I use the meal plans as a base and then make changes as needed for things I don't like. I use the shopping list as well. It just takes some getting use to. I like the plans because it gets me out of an eating rut. I will repeat things especially if a recipe is for 6 servings I spread it out over 3 days. And you can always select a different meal if you don't like one. It also helps in tracking what you eat. If you don't have some kind of plan you are just planning to fail. I also look at the grocery ads and see what's on sale and make adjustments accordingly. Like this week cabbage is on sale so I'm changing broccoli to cabbage and cole slaw. That helps on the budget.

Hey Success:
You really should give it a try. Tracking my food has taught me so much about how I've eaten and what to change. There's tons of support. There's humor, caring and tons of valuable information. Everyone is helpful from members to staff.
Good luck. I mostly post in support club.

Dear Just Signed Up,
Just like you, I hate the shopping list and the idea of eating somebody elses idea of food just annoys me, never mind the fact that I have lots of food allergies. You are also so very right about the foods not being basic enough. Still, I figure just having a place to check in, socialize, ask questions, check out food values and such is easily worth $10.00 per year to me. Plus I can take the diet class or contact an expert if I want, all included. I sure like SparkPeople a whole lot better than eDiets. The other program is just too confusing and so very commercial. But, hey, if it ain't worth it, ask for your money back and take somebody to dinner at McDonald's instead. The chicken salad and yogurt are pretty good there.
Best wishes, Rodney

| Success, I too would encourage you to try it for the 30 days. The support from the team and all members is invaluable. There is a wealth of information on this site and you can adjust to the foods to meet your needs. There are no written in stone rules here and you can make your meals as basic as needed to fit you life style. Check out all the Forums before you leave us. patty

Success, I would encourage you to take advantage of the 30 days before you decide. Take a look around at the forums (there is great support out there) and try tracking the food you do eat. It is a great place here. I started in January and have been very pleased.
I too had hoped that the meal plans would "tell me what to eat" and thought that was the help I needed. And I too found that the plans were too varied and too extensive. (For what it's worth I have found this to be true of any meal plans I have seen on and off the web). I can't imagine trying to cook all those different things in just one week. (I like to pick a few things and stick with that for a while then switch when I'm bored or the next time I go to the store).
But I have found that I don't want to be told what to eat. I want to eat what I like while making healthy choices and an all around lifestyle change. I don't want a diet I just want to go about my business and eat more intelligently. This site has really helped me track what I'm eating, where my downfalls are, and how to make adjustments, improvements, and exceptions.
So I hope you stick around for a few days.

Hello
Many of our members don't use the meal plans and shopping list. What's great about our program is that you can just track the foods you eat to make sure you are staying within your calorie goals.
However, if you would like a full refund, please write back here, or just send an email to support@sparkpeople.com within 30 days of when you joined.
