| Welcome, Isn't it a wonderfull age. I've been there now for 8 years .It's to bad no one ever told us to lose our weight and get into shape before we were 30. At least then we would have been a lot more active.lol.But now it's fun to be at SP. Hope you have fun to . Good luck to you . Margaret

Hi
22 days and counting now.
A day of highs and lows today.
High one, weighed 2 pounds less. Low, hungry nearly all day.
High two, worked out at the gym for 2 hours. Low, only burned up 350cals.
High three, son has landed the job of his dreams and I am oh so proud. Low, he will have to relocate to London and I will miss him.
Oh the joys o being a nifty fifty mum.

Hi and thanks for the welcome
23 days and counting now. Fifty here I come, ready or not.
Like the idea of leaving the "fat forties" behind. Wouldn't it be great if that was what happened - the minute you turned 50 you not only said goodbye to your 40s but also goodbye to your fat. That it just magically disappeared and you instantly turned into this slender nifty 50. Mmmm maybe.......
No don't think so. Therefore I had better keep up with my healthy eating and exercise plan. Going well to date. Day 3 now. Started back at work today after the holidays. Made a big bowl full of fresh fruit salad which my business partner and I snacked on all day. A lot healthier than our usual chocolate biscuits. They have been banned from the shop as from today.
Off out for a walk soon. It's really cold so will have to wrap up warm.

| JACKIEV - Your right! The fat forties was terrible! Cheeky 30's and the 20's were fun but stressful, in them days could not imagine I'd be Nifty 50+ but I have arrived!

| Welcome to the fifty club! I think that being this age is actually great - I like the "nifty fifty" bit and am going to keep that in mind - 'cos I didn't like the "fat forties" at all!! The children are now grown up and there is now time to spend on yourself - keeping fit especially. More power to us!!!

MARJIEM ~ Did you know there was a recent study of the aging population.
The new age for
80 - is 60 60 - is 40 50 - is 30!
Apparently the aging populations are living longer and thus the study, shows we are younger than ever in mind, spirit and age.
Now we have to do our part and live up to that study by Getting Fit after 50! Nifty 50+ is getting better each year! Welcome to the group!

Take it from a 60 year old 50 isn't old.
Get the weight off now, where you may spend you 60s, being able to get around with out the phycial or mental, burder of those exrtra pounds.

Live life to the full I say, it ain't over til it's over.
For my 50s I intend to continue as ever. I'll hit the ground running at full speed and cram as much as I possibly can into life.
Joining clubs sounds a good idea. I fancy learning ti chi so may seek out a local class/club. Going on trips sounds even better. New York will do for starters, but that will probably be it as far as long haul breaks go for the time being due to business commitments. However weekends away nearer to home sounds just as good to me. Motorbiking sounds mega exciting? However I think I'll give that one a pass.
Thought for Today - "Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel."

You are SO refreshing! You're looking forward to your 50th and a whole new you instead of whining and traumatizing over getting old! I love it! I hate whiners and negative people and I think your attitude is wonderful! And coming from a woman who is about to turn 54 and riding her own motorcycle, joining clubs, going on trips, "baby" 50 ain't old!!!!

Thanks for the Welcome.
24 days and counting now.
Pleased to say that my first day of healthy eating and increased exercise is over. They say the first day is always the worst!!
Did OK apart from a slight hiccup in the evening when I found myself eating leftover snacks from New Year celebrations. Don't quite know how that happened!!! but soon got back on track.
Here's to day 2.

Hi All
Well I am almost there, I have just 25 days to go before I reach the big 50 (Jan 27th 2006)and must admit I am quite looking forward to it. To celebrate I have decided that I am going to work hard to regain the fitness and frame that I have let slip over the last couple of years, so that by the end of 2006 I'll feel more like 30 than 50.
Well that's the plan, hence me signing up to SP. I intend to use the site to its full potential and to really make the effort. Here's hoping.
Oh, almost forgot!! Also to celebrate my turning 50 my husband and I are spending my birthday in New York!!! Can't wait, we have never been before and it all looks so fab.
