Hi Jennie

Thanks a bunch for wanting to help ensure our long-term success! We have some innovative ways coming soon for this.

Right now, here are 3 ways you can help with this if any of these interest you:

1) Buy a SparkPeople T-shirt in our store:
SP Store

2) If you shop online, go through our Shopping Club so that SP earns a commission from these online retailers (some of the top online retailers like Amazon!):
SP Shopping Club

3) Use the SP Web Search for your searches - we earn a commission from Google for this:
SP Web Search

All revenues we earn from these channels go back into making SP even better at helping people reach their goals.

Thanks again for your post, we love helping people reach their goals!

I was searching the site for a place to make a donation and found this discussion... I would agree that members are incredibly grateful for the tremendous service you are offering them - and I know many (me included) would love to help ensure SparkPeople's long-term success by contributing voluntary donations. It gives people an additional feeling of "being part of the community" to donate to a cause they feel passionate about.

Thank you for creating something that empowers so many to reach their goals!

Chris,

You've brought up several points and ideas that are ripe for further discussion and some clarification so that I have a clearer sense of the model. Drop me an e @: 68miracle@gmail.com. Let me know how I can reach you via phone. I can toss around some ideas with you via a medium that is more conducive to the neccessary back-and-forth. I already have one idea that I'm going to investigate this evening.

Peace,

-Joher

PS One of the ways I describe SP now is that it's "Healthtainment" - we combine health with motivation/entertainment to help people make a true lifestyle change.

Imagine this - it'll be an interesting American type of solution for a media-type company to help solve the obesity crisis with a medically-accepted program that is also fun and entertaining.

It'd be great to somehow get the entertainment behind this too!

Thanks Joher!

We're getting so many people sign up for the site now and spread the word to friends that I do think we're getting very close to the point where we can crossover to be successful in the media too - especially since the site truly does work and is changing so many lives. You wouldn't believe the number of amazing testimonials we get almost every day. I spend most of my time in the SF Bay Area now, so we recently hired a PR firm out here to help us with this.

We'd love to have some kind of an endorsement from you, maybe we could turn it into a story on the site or something? Any other ideas you have would be great.

Congrats on being an uncle! Fun to play with the little ones, huh? We have our second due in August.

What else are you up to these days? I'm off to exercise outside with the boy :)

Hi Chris,

Delighted to hear from you! Wonderful vision.

Yeah. I know know from experience that getting on Oprah is hard. But it's okay to start with Montel, the Health (or is it "Exercise"?) Network, or Goodmorning America.

As we've discussed, if the endorsement of an actor would be of value, don't hesitate to let me know!

Enjoyed the picture of you and your son. Guess what?! I'm an uncle!...to my wonderful 6month old nephew, Otto. Man, am I lucky.

Jeff! Great job! I totally get what you mean by insulation. (For myself, it is both physical and emotional) Keep it up!

Regards,

-Joher

Hey guys,

Getting on Oprah would blow this thing wide open. Everything she does turns to gold. It would help so many more people.

Hi Joher, good to see you!

Yes, we decided to become a free site to reach our goal of helping millions of people reach their goals. As you can see, all of the goal setting program is still here, we just used it to create a revolutionary health program. Eventually we'll have other verticals that focus more on goal setting.

We'll also have some innovative ways for people who want to help us coming real soon (a little like a donation, but not). Stay tuned :)

We still haven't cracked the Oprah show, we'll get there!

Dear Chris and Co.,

I've checked in from time to time from the site's inception. Heartfelt congratulations on it's ongoing evolution. From a FANTASTIC goal-setting platform (worried as hell when I thought the dieting focus had eliminated this) to what is now...a FREE resource? Holy smokes!!! You guys are gonna put e-diets out of business!!! ;^) I'm crious to know what your business model is now...

Anyway, I'm back on. Consider having some sort of voluntary donation button. What you guys offer is such a HUGE GIFT to us users, that it would be nice for us to be able to express our appreciation.

BTW: Did the Oprah show that we talked about several years back come together? Hope it was a huge success!

Peace and God Bless,

-Joher Coleman
