I'd love to see a PERCENTAGE ranking when looking up SparksPoint rankings. While it is impressive to look at the huge total numbers of points earned(say for a particular state or Sparks Team) I would really like see that number divided by the participants in that group. So you could have a small state or group whose members are busting butt to earn points rank higher than a group with 1,000 members who only earn 10 points each a month. Know what I mean???

Actually, you can do that.

Click on the food that you want to change, another screen will pop up, which allows you to either change the quantity and the meal. Then, click "Save changes" and Voila!

I second that idea of having a ticker. It'd be great to see how we're doing on personal goals that we've set for ourselves.

I would love to be able to have more than one ticker. One for a mini-goal and one for long-term goal weight. I would also like to be able to see them on my start page or someplace easy to get to. I much prefer looking at a ticker to the line chart in the weight reports.

I would like to see a "health" message board. I know that for serious health problems, a visit to the doctor is unavoidable and necessary but for the little things in life or simply to find answers a health board might be a great idea.

Just wondering where things stand on many of these suggestions (i.e. copying food entries for multiple days etc. . .). Has anyone seen any of their suggestions implemented?

I'd love for fitness reports to offer the option of using the same sort of day-by-day graph used by the nutrition reports rather than the weekly bars.

SP is a WONDERFUL site. But... (the infamaous "but") if I could change anything it would be great if SOMEHOW, if our meals for a day were entered, that we could print out a SHOPPING LIST of the items we would need to have to make the recipes and items we were planning to make/eat.

Maybe it could be handled through the Recipe part of the website. It would be so great to have 4 or 5 recipes that you were planning on making during a week and be able to have SparkRecipes print out our shopping list for us.

Also, I would love it if we could add an odd vitamin or mineral that we take and want to track that isn't in the SparkPeople list of nutrients. I've been taking Omega-3s (broken down into DPA, DHA, ect.) and would like to track it.

Just my two cents. If anyone is listening to this board -- THANKS FOR THE GREAT HELP THIS SITE GIVES US!

Good one! I had some "ask the expert" questions I wanted to save to my fav, but you can't. :( I wish I could sort the favorites I have now-like instead of just favorite foods have faforite fruits, favorite beverages, a category for my vitamin suppliments, snacks, etc.

I still would love to have it set up so that you can click on something you are tracking (fat, calcium, vitamin B or whatever) from your daily totals, and have it pull up the items you ate that had that in it. Like you go "Wow, I did good on vitamin B! What did I eat with vitamin B?"

Yes STERNENFEE, I have looked at the daily report, but that requires clicking on another button, and seeing everything spread out on a page. I would like to be able to just glance at my Nutrition, and see what the sub-totals are after Breakfast, or after Lunch, etc.

I would like to see "sub-totals" for calories. I.e. sub-totals for Breakfast Calories, Lunch Calories, dinner Calories, and Snack Calories.

I find myself wanting to compare today to yesterday to ensure that I am staying on track. If I think I had too many Snack Calories yesterday, then I know I need to cut down on today's calories.

Hope this makes sense!

I would like to see the calorie counts for fitness somehow merged into the nutritional calculator.

For example, usually 1500 calories may be good for the day, but if I ran 15 miles, then it would be nice to see that taken into consideration.

I like the idea of getting 10 points for posting a blog entry.

Some things I would like to see ...

1. A running lifetime average of your tracked nutrition.

2. A 7 day average of your tracked nutrition.

3. A tracker for body fat %. (You can get that with a tape measure and the right conversions, or you can get an Accumeasure caliper and take a pinch test yourself).

God Bless,
mik

I think this site is great and no if you never changed a thing I would still use it and tell others about this site but if you ever get the chance I would love to see an instant messenger like on myspace or yahoo or something like that it would help keep us up to date on who was on if any one responded to your post and if you had mail pluse you wouldn't have to constantly pull up the diffrent features on the page just to check all of that stuff. Just a suggestion if any one else would like that to please let them know. Maybe if it is in high enough demand they will do it.

I think 10 points for each Blog Entry per day would be a good incentive!!

However I think the message board points need to be limited to 10 per day for 100 postings (which I thought they were until a week or so ago!) so people are not tempted to sit in front of their PC all day getting points for playing games. I understand the concept of encouraging people to post, for support, help and information but I think the games should not count towards the spark points (another board I am on has that policy) and it should be limited to 10 points per day total, and the 15 points for the first 5 posts. I hope thats changes soon, we need to be rewarded for diet and exercise! So keep the games, scrap the points! And reward our blogging, its so helpful and I think its an important part of the program here!!

I posted this in a separate thread as I think it would be a good improvement on both counts!!

I would like to have a food or exercise look-up right on my main page. Sometimes I'm thinking about having a certain food and instead of going to my nutrition page, and then click on "add a food" and search for it and look up the nutrition info, it would be nice to just have a search option where I can type in the food I'm looking for and get the nutrition info there. Same thing for exercise.

Ok, two more things I'd like to see on SP:

I track almost everything, so when I see something is high or low in my weekly grid, I'd like to be able to click on it and have it pull up the foods that have that in it. Say I was showing a lot of Cholesterol, if I click on that (the # representing the Cholesterol) it goes to that day's food. I'd like to have it show me what I ate that day that had cholesterol in it. Then I know what to change, instead of pulling up each food and looking at the nutrician info (which would take a VERY LONG TIME on dial-up). It would also be nice to have a place to get ideas of what to add for things you are low in. But asking on the boards usually works.

Also, when I add a food to a recipe, one not in the database, if I forget to put the name in (or it doesn't register because of my dial-up stalling), it gives me an error message that I did not name the food. But I can't just do back and add the name, I have to start ALL OVER! Since I track all my vitamins and minerals, I put in all that info, and sometimes I have to adjust the amount to a cup or some other measure, so I have to re-calculate and reenter all the numbers again, just because it didn't have a name! Very irritating. I wish there was a back button, and I could just go back and fix the thing I messed up!

You guys are gonna get sick of me (if you're not already, lol). K-I want to be able to search the exercises by target area, and to log it in when I up my weights (ok, I can do that now, kinda, with the notes feature, just remembered that! Thanks for it agian, it's SO useful!!!). I also want to be able to schedule workouts every other day, instead of the same weekday every week, if that makes sense to anyone but me.
MARTIET

Ok, I forgot an important one...I want to be able to search the recipes easier, like a search box I can enter a keyword like an ingredient-zucchini or something.

Also, I'd like to be able to get to a recipe they tracker used by clicking on it. I came accross this with entering "Potato Salad" and though "Hmmm. There are a lot of different Potato Salads..." I went to the recipes, and I assume that's where they got the data??? But idk....

A more complicated thought is that the computer could calculate your data and offer suggested foods to bring you up or down in areas you are lacking-like if you have low protine it might suggest you try some tuna, or f your calcium is low, you might try some more milk or a suppliment. If your fat is high and you eat a lot of butter, it might sugest you cut butter. The suggestion would come from computerized databank of what items have those nutrients, so it wouldn't be a personal thing or anything, and some suggestions migh come out silly, but it would be fun and useful anyway.

Wow, I have a lot of ideas! Some might have been stated, so I appologize for that if I repeat. Also, if there is something I can already do, please tell me!!!

Ok, one thing I'd like to be able to do is to edit my measurements without deleating them and re-entering data. For instance, I'd like to change "bicept" to "right bicept" without loosing my data. Also, I'd like to be able to rearange the order that the measurements are listed-like now I think they are in the order I put them in (ie the order I thought of them), but I'd like to put them in the order I take them. I bought a scale with muscle, fat and bone measurements, and they are not all together because the weight was already at the top. I take those measurements more often than the tape measure, and always together.

I also vote for the copy meals and favorites idea, and for the food groupings being able to pull from your personally entered foods. I wanted to enter all my suppliments together, but since I entered them, I have to put them in individually.

I think the spark points should never "register" beyond today. Even if you add things for tomorrow, or the rest of the week, it hasn't actually happened yet, so shouldn't show as points till the day comes.

I'd like to see a chart of my lifestyle scale results. Also, I'd like to not have to go into the trackers to see what I enetered. If it's on the SP site, it seems like I shouldn't have to enter it again, kwim?

I'd love to see an area on the Fitness Tracker for BMI calculation and BMR, with any and all calorie burning activities separate from aerobic (maybe with a box to check if this activity is aerobic FOR YOU). I'm often tempted to add activities that are not really cardio, because I want to see where the caloric burn would put me. Another point of this would be to have a bottom line, + or - calories for the day. I would be much better at entering EVERY food if I could get SP to calculate the total at the end of the day. Then maybe an end-of-day goal could be -500, and if you ate that extra little something, you could still hit that if you pumped up your exercise a little.

I'd like to see more average #'s-like the average callories I ate over the week or the month, the average # of cardio minutes, the average calories burned, along with the lows and highs.

Here's an idea on the food tracker foods-people would SOOO help!!! I got the idea from this book site, it's a site for books that are public domain- called "The Gutinburg Project". There people volunteer time to enter and edit text. Everypage has to be reviewed and approved by 3 people before it goes into circulation. So if I volunteer to type it out, two other people have to check my work and sign off on it not needing any corrections before it goes public. You could do that with the food tracker, and get lots of other foods up there quickly. If you have people sign up to volunteer entering foods (you can still control the list you want added), they could select something to add, and track down the data-either from USDA sites or from the lables. You could require as many checks as seems right, if 5 other people also check their box, it's probably right. Maybe you're already doing something like this, because my foods I entered are not searchable.

I wish the workout videos were available as text and photo instructions, because my dial-up connection is so slow it takes me 1 1/2 hours to get a 15 min or less clip.

I wish I could use the SP exercises to develop a routine for each day, like strength training upper body 1, another one for more advanced-like a food grouping idea, but saved in my favorites as a routine I could switch to if the one I was doing got dull or too easy, or I wanted to switch focus to a different muscle group on Wednesdays vs Mondays or something.

I wish I could make a plan for cardio, and check it off when I do it, like the exercises.

I wish there was a place to add steps, miles, minutes or laps for challenges.

I have a ton more, but I better stop for now...

First off: After one year I'm still amazed about how many awesome features this site has. And I like the last changes with the drop down menus. But of course there's always something that could be even better...

Great idea with the food tracker - copying meals or entering meals for multiple days would save so much time, and maybe reduce the server load, too. Another version of such an improvement would be to change a suggested meal (clicking on a meal item and selecting a replacement) and then save the modified meal, if only for personal use to prevent thousands of modified meals cropping up.

Sparkpoints - I love them too. I've been wondering why there are no points for comments/mails, but I think it makes sense: otherwise sparkpoint addicts like me might be tempted to leave lots and lots of pretty meaningless comments ("nice page!") or mails ("Hi, thanks for your comment"), and that would water down the wonderful communication structure of this site.
With that in mind and with all the ways to earn points, I think I prefer mails & comments as they are now.

Banning / ignoring: I think the "ignore" button is a great idea. Banning would probably create a lot of work, because somebody has to decide whether it's really justified in each given case. And compared to other internet sites the users of sparkpeople are an amazingly friendly and open lot. (familiar with the term "flame war"?)

MUSTANGSALLIE1, I know what you are saying. Maybe instead of banning people who will just rejoin they could create an "ignore this user button". I never thought I would have used that feature until recently. Now I think with something that can be an emotional topic like weight loss there might just be a need to be able to ignore people who have a negative impact on your goals. I know on other sites if you use the "ignore this user" it simply makes them invisible to you. You no longer see their posts in threads. They do not know they are being ignored. You just do not see anything they post, you are no longer impacted by anything they say.

I would love it if the Nutrition Tracker would track how many fruit and vegetable servings my food contained.

Oh, and I think you can change your food from breakfast to lunch without deleting it. After you have entered the food go to where it says the name of the food and click on it. It opens that food and allows you to edit it. I just tried it to make sure. It is actually very easy.

Under my Nutrition, I would love to be able to move a food from breakfast to lunch or lunch to dinner without deleting and re-entering. I often end up putting things in the wrong place (or rather I change my mind about where to put them if I am planning ahead) and it would be a huge time saver. Also, if I could save a meal as a group after I've already finished entering a meal.. that would a big help as well.

I just saw the feature where you can use your camera phone to email a picture of foods to your SP account. That's all fine and dandy, but what if we don't want to pay that charge? Or, what if one does not have a camera phone? Can this feature be set up so that pictures taken with a digital camera can also be emailed? I would much rather see that.

I agree. . . copying one day to another would be great.

I would like to see the following:
The ability to COPY ...
a) from one day to another
1. entire menu
2. selected meals i.e. breakfast, lunch
b) from one person to another
1. my spouse has to enter the same menu twice, once for her and once for me. Time consuming.
2. Also the ability to copy the favorites from one person to another.

Sparks' hint is to plan out your menus, however on sparksrecipes you can add the recipe to my nutrition planner only for the current day. Even if your planner is in the future, it adds it to the current day. Can you allow me to add it to a future date?

Hope this HELPS SPARKS!!!!!

Also being able to select a food for more days than one (I always eat the same for breakfast), would be great, but how are you counting the points then? I found my suggestion already here, but I would like to also agree with the food tracker being able to repeat a food or food grouping for multiple days. Somethings are more than favorites they are part of our daily lives and the mundane repetition of entering it is at times a deterrent from tracking all my caloric intake. I don't know enough to know how hard that would be to accomplish, but it would be greatly appreicated.

I would like to see some calculators like the BMI calculator and the BMR calculator so I won't have to go to other sites to get to them. I also would the chek on the box below not to be checked so we don't have to uncheck them.

I like the multiple day suggestion as I eat the same breakfast, lunch and snacks for a week. There is the food grouping option which is good but you can't use one of your favorites in the grouping. If it is not in the database you have to reenter eventhough you may have it in your favorites...kwim?

I would like to be able to change the Track other goals from a check box to a text field or a counter (like the water) so I could set up goals like eat 2 fruits/veggies. Then, when I ate one, I could enter "1".

I would like that too.

I also posted in the other forum I would like to be able to choose to start my week on a particular day of the week (Monday for me) to fit in with my schedule.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but I'd just like to put it out there that I would LOVE to be able to post a food to my food tracker for multiple days. For instance, I eat 1 cup of Kashi Go Lean Crunch every day for breakfast (LOVE that stuff!). It would be great if I could just tell my food tracker to put that in there for my breakfast for every day and just be able to override it if I have pancakes on a Saturday morning. Whaddya think, SparkGuy?
