stop looking at this as a diet. accept it as a healthy new lifestyle. take it in stages. the fast break stage starts you off on working on this slowly. learn to get in all your waters, then work in your dairies, then fruits & veggies, then exercise.
track everything you're eating.
learn what foods are better for you. know that you don't have to give up everything, you just can't have it whenever you want.
you didn't gain it overnight, don't expect to lose it overnight. don't beat yourself up if you should slip and have a bad meal, or a bad day. just don't give up.
use the boards. join some teams that have the same interests.
this is doable. come here for all the support and motivation you need.

Ginschaardt, I struggle with will power too...and boy do I mean STRUGGLE. The thing is that it is a constant fight and the minute I don't stay on top of it I go out of control. So some things that I have found helpful are...
I give myself a pep-talk everyday...Take five or ten minutes to myself and tell myself everything that I have done right ...drank my water, stopped using creamer in my coffee, went for a walk....The key to this is to NEVER tell yourself negative things. You can't say 'well, I did drink my water but I should have drank more' Only nice things.
I also take a moment in the morning to become aware that I am making healthy lifestyle changes. In the morning I tell myself to go ahead and get that candybar out of my mind because it is full of things that my body doesn't need. I also kind of plan what will go into my mouth and what kind of exercise I will do for the day.
If I am extremely tempted by something...I will actually smell it with my eyes closed and focus on the smells and try to block everything else out. Then I imagine what it taste like. Almost like I'm pretending to eat it...what's the taste, texture, what's it feel like in my stomach. Most of the time smelling is enough because my mind always imagines things to smell and taste better than they actually do. You may smell a plate of brownies and think "gee, these just smell like flour and sugar..yuk"
If everything else fails then maybe you should allow yourself a little something but be sure to concentrate while your eating it. So much of what I ate before was unconscious...I was stuffing one candybar in my mouth while thinking of the chips in the cabinet. Food never satisfied me completely although I kept trying.
I hope some of these things work for you. I haven't been perfect but these techniques have helped me to be better than I was before.
You can do this!

I don't think will power has anything to do with lossing weight. You need to focus on small changes in your life until these change become a part of your life. I now do not eat in front of the tv beacuse I use to eat food without thinking about the amount I was eating. I also spend some of my evening read in my bed so I will not eat. Little changes each week can help with weight loss not will power.
