to have so much fun.
And just because it's the wedding and rehearsal dinner you can still be a little bit good. I stayed within my calories the whole week I was gone... and if I can do it ANYone can! Seriously, you've worked really hard to get where you are; don't jeopardize it for a few days.
Glad your sister got a nice dress at a good price - that can be a real challenge. I bet you guys will all look stunning and don't forget, we want to see pictures!!
Diana - Your Dad must be tired of being sick. And that's hard on you too. Please know that I'm thinking of you and your family and hoping things improve soon!

morning ladies! have started my week off for the wedding! alot of last minute items to finish up. last nite and this morning was printing out the programs, just need to fold them. then i have to run to town, for last minute shopping. my sister FINALLY bought her dress last friday...from the Dress Barn. it is nice, and she got a good price for it too. so she is happy. my diet is totally shot. especially after the weekend. but i will behave this week, till friday, when we have the rehearsal dinner. diana: i am praying for you, everyday. hang in there. i feel there is nothing else i can say, except, you are something VERY special! take care all, and have a great monday karen

Hi, I know the pains of trying to pay for everything, we are still paying from a year ago. Lately our bills have been high but they are medical bills about 10,000. Over what the insurance will pay. Kali, someday your daughter and son in law will be able to laugh about the storm but right now I don't think anyone thinks it is funny, I just feel bad that happened to all of you. Went to see my dad he was sitting up in bed butvery tired we didn't stay long. They still haven't figured out what kind of staff infection, and I guess the Dr. today questioned if he had pnuemonia, well he just was in the hospital 2 weeks ago with pnuemonia. I have checked out a place that has full care and a physical therapy a rehab center that gets a patient ready to do for themselves. You know how the hospital stays are now 3 day stays are outpatient and full stays are about 3 days. Well talk to you later, Blessings, Diana
KALINDRIA 9/30/06 12:58 P
Paying... it's not fun, is it? I tried to have everything paid off way ahead of time and then, because of the huge snowstorm, I got several refund checks and one lady (the one who drove the horse & carriage the bride was supposed to arrive in and depart afterwards in) just tore up the check. The bride really wanted that carriage ride... sigh.
How's it going, Diana?
kali
KAREN1953 9/30/06 7:34 A
diana, all i can say is "CHIN UP!" again, i am so sorry for all that you are going thru. god is surely testing you! i mentioned the sweetheart table to my dd..but we had to get off the phone, so i dont know what her reaction was. i think it might be too late to change it now???? i dont know, we are meeting tues evening with the wedding coordinator, so i will see. of course i dont know what dd wants yet... it is getting closer.............. now is the time that everyone (vendors) are coming to me with their palms up!!! it was fun having the extra money....well there it goes! but on the lighter side, we are so looking forward to the "big event" the weather channel.com is saying rain thurs, friday and sunday, but saturday is supposed to be cloudy. we are holding our breaths, since the ceremony is outdoors! take care and have a great saturday karen
KALINDRIA 9/29/06 11:35 P
Diana, you have so many sorrows in your life... I pray that your Dad and your hubby heal quickly and completely. How tough for you to have to deal with two important men in your life being out of commission. Be strong and know that this, too, shall pass.
The sweetheart tables are nice and really put the focus on the newlyweds which is cool. It's easy to get lovely photos and the rest of the bridal party liked being able to sit with their own honeys.
Hang in there, Diana!
kali
102654 9/29/06 2:32 A
Kali and Karen, Hello, sorry I haven't posted as much but my dad is in the hospital with a broken pelvis and staff infection. This was after he was sent home Tuesday morning. I am a little upset. My husband is still not well the doc today said that he was having surgery and would be out of commision for a while, so if this continues then I need to take him for a second oppinion as 2 doctors said me dad didn't have a break. Something is causing this problems that hubby is having, I hope thingsstart turning around, better go as I need to try and be up in a few hours, as the specialist are going to see my dad, I also have a exam tommorrow morning. p.s. the heart tables sound lovely. We used a bottle of special wine [champain] from Italy. This made it extra special.Blessings to both of you. Diana
KALINDRIA 9/28/06 11:47 P
Karen -- I hear that sweetheart tables for just the bride and goorm are all the rage -- both my daughter's had one of those. It allows the couple some alone time and lets the bridal party sit with their spouses or significant others.
Maybe you can convince your bride and groom to have one and save some money on the champagne? Or do what I did for the March wedding - but the champagne at Beverages & More (I did it online). It was good stuff and only cost about $3.49 a bottle! I just checked and they have bottles as low as $1.99 right now!
I don't drink a lot, but I did have a few drinks at both weddings. Not enough to get tipsy, but just to celebrate! It's a special day!!
Good luck!
kali
KAREN1953 9/28/06 7:27 A
good morning ladies. wow...pretty cold here this morning...39 degrees. still dont have the furnace on...it is 66 in the house, and last year, trying to save bucks, set thermostat at 65. long range weather forcast shows partly cloudy for the day of the wedding (oct 7) we are holding our breaths! found out last nite that we are paying for champagne for the head table. I WANT SOME TOO!! i think i will need it by then! actually i am refraining from drinking anything alchohlic till when the dancing starts...probably 8'ish. drinking puts me to sleep, and i really dont want to go take a nap half way thru the festivites! ok, better go get some points, then grocery shop before work! by the way kali: my close friend who is doing the flowers for the wedding is in san diego this week..her son, who is in the navy, was transferred there from japan..cindy (my friend) has not seen her son in years, he has been in japan so long. last year he got married to a local girl in japan, and they had a son...so cindy was dying to see the grandbaby and meet the new daughterinlaw. they moved about 2 months ago, to san diego, and cindy went out there last weekend, till this sunday. we are e'ing back and forth, she is having a blast. that is all for now, have a great day everyone. karen
KALINDRIA 9/27/06 1:12 P
Not misleading at all. I never assume all weddings are the 'church and restaurant' or hall reception type. Especially in California where so many people do their own thing...
Fifteen years ago, my sister got married on a fishing boat! Her inlaws were horrified and were sure it would rain on them. They almost didn't go. But this is San Diego and the weather was bright and beautiful. And it was the boat that my sister and her husband met on! The reception was in my parent's big back yard and it was all marvelous.
I think a wedding is a terrific time to express your creativity and individuality. Your daughter's sounds lovely!
Diana, I hope you feel better soon!
kali
KAREN1953 9/27/06 7:02 A
i think i might have mislead some one... our wedding is a little different than most... she is getting married in a gazebo at a county park (just beautiful) then after the ceremony, since we live 1/2 hour out of town, we are having a small reception for the people that were at the ceremony, at the hall that is having the dinner and dance. kinda confusing i know, but hope it will be fun! karen
KAREN1953 9/27/06 6:59 A
DIANA: OH MY GOD!!!!!!!HOW DO YOU KEEP UP WITH IT ALL???? i was cringing in pain just reading your post! i hope you have some good, strong pain meds. sounds like you deserve them! and i thought my husband had pain issues!!ha! no way!! you have him topped. I CANT SAY IT ENOUGH.....I AM SO SORRY FOR YOU!!! i know you dont want people to feel sorry for you but hey, cant help it!
we are getting closer and closer to "THE BIG DAY" now we are finalizing the small reception we are having at the hall, right after the ceremony. was informed by dd last nite that the photographer requires all money up front the week before! darn...i was liking the idea of earning a few cents on that money in the savings acct! am working this week, then off all next week, and the monday after....am thinking of taking off the next day too! i know i will be wiped out. take care diana, and know that i will pray for you and your husband. karen

kali: you brought up a good point....i am not looking forward to wearing those "cute" little spikey shoes ALL day! it seems that is the local custom, to do a gift opening, the day after. mostly it is for family and very close freinds. we are having one opening this sunday, cause my sister wants to get back to texas, bright and early the morning after the wedding, so she wants to give my daughter her present early.(my dd loves the idea of course!) no clue as to what we are having for the official opening...maybe a sub platter from subway... take care karen

Karen, and Kali, Hello, sorry that I didn't post but had another emergancy and had to take my dad to the ER and so I haven't gotten any sleep for 48 hours, I also had a 3 EMG done yesterday, as I am having more problems with my left side, now my left hand and the last three fingers have no feeling and all I feel is tingleing, well this could be nueropothy [Diabetes} or something else, like a pinched nerve in my spine, well this is what I asked in Dec, as I was told that I had 4 little bumps on my cervical spine, well then the past 3 weeks 3 of my doctors told me that I have hurniasions at c4-5 and c6-7 with spurs on the right side, I just can't trust any of them, I am better off just looking up my own info. I just don't think that I can ever trust any of them, I also went to the Ruematologist and was told that I have rotator cuff problems, and that I have calsification of the tendon and the bicep and tricep muscles. I sure better get down off this band wagon,Kali did I tell you that your pictures were beautiful!!! Your daughters are too. I will be in a better mood tommorrow, well I think so, but I may be called again tonight, I am in a lot of pain my left siatic nerve is shooting my through the roof, this started yesterday and gotten worse since. I really am exited for you both, but as I said before it is all over so quickly. Blessings to all, Diana

It goes way too fast. Fortunately, we all have lots of photos of it to share. So far both my sister-in-law (well, really my ex-sil) and mom have sent me their pix...
The shoes were great except that after 6 hours of running around in them, I got little blisters on my little toes. I had to go move my car and dragged my sister into a darling shop in Tiburon next to the reception site... and bought a second pair that were so cute my younger daughter tried to buy them off my feet!
What did you decide to make for the gift opening day? We don't do that in my family... the newlyweds are already on their way to Maui for two weeks. And most of the gifts were off the registry and arrived way ahead of the big day. My bride already has most of her Thank You notes written and mailed! Talk about organized!

ohhhh....kali! your pics are beautiful!!!! it sounds like it was so much fun. love the dress! your daughter is beautiful! i am kinda sad tho..it goes by so fast doesnt it? i was on the treadmill alittle while ago, and decided to get off, to look thru my recipes, to see what i could make and freeze, for the gift opening, the day after the wedding! us women! always thinking...preparing...planning! then it is over...JUST LIKE THAT!! ok, better go, look at those recipes! just wanted to say... great pics! karen

I'm back and I'm exhausted but I'm happy. It all went extremely well. Rachel is THE most organized person on the planet - she puts Martha Stewart to shame! So no one was surprised at all the lovely innovative little touches and special things she (and her groom) did for us.
She had a small cake and then matching cupcakes. Since they are both rock climbers, their favors were carabiners engraved with their names and the date along with breast cancer awareness bracelets (one of the matrons of honor lost her mother to breast cancer as did the groom.)
I have posted some photos in my gallery for you all to enjoy. I will share more as I catch up on sleep. But I wanted to let you know I was home safely and the wedding went off without a hitch! I now have two fabulous sons-in-law and two married daughters! And yet again, I managed not to slaughter my obnoxious ex.
I was good on the food and water and bad on exercise but it was tough to find time. We didn't ever make it to the rock climbing gym, but the younger daughter/matron of honor and I walked a mile on Thursday. Other than that, I did a lot of shopping and running around but nothing that would raise the heart rate much. I'll just have to make up for it now that I'm home.
I skimmed all the posts I missed -- sounds like you all have been busy! Can't wait to catch up. It's good to be back.

diana:you are a sweetheart.it is people like you that MAKE people like me! sometimes i can be quiet the b----...so if i can take a turn at lending an ear, and being supportive, that is something i have to jump at. THANK YOU! for letting me listen in on your problems, and being supportive, and hopefully alittle understanding. please hang in there, because our lord is watching over you, even if it looks like he isnt.
ok, time to lighten it up! my daughter and i are going tomorrow to a boutique, so i can buy her her wedding nite "jamies".....if you know what i mean! her fiance thinks that is weird, me paying for something pretty and frilly, but she really cant afford it, so i want to do that for her. then we will get the "favors" for the wedding, and get all the details down, for the programs, and that should be about it, for the wedding details...wow, it is coming fast!! we go tomorrow nite, with the mother of the grooms family for a taste test at the place where the rehearsal dinner is going to be. that should be fun. better go get supper started...turkey chilli! have a great evening everyone karen

Karen, You are so supportive, and with a wedding just a couple weeks away. Well the way I look at it the lord has a path that we are on, why I don't know but I have put it in his hands, he is the true healer. So everything will be fine. Thank you for being there for me. Blessings, Diana

Kali and Karen, Hi, Kali I am so glad that your shoes are great. You definatly want to be comfortable. Karen, well today was another eventful day. My husband got much worse again, I took him in to the doctor, unfortunately I just had to leave my husband there and go to my own appointment. Then I picked him up took him home for 2 hours and then went to the hospital so that he could have another MRI he goes back to the doctor tommorrow, I hope that something can be done, as I can't continue to keep my music students waiting. But I can't call them with my husband the way he is. Talk to you later, Kali have a great wedding. Blessings, Diana Karen, It took me 3 years to get rid of my weight but I still need to get more off. and of course I have gained some, the medicine that I am on one of the side affects is weight gain. I really wish that I didn't have to take any medicine, why can't things be more like they used to be, when I only went to the doctor once a year, because I had to. Not 7 doctors to try and keep organized. This is really quite a task. Better go, Blessings, Diana

My shoes arrived today and they match the dress PERFECTLY! And they're so cute and comfy! I'm a happy camper. I started packing but just had to share the shoes news.
Karen, just keep working at it - you'll lose that 20 lbs and more. It's not easy at all, but I don't ever want to go back to the way I was.
I'll take lots of photos. Thanks for being such good friends!!
kali

good morning ladies! what a fun time it sounds like for you kali! be carefull what you eat tho...that spinach thing kinda gets you wondering..."what next?!" diana: i wish i weighed what you do! i am 20+# more than you! hope all is getting better with you and your DH. my daughters wedding is oct 7....it is starting to sneak up! just a few things left to do...get favors, and print the programs..she has to still, pick out pictures to use in the dvd that will be playing on the wall, during dinner. (she is one of those last minute people---drives me nuts!)
it was so cold in the house when i got up, i decided to make the "zuchini brownies" from this web site..was going to take them to work, but ech! they taste really weird. take care and have fun kali! (PICTURES!!) karen

Diana - the other daughter and her hubby live even further north than the bride-to-be. She's driving down to the wedding, but her hubby is a fire fighter with US Forestry and they just sent him off on Tuesday to a fire. She may be coming alone. Guess we'll see.
I started packing... eeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! So excited!!
kali

Kali, Good luck and enjoy, lucky you that you lost weight I mean if you have to be sick you should get something out of it. Not for me though this fat is stuck on with super glue. Kali, take lots of pictures and share OK? So is your other daughter and husband flying up with you? Enjoy, Blessings to you, Diana Karen, how many weeks or days until your wedding? Talk later. Diana
KALINDRIA 9/19/06 2:39 P
Yes, Diana... I leave Thursday morning to fly up to San Francisco... wedding is on Saturday. I'm SO excited!!
Get well soon. Take it easy and drink lots of fluids. That helped me. I lost weight too because I had no appetite at all. Not that you want to lose weight that way, but I guess there is a little bit of a bright side.
kali

Ksli, Is your wedding this weekend? If it is time flies. I am sorry that you had EColi too, but be thankful you conquered it, there have been many that have died just recently from it, I am still fighting it 4 weeks later. This isn't fun at all. Especially when hubby is not good, so it makes it hard to take care of him. I am very worried about him. Talk to everyone later. Diana
KALINDRIA 9/19/06 12:10 A
I had an e. coli infection about three weeks ago too. I don't eat too much spinach so I don't think that's where it was from. But it hit me hard... I sure hope you feel better soon. I know it took me quite a while to feel 100 percent again.
I talked for a long time to my other daughter, the one who got married in March. She's matron of honor for her sister and she's excited about this weekend too. We laughed and giggled like kids.
I told her that I wanted to go to the bride's gym up there because I've been so diligent about exercising and don't want to go 5 whole days without any cardio. They go to this awesome rock climbing gym (it's where the rbide met the groom!) I've never done any climbing because I was always too heavy. Maybe I can now. And if not, they also have stationary bikes and treadmills too.

Kali, and Karen, HI, Had another kind of bad day. You know that I really hope that this blood sugar thing will be a think of the past, but of course you two have heard about the spinich and the Ecoli, guess were I got my ecoli, I eat a spinach salad 3 weeks ago. It just dosen't want to leave me. The college thing is very difficult because of my blood sugars, for instance yesterday at the wedding we attended I went through the recieving line and when I got to the mother of the bride I shook her hand and said Good Morning, and it was 4:30 in the afternoon!!!! Boy did I feel like a pure imbosil. I was so imbarassed. These are the kind of things that happen when my bs is unstable. So of course those things can happen in College. Better go, what was the deal about the drinking, I guess I didn't read it well, Sorry.
KALINDRIA 9/17/06 2:15 P
Nope, didn't sound weird. I know there's a lot to do. I haven't tried everything on together and probably won't until the morning I finally get dressed. That's just me. I'd rather wear jeans. LOL
I have posted two new photos on my SparkPage. Some of the gals in my other group were asking where the wedding is. One photo is the outside of Montgomery Chapel, part of an old seminary in San Anselmo - nearwhere actor Sean Penn lives! The other is an interior photo. It's going to be so beautiful... I can hardly wait!!
I don't think I can send my daughter to you, but I can send some of the samples, if you want!
kali
KAREN1953 9/17/06 6:48 A
P.S.......that may have sounded weird...trying on everything...but i picked my dress up last weekend, from being altered..the straps had to be shortened. so i had not gotten around to trying it on to make sure it fit ok. take care karen
KAREN1953 9/17/06 6:46 A
ok...i must admit...no, i did not drink the whole bottle, my sister did help me!
wow, that sounds really neat...all that makeup! i tried all the makeup i bought, and decided i didnt like the lippolish. so now i have to replace that. i tried on my dress, with everything else (pantyhose, body shaper, shoes..) everything looked really good together. SO! i can say i am done! (except for the lip stick)..send your daughter my way!!! better go get some points. have a great day karen
KALINDRIA 9/17/06 1:01 A
LOL... a whole bottle of wine? Did your sister help you drink it?
I don't have to buy makeup -- younger daughter manages a makeup counter at Macy's and I have more makeup and creams a lotions than I will EVER be able to use. And she gives me more every time I see her. It's fun though. She's doing everyone's makeup in the wedding party (well, all the girls, that is!) and called me today to make sure I schedule time for her that morning!!
She's even got this cool stuff that basically seals your makeup so that even if you cry, nothing runs or bleeds or so much as thinks about it. We used it ather wedding and it worked like a charm! Can you believe, the bride herself did my makeup, her own makeup, AND her sister's makeup for her own wedding!?! And it was great!!
kali
KAREN1953 9/16/06 6:28 P
kali: yep i hear ya! oh my god...my sister and i went shopping this aft...for my makeup, and perfume for the wedding..of course we stopped at a wine shop..i bought a bottle of wine...DRANK THE WHOLE THING!!!!!! i swore off beer (which i love) for the month of sept...thinking it would help me loose weight...well... found wine, with the help of my sister, and it is yummy! am ready to go to bed...and it is only 5:30pm!!! oh boy! take care all karen
KALINDRIA 9/16/06 3:26 P
Diana, I will get my PhD, but it's not possible living where I live now and I don't want an online degree. I've always said I was going back to school... the only question is when -- and honestly, two weddings in one year AND moving to another state (if my house ever sells) suck up a lot of time!
k.
KAREN1953 9/16/06 5:19 A
good morning ladies. well, we have quit the discussion going huh? very interesting! let's see...on the subject of dreaming of your daughters wedding, uh...no, not me...cause in fact, my daughter that is getting married, was such a tomboy, i didnt think there was a man that could tame her! on the subject of getting your phd.... i just barely graduated from high school (was too interested in chasing the boys!) of course now i sometimes regret it, but i know too, what kind of mind i have, it is a little on the slow side, comprehending things. too bad for me! this is the last weekend my hubby and i have to enjoy peace and quiet and do what we want, then as of next weekend, all the madness of prewedding activities start!! take care ladies, and have a great day karen
102654 9/16/06 1:18 A
Kali, I am sure that you are not the only one. But when I say that I am talking about everything being perfect and that is what you always want for your children. So why aren't you persuing your masters or phd? Hey if I can do it you can. Reach for your dreams, and you are not to old. I have to classes that I am not the oldest in so there. You need to put things into action. Bless you, Diana
KALINDRIA 9/16/06 12:40 A
Diana, Maybe I'm different but honestly, I haven't dreamed of my daughter's weddings atall... ever. Never dreamed of my own either. Medical school or getting a PhD, yes, but a wedding... nope.
I planned my younger daughter's wedding which was in March of this year and had some problems like you mention (mostly with my ex and his zillions of extended family members!) But it ended up snowing 5 feet and so only about one third of the guests made it... LOL... and we still paid for 150 guests. Oh well.
This wedding is all being planned and executed by my older daughter and they have it all very strictly orchestrated. I have no duties and no obligations. I gave them some cash a while ago, but I have nothing to do with party crashers or anything like that. It's lovely. Really lovely. I can't wait.
So, am I the ONLY one who doesn't dream of weddings?
kali
102654 9/15/06 11:42 P
Karen,Kali,Jackie, Hi, all these weddings are coming so close, maybe if you guys don't care I would like to give you a small piece of advice, don't let anyone ruin the day that you have planned since your daughters were born I said that I wasn't but I am so afaid of hurting someones feelings, this is one of my downfalls, but also plan a seating list, we thought that it was a terrible thing to do but we didn't and we ended up with 150 extra people. Even if I would have had someone with a list and a person to escort those not on the list out. As we didn't know the grooms relatives we had know idea who all these people were, so we ended up serving 550 for dinner. Oh well I guess we will spend the next 50 years paying for it. Talk to you ladies later. Blessings, Diana

102654 9/15/06 1:50 A
Karen and Kali, I know that both of you are very busy, I just sometimes I get parinoid when I don't hear from either of you in a while, I think that Jackie must be overly busy especially the wasy things have been in Isreal. I will check out the dress and shoes, but not tonight. Have to take hubby to the doctor, he is not any better if anything he is worse. I hope the doctor can get to the bottom of things. Blessings, Diana
KALINDRIA 9/14/06 6:05 P
Diana, At my other daughter's March wedding, we had a similar thing happen with the photographer. I had a specific list of the photos I wanted and who was to be in them. We got most of those, but then people started posing and the stupid guy just kept snapping away. There are pictures of my ex (who paid nothing for this big wedding where most of the guests were HIS relatives!) with the happy couple AND with both our daughters and none of me with them. I could go on and since I paid for everything I was more than a bit peeved. But my daughter's happy with the photos and I WILL get my pictures at this upcoming wedding if I have to be the B***H from H**L.
kali
KALINDRIA 9/14/06 6:00 P
Sorry, I haven't been here much but it's been kinda slow postings-wise so I don't check in too often. I'm bad. In addition to the wedding, I have been painting the inside of my house which we're trying to sell, showing my younger dog, working on a second PT job and a million other things.
The wedding is autumn colors, the bridesmaids and flower girls are in brown. My dress is brown (it's in my gallery) with bronze threads throughout. It's casual and pretty and comfortable. I just bought the shoes online last night and will put a photo of them in my gallery too. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7213512/c/200.html That's a link to the shoes.
If you ever want to find me, I'm always posting on the SparkPlugs team forum. You're all invited to join me over there if you want...

good morning diana. hope all is well with you and your hubby no, have no clue with what is up with kali..hope all is well! you can vent any darn time you want. i am a good listener (i am told anyway) your daughters mother in law sounds like a real winner. i dont think i could have kept my composure, like you did.(sorry---hit the post button by mistake)i probably would have slapped her, or at least yelled at her to "know your place" I know, this is not a laughing matter, but how else can you look at it now? shame on her.....but she is probably the type that doesnt know any better. ok, better get going. have a great day ps yes i will be coming back here after the wedding. karen
102654 9/13/06 2:59 P
Karen, haven't heard from Kali lately, do you know what is up? Sorry that you had to hear my venting, that is what is was, but eveytime I think about it I get upset, I guess hurt more than upset. My daughter and I are close and will always be but I guess I taught her to put others first, so I guess she figured this meant her wedding too. Someday if she has a daughter she will understand, that from the moment they are born we think about there wedding day. It is over and I need to quit going back I know. It is just her mother-in-law knows how to get under my skin. She told me what I was going to do about different things at the shower that she gave to Monica it was very hard to keep my composure but I did. As a lot of Monica's and my friends were there. I was a very nice shower, but it was a bit nervy of her. Listen to me, I am sorry, I just do not ever talk about others, and I am again, sorry I won't talk about it again. Well is everything going as planned for your wedding? It will be very beautiful at this time of the year. We have a wedding to go to this Sat. I still need to get a gift. I think I will give a gift card again as she is moving to Cal. right after the wedding for a couple of years. Blessings to you and thank you for putting up with me please forgive me, I wont get on the subject of that part of my daughters wedding, I do have a question for you, are you going to quit using this site after your wedding? It seems as though everyone else has, I am the only one sticking on, I believe if one can help someone else after going through it prior to, then why not? Besides it seems that I feel that you are all my friends, I have shared more with you than my friends that I see. Blessings, Diana
KAREN1953 9/13/06 6:53 A
diana: my heart just aches for you! you were treated so shabby. what a shame, your daughter should have spoke up, to the photo guy AND the m.o.g. we have had a few little problems, mostly with the bridal shower, but that is all past now. the browns of my dress, go very well with the cinnamon of the bridesmaids dresses. my daughter approved of my dress, now we are waiting for mog to get hers. i am not concerned about her in the least. we are a very close little family (hubby, me and my two daughers) so hopefully we wont have the nightmare problems you had. I AM SO SORRY FOR YOU!!!! it should have been such a fun and joyous time for you! you have every right to feel that way, dont feel ashamed of yourself. besides thinking that you were close to your daughter, you have every right to be ticked, by the amount of money you spent on the wedding. THIS IS WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR...SO YOU CAN VENT...ABOUT ANYTHING!!! good luck with your husband...hope the medicine works quickly. better go get back on the treadmill karen
102654 9/12/06 7:22 P
Kali, I haven't heard much from you lately, I bet your busy doing the mother of the bride things. I don't think you have said what color your weddingis and what color is your dress, it must be beautiful as you sounded so excited. You can read my book that I wrote to Karen, I am actually ashamed of myself for getting into all that stuff. I know it is because I am not feeling well, but that is no excuse. I want to thank you both for putting up with me. Sorry to you both. Blessings, Diana
102654 9/12/06 7:14 P
Karen, Sounds like you are going to be beautiful at the wedding. Just out of ceriousity did any of the bridal shops tell you that you shouldn't wear the same color as the bridesmaids? I am asking because every place that I went they told me that, and when I started looking for a rasberry pink dress they couldn't imagine it. That is what my daughter wanted me to wear, she said that it was my best color. It also cordinated with the wedding, she had different shades of pink, the bridesmaids were in aqua, talk about hard to find. My daughter wanted this color from the time she was 13. Everyone said she would change her mind well she didn't. I was just wondering if you incountered the same thing as I did. My dress was actually a bridesmaids dress, it was very modest. The mother of the groom wore a prom dress!! Backless at that. Listen to me, I shouldn't say that, she did look very nice. The only thing that bothered me was when I decided to wear pink, she asked me if I wanted to go with her to shop for a dress, I said sure, I found out the next weekend she went and bought a "pink" dress, without asking me if I wanted to go. I felt like she was taking over. The one that kind of really hurt me was the kids asked her to go to the photographer with them, I was not asked. It was Ok for us to pay for all the pictures but I didn't get to go with them, you might think that I am a controling person, I definately not. Well the photographer went to the church before the wedding and guess whos pictures he took, at the wedding I am sure he thought that she was the one paying, so of course she was in over 100 pictures. I was in 10!! He never took one of my daughter and myself, I still am upset with that. Like I said I think the photographer thought she was paying. I also wanted a full family picture, formal as long as everyone was dressed in tuxes and formal wear. Well that did'nt happen either, oh also a friend of the grooms mother was in 7 pictures and she really didn't know the kids or us. And we paid for that also. I guess I just had my feelings hurt about all that. I was hurt by my daughter that she didn't include her father or myself, also the grooms mom went to help pick out the invitations. I always thought that my daughter and I had a very close relationship, I still do, but things like that hurt. My sisters told me they thought she wanted them to like her and except her. I just hope that if she has a daughter that she dosen't do that to her. Listen to me, I am ashamed of myself, I guess that I am feeling poorly and it is easy to feel sorry for myself. This is not in my character. Really, in fact this is the only time I have ever mentioned it except when it was happening with my sisters. My husband really started feeling worse today so I called his doctor about it and he thinks he has an infection, so put him on a Zpak. I am glad that you found a beautiful dress, you will have to post it so we all can see. Blessing to you, Diana
KAREN1953 9/12/06 7:39 A
good morning diana! glad to hear from you. hope all is well with you and hubby. our gas is always on the higher side, cause the state taxes us on gas, for road work and such. the color of my dress is brown, all brown skirt (floor length) and the top (with jacket) is a glittery light brown. my dress lady matched it to the colors of the bridesmaids dresses-cinnamon) and my coloring and such. cant wait to hear all the stories from everyone else. this is so much fun! gotta run take care karen
102654 9/10/06 11:36 P
Kali and Karen, HI, Diana here, I did OK today at the show, if you were to figure profit [not labor] I probably cleared 150. for all my work, but the weather wan't to good, it was rainy and cold, every one who came to the home tour wore capri's they were cold. So was I. Gas around here went down too, it is 2.49 around here, just think you two, a year ago we were complaining about it getting to 2.00!!! Karen what color is your dress? Jackie, what color is yours? Kali, what about yours? These weddings are rushing in ready or not. Remember enjoy this time, remember to take pictures. I didn't for everything and now I am sorry. Blessings, Diana

diana! it was so good to hear from you! i am sorry that things are not too good for you right now. around here, the price of gas had gotten up to $3.13 a gallon, back in aug. but have now gone down to $2.55...and i think it will continue to drop, so maybe that will help..as people realize they are not paying so much in gas, maybe they will start spending again.
i picked up my dress yesterday, my daughter went with me, i think she likes it. she says she does, but of course what would she say if she didnt? oh well, cant worry about that. over and done with. very cold here this morning..44! better go earn some points have a great day karen

Hi ladies, Diana here, I didn't get notice of new postings so I haven't been yacking at you. your weddings are coming so fast, I am glad that you found a dress. You know paying that price is very silly BUT remember you are the next most important person there. You must be beautiful [feel beautiful] My show so far has been not a lot of sales, sold 3 baskets today. I used to sell 500.00 worth by now, I guess the economy really bad. Art seems to be soft right now, I know other friends of mine who have said this also. Well I didn't get my watermelon basket put together, I will just have to do it latter. My hubby helped me today as soon as we got home he put a hot towel on his head. and fell asleep. I need to get there myself. Talk to you both later. Before you ask yes I still am battling E.Coli, I guess my body just is rejecting the antibiotics. But it could be a combination of my diabetes and the EColi. Blessings, to both of you. I can tell you are both very excited!!!! Diana

am going today to pick up my m.o.b.dress. the straps had to be shortened. cant wait to get it home. then i have to take a picture of it, and take it to the lady who is doing the flowers. the time is starting to fly now.
my daughter should be happy....it has been warm till yesterday, then it cooled off. she loves the cold, that is one of the reasons she picked october 7th. up here in wisconsin, that is a beautiful fall time of the year, but alittle cool have a nice day karen

Karen, I'm flying up three days early to help with last minute details. We're doing the flowers ourselves - her sister will be helping out too - and she's having cupcakes instead of a big wedding cake. We'll be very busy making those, I'm sure!! It will be a great girl bonding time and I can't wait!!

Karen, you can also use a bit of sandpaper to roughen up the bottoms of new slippery shoes!
And yes, this is so much fun! I'm mentally packing my bag for the trip north all the time... don't want to forget anything.

kali...ISN'T THIS FUN??!! I AM SO EXCITED ALSO. where i got the dress yesterday, she has EVERYTHING! so we matched the shoes, and purse. then she had me buy a matching necklace...it really makes the dress. WELL! my daughter saw the necklace today,(cant see the dress till this saturday..she had to alter the straps...too long) she had a fit.(i had no idea how much it had cost, so she looked at it and saw a price tag of $95.00 on it!) i felt like a idiot! it does make the dress, but my daughter insisted her girlfriend, who sells jewelry (tia sophia) would have something close to that, WAY cheaper! so she is taking the necklace home with her, and showing it to her friend, and if she has something comparable to it, saturday, when we go get my dress, we will attempt to return it. (i feel like such a sucker!!) this will also be the first time since my wedding that i have worn those cute little open toed heels. (she told me i have to walk around on stones, to scuff them up.) very interesting...i feel like a country bumpkin!!! i have a hair appt also, for 2 weeks before the wedding, i go anyway, about every 6 to 8weeks, to get dyed and highlighted. so that will work out good. i guess the nail polish i had on my toe nails is a perfect match to the dress! better go, cause of course i could go on and on!!! take care and have a great week! karen
KALINDRIA 9/4/06 1:01 P
Karen, don't forget, we want to see a photo of your dress (with you in it is even better!) Do you have shoes, etc. to go with it?
I'm not getting new shoes as I have some cute ones already that match. And I think I have a bag too so I'm set! Will need a haircut and have that appointment set for next week. I'm so excited!!

I think I understand diabetes a lot better now. What a nightmare! I can't even imagine being in your situation. And please don't think you wrote too much. You have an incredible strength of spirit and I admire you. Any time you need to vent or whine or just talk, please feel welcome to do it here. I am very willing to listen and learn more.
Thanks for helping educate me. I know it wasn't easy to talk about but I really appreciate it.

hahaha! diana that is so funny (what your husband wanted you to do!!) i can just imagine my husband saying the same thing!! MEN! but without them, we would have nothing to laugh at!!! all kidding aside, glad that he has a sense of humor thru all this. dont reread the posts....the heck with it, just write what you feel, and then hopefully you will feel better afterward. nothing like unloading on friends!! venting is great. (i know, i do it alot at work, with my best friend--excluding my husband!) better go, need to get to bed soon. TAKE CARE EVERYONE!!!! karen
