Well you are right...that didn't last long..for me, I rated those I had already tried and only tried those that suited my needs or I could readily adapt somehow and said so in the comments exactly what I did..

Wow, now you max at only 1 review. That sure didn't last long.

Kind of frustrating because I've reviewed many recipes - rated quite a few that I'd tried previously (before the rating feature went in). I'm sure that others are doing the same.

Also, if I look at a recipe & it has nothing healthy about it, I'm going to rate it low even if I haven't tried it because the point is to be good AND healthy. If it calls for a cup of butter, it's not healthy, so I can rate it as bad or ok without trying it based on the health factor alone. You'd be surprised how many recipes there are out there that are regular recipes without any attempt at making them healthy.

I agree with previuos posts that ratings are not useful if people are not actually making them. Maybe even having a radio button that says Have you tried this recipe? yes/no. And then either only let it count if they tried it or seperate the ratings somehow from people who have tried or not.

Minnie, you cant see your own ratings because they were not commented on. Someone just clicked on it and picked a number. But if they dont write a comment there is nothing to see.

Minnie, is it your Cauliflower-mashed recipe? I can see 4 comments on that one.
When you click the "ratings" link, it does seem you only see those who left comments, hence your recipe has 6 ratings but there are only 4 showing on the page.

I went to site and noticed people were rating recipes without trying them, saying things like this looks good. Maybe you can send out an email asking people to only rate them after they have tried them.

Oh right, strange you can't see it on your own recipe then! I've not shared any so I can't say whether it's the same for me.

thanks, but no. i see the individual ratings, too.

I wonder if you are confusing the ratings and comments?

As I understand it, the ratings are when you click on the stars and award it however many you think it is worth. You don't see the individual ratings, just an average based on all voters.

The comments are the snippets which are written below the recipe.

So if your recipe says it has 2 ratings, that simply means 2 people have awarded stars.....I think!

you didn't answer me:
i submitted a recipe. it has 2 ratings, but i can't see them. i'd like to. i can see the ratings for other people's recipes.

You will not get points for ratings left prior to yesterday afternoon.

Dave, as this is a challenge for the month of March, do we not get points for the recipes we rated before the announcement?

Seems petty, I know, but I won't get much "proper" cooking in for the rest of this month, as I'm moving house!

I would say, I personally think it should only be a max of 3...it is very open to misuse and 3 points are easier for the rest of us to keep up with!

What is the purpose of rating a recipe if you don't try it? How can you say that it is a good recipe, unless you've made it? All these ratings really have no merit if it is just reading a recipe and making a comment on it.

i like this. you can judge a recipe's nutritional value and guess if you'll like it without cooking it. as in "hey, that's a good idea. if it's complicated, like a cake, you must try it to see if it works.

We're not saying you should make/rate 5 recipes a day, just that if you rate them you can rate up to 5 in the same day.

There's no way I can honestly rate a recipe, I go on the computer in the morning before I go to work so I don't have time to cook. I wonder how many people will actually prepare these recipes.
5 recipes a day is possible, but only if you don't have a full time job in town.

5 recipes a day is possible when you consider that some of the recipes are side dishes and others are deserts.

I feel the limit was set to keep the point-game from taking over rather than because they expect people to try 5 recipes in a single day. If I tried 5 recipes in a week, it would be good to know that I could gain the bonus points for all 5 even if I wait to rate until the end of the week.

I agree that the ratings should have meaning. The ratings without comments mean nothing to me.

I agree. The ratings won't be very useful if people didn't actually make the recipe. How can you make 5 new recipes in a day? I can't even make 5 new recipes in a week!

I agree - I noticed a whole bunch of recipes that had the exact same description and I was wondering why that was until I saw this. I can't always tell from a recipe if I will like it or not and rely on reviews a lot, for me they won't be one bit helpful this way...

Shouldn't we be making these to test ourselves before we rate them? Somehow I don't think that's happening... and certainly not 5 different recipes in one day. The people that will do anything for points... will just plug it in.... I believe it's a good concept, but would be more beneficial if people would actually try them before they rate them.
