I'm in the uk so don't know if they are available over here yet. I often have a kit kat at 105 calories. The problem is once I've had a taste I want more!!!

Nabisco started with them i believe. then other company's followed. You can buy boxes that have 5-6 individidualy packed snacks that each have 100 calories. They have many options, sweet and salty.

I think you hit a nerve! I hate being held ransom to my hormones. Even though I can rationalise my cravings it doesn't make it easier to cope with them.
What are the 100 calorie packs? I haven't heard of these.

I LOVE THOSE 100 Calorie packs!! they are a god send. I also find if I eat them very slowly and make each cookie three or four bits and enjoy every mouthful I will eat less.

I agree about the 100 calorie packs and LOTS of water. I also allow myself 1 extra treat a day - whether it's a REALLY good piece of Dark chocolate (like Godiva) or a little bit of ice cream. Otherwise, I go crazy munching on everything in sight in order to avoid something "bad".

I purchase a pack of semi-sweet real chocolate chunks and have a handful of them. They are low in fat, have few calories and taste just great! You can even add then into your own trail mix or popcorn to kick it up a notch!

Chocolate is my big weakness, any time of the month!!! But especially then!!! I try to keep those 100 calorie snacks around and really try to limit myself to 1 or 2 packs on my bad days!

not sure how to avoid those cravings besides not giving in (very very hard!!!!) and shifting my attention to something else...if i do give in i try to just listen to how much i need (like just a few piece of chocolate or 1/2 a bar of candy)

I suffer from the same thing but usually the days before my period I NEED chocolate! I've tried soy chocolate milk, low fat chocolate milk, low fat hot chocolate but nothing works. I need a chunky bar of chocolate. Sometimes I freeze mini bars and then they take ages to eat and I trick my body into thinking it's had a bigger treat. If I do have to eat chocolate I try and get some organic dark chocolate as it's healthier than milk!

For those chocolate cravings, I make fat and sugar free pudding and top with cool whip free. Yummy! And not very many calories. I also like the quaker mini delights with choc. drizzle - only 90 cals per small bag. I also like the caramel quakes cakes too.

In addition to letting myself have a LITTLE chocolate, I also try to keep hydrated and make sure I get some good protein in too.

I don't crave anything, but I feel like I need something. So I keep nibbling at everything I can find to try to fill it. In the end I'm not satisfied and I've eaten stuff I didn't need to. So now I am prepared and I drink lots and lots and lots of water.

I crave chocolate a lot. My middle son tries to keep me on track but I find myself going for a drive and sneaking and getting me something chocolate. Is there any substitutions for the chocolate fix?

Yup, it's carbs and salt with me. I'm right in the middle of it today and I'm having to fight really hard with the temptation for a packet of crisps, or going home and eating stacks of toast!!!!
I WILL NOT BE BEATEN!!!

I thought I'd bring this board back up because I'm currently trying to battle those cravings.
Except, I always want to go on carb overload.
What I found is that eating a bowl of oatmeal with splenda always helps kill my carb/sweet cravings. (Even if it doesn't sound all that appetizing) Plus its a filling and energizing meal!

I got my period suddenly tonight during a capoeira class (Brazilian martial arts) and I was craving chocolate and sweets all the way home, so tempted to get some on the way home (I don't keep any at home). But I didn't! I came home and drank tons of water. Drinking water bloats me and I think I gained 3 inches on my tummy but I didn't give in!! I'm going to make sure I have fruit around tomorrow when I get cravings for sweets.

Carry water around with you. I try to drink more water during my period, and it seems to help keep the bloat away, and it fills me up (temporarily). I usually crave sweet or salty, so I try to eat more fresh fruit, or egg whites with a little bit of salt. Doesn't sound super appetizing, but it does work! The trick is to find something you can replace the junk food with, that also satisfies you. Good luck!

YOu would like to try to prepare yourself for these times. IN the morning before going to school/work try to prepare something that you can reach for when the cravings strike.. Something that would fill you up. I used to make Peanut Butter cracker sandwiches to eat when I felt my cravings coming on. I would suggest to use a whole grain cracker and some good Peanut Butter that you like. I have tried the reduced fat but I prefer the taste of the regular kind of peanut butter. YOU can also bring some pretzels and dip them in peanut butter. I hope this helps...The trick is to be prepared. Another trick is to write down when these cravings happen so you can be aware of when you need to reach for what you brought.
