I have passed the site on to a few friends- even the health awareness is great.

I have tried getting a couple of the girls from the office to try this site. They see the excitment that I have toward it, but they don't follow through with it.

I don't think you should feel bad! Each of us is completely different and all of our families are different. For me having my family participate is GREAT!!! But I have friends who having their family do anything with them is not so great. So, don't feel bad. One of the great things is we are all so different. What a boring place if we were all the same!

Hmm. Am I the only selfish one out here who doesn't *want* friends and acquaintances from the real world to be part of my virtual community? I use a different nutritional and exercise tracker, a software program that resides on your own computer, and I've told a lot of people about that, but I keep quiet about the online communities I'm in and the user names I use there. I just feel that if there's anything I want to share with the people I can see and touch, I'll go find them and tell them. The online communities are a place for me to talk about things that are too sensitive for face-to-face conversations.

As far as family, I'm kind of the cheerleader for my mom (and hopefully someday my brother), so I wouldn't want them to be reading about my struggles when I'm unhappy with my weight and progress. That's what you tend to share on the online communities, and I feel like they would get discouraged thinking it's even harder than it really is. My mom has been using a software tracker and is doing really well, and I wouldn't mind getting her into a *different* online community, but I haven't "spread the spark."

Unfortunately, I cannot influence anyone to join this site. I must admit my close friends are all in pretty fantastic shape and they have no time. But I tell them it does not matter you can always use tips and support no matter what fitness level you are on.

My mother told me about the site (for which I am very grateful!), and my husband has an account but isn't very active yet. I am trying to get him to track food and stuff with me, but so far I've only gotten him to join in my strength training. He has lost sixty pounds in the last year, and is wanting something to break his plateau. But so far I'm enjoying just having the resource for myself.

My best friend joined, my daughter joined and I anticipate that a whole slew of others will join as well because I talk about SparkPeople to anyone and everyone who will listen!

I got my boyfriend to join. We joke that he's my trainer and I'm his nutritionist. Now he's losing more weight than I am!

I think that a family is what everyone who is trying to lose weight needs. My dad started me here and is trying really hard to make life style changes in himself. I am trying too. It is nice that we can actually talk to each other about hard ships and good days.

Its great that so many families have joined up. My mother joined also - she's not very active on the site other than tracking food, but she is a a great resource for recipies, and to share this with!

my husband, my mother and my cousin joined together and created our own weight loss group. We meet once a week and weigh in, and talk about nutrition, fitness and struggles. We create weekly challenges and motivate each other. It's great! WE have all lost weight. My mom and my cousin have joined SP, but neither are consistant with it yet. My mom struggles since, due to where she lives, she can only have dial up internet, so it's slow.

My mother and I always do things together and losing weight is no different. I have been trying to have her use Sparkpeople, but she won't. But now, I can track for her! Yep-yee! We are well on our way to lose this weight as well as being healthier. I am so excited!

I'm tracking my family also without their knowledge. As I track I encourage better health habits. With the exception of my youngest (teen-age girl that knows everything) my family has been changing their habits to the better.

Not sure how many of you have gotten relatives to join, but I'm excited because my third daughter joined today (she's the health nut in our family and joined us more for moral support), but we have three generations on here. My mom, me & my sister (the one who started it all) and my three girls!!!!

Woo Hoo!!!
