Go you good thing! Just found it, I've been struggling with the conversions so that's a big help.

^^^ I'm on a Mac, and there's a conversion tool built in to the Dashboard, it's great! There's two drop down boxes where you pick the units you're converting to, and you just enter in one set of numbers and it gives you the other. Soooo convenient, especially since my gym's scale is in kilograms and stones!

As I use firefox anyway, I convert with google.
For example: 8 cup to liter
Its faster than going to the ressources center;)

Good Morning,

About putting a link to the conversion calc on the nutrition pages - we talked about that, but decided against it because of space considerations. We should probably add that to the list of things to consider.

We'll also add conversions including Kilojoules to that same list.

Thank you!

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy

I am portuguese and I am used to think in metric system. It is hard to convert to other system. Having the convertion at hand it is much more easy. Thanks for this tool.
Spark People is the most motivating site that I have been to keep a diet working.
Congratulations.

I agree with Mapgeek... I think the conversion calculator is a great feature and would be especially helpful on the Nutrition Tracker page- currently we have to open two windows to use it. Thanks Spark!

Is there anywhere where there is a converter from Kilojoules to calories - when I want to add foods when I have the nutritional value - eg 300kj per serve.

If this could be added to the conversion calc that would be very helpful

Thanks for the fantastic website!!

Is it possible to get this button added to the Nutrtion Tracker page? I didn't know about it until today. :( Also, I think it would get more use if it were there.

Also a geek. Being in Australia, I've been using excel =convert(cell ref,"lbm","kg") for pounds to kilos, etc. - all the other conversions you can do are in the help file, there's a stack of them. Got a spreadsheet that does just about all of them saved to my desktop, nice and handy. You do need the analysis add-in though.

Geeks rule! Without geeks, there would be no Sparky. Without Sparky, I would be so sad.

Hi M,

Good find! I apologize for the bad conversion, but if it makes you feel any better - the equation was correct in the file, it was a silly programming error causing the problem.

Thanks!

The conversion calculator is great, but has all the math been checked? 1 cup = 240 mL, yet the calculator says 1,000.000 mL. Thats a HUGE difference, especially when you are tracking water consumption.

People will float.

Another great new feature from the SparkPeople team !! Plus it also gets me to explore the Nutrition part of the site (where I definitely need to spend more time).

Hi, Jeremy, I like it and thank you.

For those of us who use the metric system it will cut out a lot of mental arithmetic or logging onto another site which has a conversion calculator.

Just in case you ever need to know how many grams are in an ounce, or teaspoons in a tablespoon - we now have a calculator you can use to figure it out. You can find the link to it in the lower left of the Nutrition Resource Center.

Happy Converting,

Jeremy
