Wow, I"m sorry you are having a problem with this..in our group (100plus) we've had a few get their feelings hurt when things where misunderstood but we all have posted good support for all, and try to handle differences with lots of caring for the other person. We suggest to sp mail each other if there is a misunderstanding because alot of times just talking it out between the two people works it out. It really comes down to the people activily making it a great group and having respect for others. ((hugs)) I love my team!-Tonya

Hi Patsy

Thanks for the feedback. Anytime you see posts that violate our Community Guidelines- using bad language, having a negative and/or unsupportive tone, etc.- you can click the "Report Inapporpriate Post" button at the bottom of any thread. We'll get an email about it and can look into it.

Hope that helps!

I am a member of the group you speak of that is going through a change and I can tell you it is very unnerving to be told that I must go through all the threads and see if my concern has already been addressed before I start a new thread...I though this site was a place of support and motivation to help us get to where we wanted to go in our healthy lifestyle journey and not to spend our time looking through all the threads to see if it has already come up and been answered...very disapointed with this group now...will wait until Friday to see what is put up for the group logo before I see if this is one I will hold on to...some of the suggestions are very weird to say the least. I also find in the vent thread all the cussing that goes on is not what we are about either...I do hope something can be done regarding people just stepping in to take over a group because a few want it changed..

I'm not sure how helpful this is, but as the administrator of a team, when I click on 'edit this team' there's a link for team leader survival and here's the url http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_articles.asp?id=628

well, i just reread it and it basically is techinical pointers...but if you read the community guidelines...well, the first one is to be respectful of other people's opinions. That sort of covers these issues a bit. Sadly, most people probably don't read the guidelines. The team leaders should definitely be required to before starting a team...

I second that. I've got someone "defending my Captain" from the imagined threat she sees in me. She makes it sound like there's supposed to be a chain of command on all new ideas. It would be nice for both of us to refer to some guidelines provided by the Team Leader or whomever.

I have a suggestion for something that could use some emphasis at Spark. I am a member of one of the largest teams here that has just had a new person appointed as team leader. The leader has good ideas, and wants to make the team forum more organized and useful to team members -- laudable goals to be sure -- but has started out a bit on the wrong foot by proclaiming new rules without seeking input through the forum from members.

If Spark doesn't offer new team leaders some guidance and support in the form of how to manage the *people* aspect of teams, it should. And if it does offer it then perhaps a look at the materials is in order. Managing a team containing 30,000+ members is a challenge, and pointers for a new person taking on that job would be helpful to them and the teams they manage.
