I would also love to see some sort of cross over between nutrition and exercise. Some days I will exercise a lot and also eat more. It would be nice to see a "balance" between calories in and calories out.

Gerry that is a faulous idea..that usually takes more time to do and almost always results in both the poster and the one recieving the comment on the page or blog feeling really good..Great suggestion!

Right now, we can earn points for posting to message boards. How about also allowing points to be earned for posting to members' spark pages or blogs? It's a great way to support one another more personally, and adding the points feature might encourage more of us to do it more often.

I am SO grateful for all that SP already offers. This is a fantastic site that has helped me tremendously -- and it just keeps getting better!

My own have mostly to do with the nutrition tracker:

1) I would like to see some kind of cross-over between the exercise tracker and the nutrition tracker, so that how many calories you've burned in exercise that day shows up in the nutrition tracker, and you get two calorie totals for the day: what you ate, and what you ate minus what you burned off in exercise.

2) I'd also like to see some improvements with adding custom foods and specifying serving sizes. What I always find myself doing (and what I see a lot of people have done from the member-added foods in the database) is adding what the actual serving size refers to in parentheses after the food's name, because the serving doesn't fit into the standard cup/tablespoon/ounce options that you get in the drop-down menu, and putting just "1 serving" might confuse you later.

It'd be easier if instead you had a text box where you could type out what one serving was equal to (1/2 cup or 5 crackers or whatever), and then another text box to enter what that serving's weight in grams is (since this always appears with the nutritional info). Then when you go to select it after you've entered it, you can either use the serving size description, or enter a weight in grams if you weigh your food.

3. It would also be nice to have some kind of category system, or at least another check box like the 'don't show fast foods' one for excluding prepackaged-type foods. A lot of times I will search for something like 'rice' or 'chicken' and get back a whole list of boxed side dishes, frozen dinners, and so on, and I have to search through the long list to actually find what I want.

A) I came to make the suggestion about adding units of wt and found SlimDuck made it in her 9/2/2007 comments - #2. Just add unit in lower rt corner by goal - i.e. "160 pounds"
B) Also like her #3 with including height.
C) When someone finetunes their goal the new ticker shows their current wt as starting weight. Perhaps they have already lost 100 lbs!!! Showing a shaded SW (without the 1/4ly increments) and then the ticker as it is now (i.e. cw - 1/4ly increments and goal) gives a quick snapshot of the person's experience. Someone losing lots of weight is more interesting for my experience than someone who loses 10. Congrats to those who look after their wt and lose 10 lbs before it gets as big a task as say 100 lbs, but personally it isn't the same as I'm facing.
D) Thanks SP for being there. You are one of the best things that has happened to me (aside from family of course). You're helping my health big time!! which helps my family too.

Love the ideas..Shannon I especially love including the height..it helps for those of us who are short and in my case small framed..I added that info to my signature after being asked about it numerous times from those who were concerned about the lower weight amount but had no idea how tall I was nor what my frame was...it was and is a legit question...Nan

KIMZ34, I use Firefox as my web browser, and it has an option for "Spell check" which really does come in handy. (I much prefer Firefox over Internet Explorer)

I'd like to see a "ticker" (like the weight ones) that we can use for different goals. Ie, I don't need my ticker to see my weight loss, since I'm not trying to lose weight, just trying to maintain. I'd like to be able to add a "ticker" for a certain goal. Ie, some may use it for how many days in a row they've exercised, or stayed within calorie range, or ANY other type of goal tracking that we would like to "brag" about by using a "ticker"

I wish there was a spell check feature in the message boards and blogs.

I'd like to see more cardio items added. I walk with my child in a stroller...which I'm sure a lot of parents do. That would be a great cardio to add so I don't have to do it myself and calculate everything. Becuase it's not there, I'm not inputting into the system which really doesn't reflect what I'm doing. I just list it as walking/jogging.

Great comments, Shannon. I agree ... although I haven't run into any negative commentors so far. And way to go rescuing the doggies! Makes me happy ... even though I don't know them (lol).

I think SP is a fantastic service, resource, and community! These are very minor suggestions.

(1) I'd like to be able to ignore people on the message boards and not see their posts. (The SP community is considerably more helpful and friendly than most, but there are still one or two curmudgeons whose comments I'd rather not see.)

(2) On the weight progress bar that appears on SP pages and posts, it would be nice if it indicated units: pounds and kilograms. I can tell the difference, but it does cause some confusion. Perhaps they could offer conversion of both units: 145 lbs/66 kg.

(3) Also it would be nice if height was somehow incorporated into the weight progress bar. Helps put things in perspective. (Maybe no one would give a 4'10" person a hard time for having a goal of 100 lbs.)
